Only the best of the best can make it onto these lists, and not just films, animations and stories. Characters and individuals that have showcased outstanding, unique and praiseworthy qualities may also be listed, but only those that are able to meet my ridiculous, fluctuating standards. I am very particular about my preferences and likes, and only review economically. P.S These lists are all based solely off of my own opinion. They are not based off of any existing lists, references or materials. This is strictly from an observer’s point of view. So, let’s take a look and see what’s made my day as of late… Top Ten Best Anime: This list details what I believe, from a critic’s point of view, to be the greatest Japanese animated series ever created (not including movies). The series’ on this list have either shown me outstanding attributes, meeting all of the requirements and needs for a great series, have amazing potential, or have made an impact on me in terms of stories, characters, plot or nonsense. It should also be worth noting that any of the top ten listed below to make it onto this list; I would consider ‘shelf-worthy’, would recommend to anyone who hasn’t seen them, and that I will buy them on blu-ray, given the opportunity. 1. Cowboy Beebop 2. Baccano! 3. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 4. Gurren Lagann 5. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (R1 and R2) 6. Clannad 7. Ghost in the Shell 8. Golden Boy 9. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 10. Dragonball Z (Predecessor to all the anime that came after including Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and Fairy Tale) Anime - Honourable Mentions: A short list detailing the anime that could have made it onto the list above and should have been included or still has the potential to make it. Again, I would recommend these to anyone who hasn’t seen them: Tsukikage Ran: Carried by the Wind Sasameki Koto To Aru Majutsu no Index/Railgun One Piece Naruto Sailor Moon Fairy Tale Sekirei K-On! Hajime no Ippo Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar (Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari) Waiting in the Summer Hyakko Girls Und Panzer Soranowoto Toradora Samurai Champloo Darker Than Black Ah! My Goddess Trigun Ladies versus Butlers! Say, 'I Love You' A Bridge to the Starry Skies (Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi) Kokoro Connect Top Ten Favorite Anime: Just to distinguish between what I deem the best to what I would consider my favorites: 1. Cowboy Beebop 2. Baccano! 3. The Devil's a Part-Timer! 4. Seitokai Yakuindomo 5. Cat Planet Cuties 6. Tsukikage Ran: Carried by the Wind 7. Girls Und Panzer 8. Hyakko 9. Naruto 10. Sekirei Top Ten Anime Fights: A list of the top ten greatest battles to take place in the anime universe. Due to its enormous range and diversity, you would expect a few of these to make it through the cracks. Of course, not every fight can make it onto the list. There are certain criteria it has to meet. Not only do the fights have to be epic, they also have to be well choreographed and well animated. I won't accept any of that half-assed animation they have done for some anime fights, like for every one of Naruto's fights in the anime (I still maintain that Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 has the best animated fight scenes during the cinematics) while every other side character gets a decently animated fight, but any fight is fair game, even if it comes from an anime that is not heavily action oriented. Let's see what we've got: 1. Goku vs Vegeta - First Fight (Dragonball Z) 2. Nanashi vs Lou Lang (Sword of the Stranger) 3. Spike vs Vincent - Second Fight (Cowboy Beebop the Movie) 4. Ippo vs Sendo - Second Fight (Hajime no Ippo) 5. Goku vs Frieza (Dragonball Z) 6. Motoko Kusanagi vs Tank (Ghost in the Shell Movie) 7. Rock Lee vs Gaara (Naruto) 8. Mugen and Jin vs. Kariya and Mugen vs Umanosuke (Samurai Champloo) 9. Yuki Nagato vs Ryoko Asakura (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) 10. Luffy vs Lucci (One Piece) Honorable Mentions: Spike vs Vicious - Second Fight (Cowboy Beebop) Taiga vs Sumire (Toradora!) Gohan vs Cell (Dragonball Z) Ippo vs Sendo - First Fight (Hajime no Ippo) Ippo vs Volg (Hajime no Ippo) Takamura vs Bryan Hawk (Hajime no Ippo) Toki vs Mutsumi Mitsuba (Seitokai Yakuindomo) Ryuko vs Satsuki (Kill la Kill) Spike vs Asimov (Cowboy Beebop) Eren vs Annie (Attack on Titan) Aladdin vs Titus (Magi: The Kingdom of Magic) Kenichi vs Odin - Final Fight (History's Mightiest Disciple Kenichi) Hisoka vs Gon (Hunter X Hunter) Kakashi and Team 10 vs Kakuzu and Hidan (Naruto) Kyuubi-Naruto vs Pein (Naruto) Mugen vs Yatsuha (Samurai Champloo) Everyone vs Anti-Spirals - Final Fight (Gurren Lagann) Red vs Blue - Final Fight (Pokemon: Origins) Top Ten Movies: Considering the top tens, I just HAVE to include a list of top ten movies. Sure I've got my personal favourites and guilty pleasures that I have no hesitation in watching multiple times to appreciate them, but out there in the big, wide world, there are movies that not only have enjoyable stories and heartwarming tales, but are also technically and aesthetically significant. This list I reserve for the most technically perfect films, which took all of the studio's efforts and hearts into creating. Since this is all my opinion, it's all really my preferences and what I believe to be considered great movies. You may not agree with them and have your own lists, this one is mine: 1. Pinocchio (1940) 2. Star Wars (1977) 3. