i know it’s technically not a fanfic since I didn’t use names of actual cartoon charters, anime’s, or celebrities, I still hope y’all like it...*
I squinted my eyes as the ray of the sun blinded me. I took a deep breath and inhaled the fresh air. Tears of joy and laughter filled the atmosphere. I looked back as a familiar voice rung in my ears. "Hey, you excited your going up next." It was Lacey Zamarai. Her divine black hair seemed lighter in the sun. Her eyes were tinted darker than usual revealing how on edge she felt.
"Excited is one way to put it, im fucking terrified." I responded.
"Heh, don't be just go up on stage with your head held high and get it over with." Beside all my imperfections Lacey had been in my life since we were born, she knew me more than anyone else. "Harper Collins!". I started feeling different emotions all at once. I pushed it to the back of my mind and snapped back into reality. My legs felt unsteady as I made my way up on stage. Mr. Walter shook my hand delicately, and handed me my diploma. The sounds of cheering and yelling burst my ears, making me nauseous.
I managed to make my way to the other end of the stage. My legs had given up making me trip. I flickered my eyes, trying to make out the figure that stood in front of me. "Hey, you ok?" The voice was familiar. I steadied myself trying to regain conscience. "I'm sorry about that, here let me help you." My eyes fell to my graduation gown, which had water spilled all over.
"Uh, no its fine...I got it". I looked up to see Greyson Zamarai. My eyes flickered into his eyes holding his gaze. My stomach did a somersault just at the sight of him. Despite everything I was nothing more to him than his little sisters best friend. "Anyway, congrats". I gleamed back in reality noticing he had left to be seated and watch the remaining graduation.
I made my way back and had realized that everyone, including Lacey had already went up there and Mr. Walter had almost finished with his speech. "Even though this year has been tough, we accomplished many things, I enjoyed having you as students and hope that life brings you joyful moments." I took a deep breath thinking about the future and what it holds. "Without further ado you may throw your caps up!" Everyone stood up whooping, and cheering as they threw their caps up as high as they can.
All the graduates made their way to the open fields to cherish the moment by taking pictures. "Hey you." I had noticed that Lacey had made her way over to me. I felt a shiver down my back as I saw Grey appear behind her. "Finally, we get to be able to do whatever the fuck we want!" I was surprised as she had jumped onto me.
"Congratulations." He gave me a stern nod and handed me a bouquet of flowers. I felt my legs become unstable as he was gazing at me with his adoring eyes. As usual Lacey broke through the moment.
"If you don't mind, can you drive us to Hot Bird?" Hot Bird was the bar that we had grown up next to.
"Sure." He nodded with concern, even though he knew that if I were there Lacey wouldn't drink to much. "Oh i almost forgot to tell Colby and Ryan they might want to come to." There was an awkward silence between Grey and I as Lacey texted Colby then Ryan.
After a few moments Colby and Ryan had appeared."Hey guys, ready to go!" Ryan hollered.
The car ride was bashful besides Ryan yelling out the window. "Fuck you High School!" I giggled as the cars honked and people yelled at him. "There's kids in the car, language!" Yelled a middle-aged man. I glanced a look in the rear view mirror, seeing Grey catch my gaze and gaze me a smirk that showed his dimple. It made me weak.
"Now I don't want you to dri-." Grey was cut off as Lacey folded her arms and gave him an evil stare.
"I don't even want you to start!
"Oh, come on" Grey always tried to keep a calm voice It was like second nature to him.
"I'll have Harp watching me don't worry!" She said looking over to me.
"Well, ok" He let out a deep sigh as he nodded in my direction. I took out my phone and texted Abby. "We're going out to celebrate at Hot Bird." Moments later, my phone went off and i took it out not looking at the messenger. " Thx for the invite, but I don't think I can make it." Abby was always busy with school work of her family and usually never made it to anything.
