X X X X Notes to Authors: If you are one of those who's seeing who has placed you on a favorites list--I just want you to know, anything listed under my favorite stories must be well written and have something at least resembling a plot. If it's interesting enough, I might overlook poor spelling/grammar, but even great plotlines can only distract me so far. I was raised on proper grammar, though I've gotten out of the stiff, formal, archaic speech... mostly. If you have managed to make my favorite authors list, good for you! Your work must be either exceptional for a new author with only one or two stories or overall consistently good. If you have several stories posted, I generally have to like at least two thirds of them before I am willing to favorite. Notes to Readers: I have little time these days, but am intending to (one-by-one) rewrite most of my old works. The rewrites will be posted under similar names. English: A language that lurks in dark alleyways, beats up other languages, and rifles through their pockets for spare vocabulary.--bastardized quote, James D. Nicolle x "Hermione!" he cried happily, flipping upright and grinning at the girl. Said girl paled. She took one looked at the crazed gleam in his eyes and the too bright smile and decided she wanted none of it. She promptly turned on her heels and exited the way she had just come. Not one to be deterred, Harry merrily skipped after her. Twenty minutes later, Hermione found herself resigned to the inevitable and smuggling a sheep into the Great Hall. Classes were canceled and the entire staff spent the rest of the day combing the castle looking for sheep. One had been found in the dungeons with the number four painted on its side. Another was found in Hagrid's garden, happily chewing on his cabbages, with the number one. Sybil Trelawney tripped over Number Five who mysteriously appeared in her personal quarters. Number Two was finally captured after leading a flustered McGonagall on a spirited chase around the Great Hall. Apparantly, they were magic resistant sheep and had to be corraled manually. The search for the missing Number Three continued well into the night. It never occurred to anyone that there was no Number Three. An excerpt from Curse of Fate by Mistress Nika. x “Listen to me very carefully, Potter. If my aunt acquires one of those puppies for you and it gets within slobbering distance of my home… I assure you, the day my aunt leaves town there would be a new batch of Longevity Draught brewed by nightfall.” Cocking his head to the side, Harry stared at Snape puzzled. Severus sighed and rolled his eyes heavenward. “That would have been a more effective threat had you paid attention long enough in my class to discover that the main ingredient in Longevity Draught is ground puppy-dog spleen.” An excerpt from Mistletoe, by Forever and then some. x "When I told Dad I was afraid of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." "Well, what was he supposed to do?" "I was nine years old!" A scene snippet from Supernatural, conversation between Sam and Dean Winchester. Pilot episode. x “Alright, so you basically shocked them to death, nearly killed them all, banished their King, disturbed all their pretty little ideas and to sum up turned their world upside down.” “Basically.” “Excellent! Great job, boy!" An excerpt from The Dragonmasters by Naia. x Bilbo catches him by the chin and turns Thorin’s face to his. He is frowning and is sitting with one hand braced on his knee. “Thorin Oakenshield, did you get soused on mead and marry me underneath Beorn’s staircase?” “I may have done that. Yes.” The better part of two lines from Gardening by The Feels Whale on AO3 x “I cannot believe you’re coming to me with this,” Ed muttered, rubbing his forehead tiredly. His hair was a mess of flaxen tangles that were clearly the product of having agitated fingers run through it one too many times. “You do realize I’m more than a decade your junior, right?” “Yes.” “And was orphaned at a very young age, performed human transmutation, spent most of my youth running around searching for a way to reverse its effects, never really had time to delve into the arcana of social norms and niceties.” “Yes.” “And have no experience with the happy state you hope to enter into eventually, nor its attendant familial obligations. That’s Al’s thing.” “Yes.” “And am currently involved in a relationship that is unlikely to ever reach said happy state, despite an abundance of commitment.” “Yes.” “And have never, in anyone’s wildest dreams, been heralded as the epitome of grace, tact and subtlety?” “Yes.” Ed sighed with exaggerated patience. “Then let me put it very bluntly: why are you asking me for advice on how to proceed with your love life again?” An excerpt from Full Circle, by Nike Femme. It's a Full Metal Alchemist fic, somewhat AU, and very well written. I reccommend it to anyone who has seen the entire series--or doesn't mind mild spoilers. Mostly self-explanatory, to anyone who doesn't know the series and wants to read it anyway, but possibly confusing on history-related points. xxxx Take note, from a religious standpoint, male/male and/or female/female relationships are something I don't precisely approve of, I also believe that God made people with free will for a reason, and it is therefore not my place to dictate other people's beliefs and actions. In this, I follow the Wicca proverb-- "As it harms none, do as ye will." I have friends that are homosexual or bi, and this does not bother me. God gave them the right to choose, and, while it is mentioned once or twice in the Old Testemant that such relationships are frowned upon, forgiveness and tolerance are much more emphasized--take a guess as to which I think people should pay more attention to. |
