Author has written 36 stories for Harry Potter, and Star Wars.
Pleased to meet you! I'm Mandy, and I'm glad you stopped in.
I live in the NW United States and am an alumnus of Harry Potter: The Exhibition at Pacific Science Center. I am currently a full time home maker, writer, actress, and figure skater. I went to college in Las Vegas, and I'm originally from Florida. I used to write ST:TNG and now I write Harry Potter and Star Wars.
I have to say, here at the top, that I have a lot of stories here that are a few years old that I still love and love to get reviews for. I know it's tempting not to review older stories because it seems as though they might have fallen off the writer's radar. Mine have fallen nowhere and I still get giddy about reviews even for my older stuff (some of my older L/N fics are my favorites). I have temporarily disabled anonymous reviews, though, as I get annoyed with people telling me my stories are 'crap' and not saying why or even being willing to admit who they are. Sorry if that's obnoxious of me.
Ships I write: ST:TNG- Riker/Troi, Wesley/OFC (he never had a decent love life). HP: Lucius/Narcissa, Draco/Pansy (but only when they hate each other) and one Harry/Ginny story that ate my brain until I got it on paper. SW: Han/Leia.
Ships I read but don't write: ST:TNG- Picard/Crusher, Worf/Dax. HP: Lupin/Tonks (I wish I could write them), Harry/Ginny(save that one freak incident), Ron/Hermione, Harry/Draco (but only for the smut value and only when they hate each other) and Bella/Voldemort, because it's too obvious not to let it happen. Firefly: Mal/Inara, Inara/Kaylee, Kaylee/Simon.
Please check out my L/N stuff. They're my fav. :)
HP fic Summaries are updated to reflect TDH canon compliance; stories authored prior to July 2007 may have been knocked into the AU... all stories are tagged with TDH compliant or non TDH compliant and whether or not they contain any spoilers.
I sometimes write 10,000-15,000 words in a day. Beta reading for me would be like a full time job; and one I am not willing to allow someone to take on- it would cost too much time and I am not independently wealthy enough to afford to pay someone. Add to that fact that fanfic is my 'recess'... the fun I get to have in otherwise rather technically demanding writing, and I prefer just to leave the stories be and not have every teency little typo or punctuation error (or unusual chioce) pointed out to me by someone critical; I get enough of that in my other writing. That said, I do try to find and fix typos, and MS Word 2007 is a big help with that. If you see a typo... close your eyes and pretend it's not there... please?
And I should let everyone know this: I review those who review me. :) There was a period when I was without a computer and much less diligent in this, but I'm back now.
Once Upon a Time I asked another writer where to begin with her body of work and then I realized that I hadn't done that favor for people who read my stuff. If you're here for L/N, which I think most of you are... here are my stories in order of when they correspond with canon:
NOTE: A LONG story is one that has several chapters and is novel or novella length; a SHORT story is five chapters or fewer; a ONE-SHOT is just that, a single and cohesive work with very little in the way of scene breaks and narrative action.
Well Mannered Virgins: 1973 (short)
The Heart Wants What it Wants: 1973-1975 (long)
A Mission Away: 1977 (long)
The Lamb is Caught in the Blackberry Patch: 1979 (long)
On The Twenty-Second Day: 1980 (one-shot)
An Arrangement: 1980 (one-shot)
What One Must Do: 1980-1981 (long)
Everything- on the night of the Dark Lord's Demise: 1981 (one-shot)
This Way: 1991 (long)
The Mark: 1994 (long; follows the action of GOF)
Alarm Bells: 1996 (short)
Tiny Blessings in a Cursed Place: 1996 (one-shot)
Night Like Another & Good Night: 1996 (two one-shots that could be one story. NLA is rated K+ and GN rated M, so only read NLA if you're anti-smut)
The Contents of a Silver Box: 1996-1997 (long; follows the action of TDH)
A Bridge Too Far: 1997 (long)
Colder: 1997 (one-shot)
After that comes The 13th Hourglass, which is not strictly L/N and then For Blood or For Love which is also only marginally L/N. The other stories in HP fandom fit in as follows: A Black New Year is 1967,1973,1976 and could be read and understood without any of my other fic. First Day of Summer and the Rest of my Life comes after The Mark by just a few weeks. The Knowledge One Possesses takes place in 1996 just after Alarm Bells. The Nicest Dress You'll Never Need is an aside from the action in What One Must Do. All other HP fic fell out of canon with the release of TDH; JK Rowling had a happier ending in mind than I did.
PS: a pet peeve: CANON VIOLATIONS THAT ARE NOT EXPRESSLY MARKED irk me. I love fanfic. I write fanfic and I read fanfic. I love to read fanfic. I love to read other people's impressions of the characters I feel like I know. I like to see them through other writers' eyes. And I write a lot of reviews. I do not write flames. I can get past stories that are so old that nobody knew that Lucius was born in 1954 and Narcissa in 1955 and Bella in 1951 and Andromeda between her sisters and that Sirius is their cousin. But if you write a fic NOW, that the HP lexicon has all of that available to you and you choose not to use it... then please mark your story AU or I'll be really really annoyed. AU is not a problem for me, but I cannot take canon violations that I am not prepared for. Please, out of courtesy, mark your AU stories as such. End of rant.