"Ugh, finally took forever" Lacey complained. She took off her graduation gown revealing the dress underneath as if she knew we would come to the bar. Honestly i was surprised she always seemed like the jean and T-Shirt. But this time she wore a blood red dress that was above the knees and flowy. She sure knew how to dress for the occasion. I on the other hand had worn a jet black dress that was flowy in the back and above the knee in the front with bell sleeves and a revealing back. "You had to dress casual didn't you?" she sighed.
"Lacey its comfortable and suiting." I gave a shrug that she ignored it.
"I think she looks fine." Stated Grey with a smirk. I smiled back. It was stupid the way he had me feel with just a small action.
While inside music burst through my ears. Lacey had already been dancing on the dance floor while Grey was right behind keeping watch. Ryan and Colby were at the bar getting high while I was standing by the bathrooms.
It had been moments until a guy came over. "Hey."
"You seem lost." He turned his focus on me.
"No just bored." I replied with confidence.
"Well would you care to dance?" He asked, rubbing my arm uncomfortable. I opened my mouth to answer, but before I could answer, he dragged me to the dance floor. "I'm Kevin." He said as he got closer. I was too busy focused on other things and didn't hear what he said. I spotted Grey in the back corner. As usual girls were all over him. He turned to give me a look. His jaw clenched. I turned to focus my attention on Kevin. Still feeling Grey's eyes on me. Confused I asked. "What?" Before I knew it Kevin pushed his lips against mine closing the gap between us. He was harsh.
"Back off!" I heard a familiar voice. Grey pushed Kevin away from me. He gave me a concerned stare as his eyes darkened. "What's your problem man?" He turned his focus on Kevin, who was now backing away as he gave him a stern glare. "Get the hell out of here!" He turned to face me after Kevin walked away. My hand went to my lips that was now bleeding. "Here, let me help." He said taking a step closer. He brushed his thumb on my bottom lip. I felt tears sting in my eyes as I looked at him. "Hey don't cry." I took a step back walking to the bar. He followed me and watched me drink down three bottles of beer. My lips stung, but I ignored it.
"Your going to get sick, you know?" He said, grabbing the fourth bottle away.
"Who cares?" I grabbed it from him and gulped it all down by this time I was fully drunk.
"Harp..." I could hear the concern in his voice. I looked at him for a few second, what I did next was not me. I touched his lips with mine. I had many feelings going on in my mind, but I pushed them aside, letting my body do the work. He didn't kiss me back, but after a while when he replied I opened my mouth as he slid his tongue into my mouth. A moan escaped my mouth. Seconds later he pulled away resting his forehead on mine breathing hard. "Come on." He got up and grabbed me by the waist to his car putting me in the passengers seat. I dozed and let the feeling sink in.
What just happened was unbelievable. I watched as Harper slept in the passenger's seat tracing all her features with my eyes. She smiled in her sleep, which made my heart skip a beat. I kept my eyes focused on the road. I took her to my condo. I didn't want Lacey to disturb her if I took her to their place. I got out the car and opened the door. I picked her up hugging her tight against me like I was going to lose her. I carried her all the way to my room and changed her into one of my T-shirts. And watched as she slept for a while.
I was in the kitchen making coffee when my phone went off. I took It out of my pocket to the ID that read "Lacey". I tapped her name to read what she had texted. "Is Harper at your place?"
"Yes." I replied, waiting a few moments before my phone went off again.
"Ok, treat her well or I will break you." I smiled at the thought of that before Harper walked in. She walked out the room rubbing her eyes. She looked good without no makeup and messy hair, but I pushed those thoughts away. She made her way to the kitchen, sitting down. "Hey." She said as I handed her coffee and waffles.
"Good morning." I said, watching closely as she took a sip of her coffee.
"How'd I end up here?" She gave me a desperate confused look. "Well you drank to much last night. "
"Hmm..." She gazed at me as I held hers. Trying to look for a different answer. She gave up and started eating her breakfast.
