Harry Potter and the Second War: AU
SERIES IS ON HIATUS!
Essentially though, while there's stuff I want to write for the series, there's an awful lot about it that I don't like. I might be able to find a way of resolving those issues without changing too much about it, but I'm not convinced. Apologies to any fans of the series still waiting for updates.
Book 1: Prophecies, Secrets and Lies: Harry Potter has a pretty good life, all things considered. A loving family, great friends, and a brilliant future ahead of him. However, his first year at Hogwarts does not go quite as smoothly as it might have done, as he has to cope with danger and problematic magic. Complete. Rating M: for safety. No pairing.
Book 2: The Sneaking Serpent Walks: Plagued by horrific dreams, and struggling to control his magic, Harry is looking forward to a peaceful year at Hogwarts. But a dreadful secret is beginning to uncoil... Title from William Blake; The Marriage of Heaven and Hell - Complete. Rating M: for safety, character death, occasional language. No pairing.
Book 3: An Awful Shadow: Having found out that Voldemort is still alive, Harry begins to train for his inevitable return. However, there are distractions in the return of the man who betrayed his family, a sadistic killer with a grudge, and some uncomfortable revelations about some of his nearest and dearest...Title from Percy Shelley, A Hymn to Intellectual Beauty - Complete. Rating M: for language and violence. No pairing.
Book 4: The Power He Knows Not: Emotionally devastated by the treachery of his third year, Harry also has to deal with unwanted trials at Hogwarts, both legal and magical – but everything is overshadowed by prophecy: betrayal is just the first step towards Voldemort’s return… Complete. Rating M: for language and violence. Features character death, Harry/Parvati pairing
Book 5: Rise and Fall: Voldemort has returned to full strength, and he’s out for blood. Harry may be the second coming of the mythical sorcerers, or he may just be a talented young wizard. Regardless, war is coming, and Harry will be at the centre of it. The light has governed for fifteen years; now the dark is returning... Complete. Rating M: for language and violence.
Book 6: A Cold, Corrupting Fate: Albus Dumbledore is dead, and the Minister for Magic is in the hands of the Dark Lord. Beset on all sides by enemies, Harry Potter must find a way to victory without losing himself along the way. Title from Lionel Johnson, 'The Destroyer of a Soul'. WIP. Rating M: Language and violence.
Harry Potter and the Discworld:
Crossover fic, co-written with Hellinbrand. Just a bit of fun to satisfy our inner geeky fanboy. Fairly sporadic updates, although it is still being written - it's just that we're both busy with real world stuff, and our priorities in fanfiction remain our individual stuff.
Harry Potter: Hero of the Wizarding World?
Again, co-written with Hellinbrand - a retelling of the Harry Potter series, inspired by the Flashman Papers. As with ...Discworld, written simply for our amusement. Formally known as 'Harry Potter, Magnificent B*d', but the title changed in the wake of a crackdown by FF.net admins on summaries/titles.
If you're looking for a good archive of fanfiction, you could do worse than check out the Dark Lord Potter forums. Fair warning though: the humour may not be to everyones tastes (ie, dark and crude, for the most part), slash is a big no-no, and Ginny barely tolerated. If you visit and decide to do more than check out the library (no membership required for that), then for God's sake lurk around the site for a bit. Most of the members bite.
Further to the above, if you're looking for a quality selection of fanfiction to read during the interminable waits between updates, go check out the DLP C2. It's basically the best of the best, and every story is a guarenteed good read.