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) 4. Raiders of the Lost Arc (1981) 5. Pulp Fiction (1994) 6. Casablanca (1942) 7. Grave of the Fireflies (1988) 8. The Iron Giant (1999) 9. Spirited Away (2001) 10. The Godfather (1972) Honorable Mentions: The films that are technically impressive and also deserve a place on this list, but didn't make it for the sake of diversity: The Dark Knight (2008) Enter the Dragon (1973) The Godfather II (1974) Groundhog Day (1993) Inception (2010) The Dictator (1940) Alien (1979) Aliens (1986) Ben-Hur (1958) Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) The Matrix (1999) My Neighbor Totoro (1988) Back to the Future (1985) Forrest Gump (1994) The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) The Pianist (2002) Schindler's List (1993) Top Five Movie Trilogies: And Again... 1. Star Wars - The Original Trilogy 2. The Lord of the Rings 3. Toy Story 4. Back to the Future 5. Indiana Jones (Because the fourth one doesn't exist) Top Ten Action Movies: Some of the best material I've seen for being just one word: epic. To create this list, I looked at everything from the characters to the story, and all the cheesy cliches you would see in films like these. So let's take a look at the list. 1. The Dark Knight (2008) 2. Ghost in the Shell (1996) 3. Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) 4. The Matrix (1999) 5. Die Hard (1988) 6. Hellboy (2004) 7. Sword of the Stranger (2007) 8. The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) 9. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) 10. The Avengers (2012) Top Ten Game of Thrones Characters: Yes, I'm a fan... and you know I just gotta. Though some may think the people selected for this list are strange choices, I based this one on my own personal preferences of the show, and though I've been warned not to form attachments, I just couldn't help myself. It's all a matter of perspective. And I will point this out now before anyone decides to read this list, there are great characters in Game of Thrones and I deeply respect and adore the actors and actresses that portray the characters in the show, even the bad ones. But, really, there are still absolutes in this world. Cersei's just an asshole. Even 'perspective' can't excuse that fact, even though the actress that plays her is awesome and I think she's one of the best actresses out there. (P.S: Joffrey reminds me of Madara Uchiha... just saying) :) 1. Tyrion Lannister 2. Arya Stark 3. Podrick Payne 4. Bronn 5. Jaqen H'ghar 6. Brienne of Tarth 7. Jamie Lannister 8. Jon Snow 9. Ser Jorah Mormont 10. Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane Honorable Mentions: Daenerys Targaryen Ser Barristan Selmy Ned Stark Sansa Stark Top Ten Overrated Anime: While there are some that I consider overrated, there are also some that are good but I'd still set the bar pretty high for when I first watched the anime, and when the show turns out to be not what you initially made it out to be it really ruins the whole experience. I won't say exactly what shows were good and what were bad, but I came up with this list acknowledging these anime: 1. Lucky Star 2. Mayo Chiki 3. Death Note 4. Neon Genesis Evangaleon 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 5. Oreimo 6.The Sacred Blacksmith 7. Prince of Tennis 8. Bakemonogatari 9. Gundam 10. Bleach Top Ten Lowest Rated Anime... on my list: Stuff that I'd watched once, wouldn't touch ever again, hated, loathed, disturbed me in a bad way, annoyed me, and compelled me to look more carefully into a movie before watching it. Once again, my own opinion and no one elses. Fact is I've been burned by a lot of people saying for me to watch something because it was good in their opinion or based on group opinion, when it reality it turned out to be something unpleasant, like a wet wrapper picked up by your shoe when you unintentionally stepped in the gutter. It's perhaps the best way to describe this segment. Nevertheless, not everything is perfect, therefore instead of saying 'worst', I'm going with lowest rated, because I cannot give anything a lower opinion then half a star, with good reason. Believe me, I have a lot of anime I hate, and it was really hard arranging them on this list. Even now I'm having a bit of trouble: 1. School Days (For obvious reasons. This is a horrible anime) 2. Neon Genesis: Evangaleon 3. Yu-Gi-Oh! (GX and all) 4. Bobobo-bo... (what?) 5. Queen's Blade (For obvious reasons) 6. Inuyasha 7. Gundam (Not a big fan of mecha) 8. Tenjho Tenge (The series drags on, and the recap of each episode are about ten minutes, just like Air Gear) 9. Ikki Tousen 10. Dragonball GT Honourable Mentions: I know, right?! Even my top ten list of the lowest rated isn't big enough to accomodate my dislikes. Ugh. Anyway, I feel that this needs to be said, so here we go: Air Gear Eiken Bakugan Beyblade Duel Masters Digimon Top Ten Anime Characters: The Greatest anime characters ever conceived in the history of anime. I know I’m sort of wearing out anime with these lists, but it’s just one of the best things to pop up on television since Disney. I can respect animated films and series more than series that use real life actors, since not only there were people who worked hard on creating the characters by hand, by voice actors that step way above and beyond the call of duty (sure, corny, so sue me). Anyway, here is the list… 1. Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Beebop)/Revy (Black Lagoon) 2. Arsène Lupin III (The Castle of Cagliostro/Lupin III) 3. Major Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) 4. Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) 5. Makunouchi Ippo (Hajime no Ippo) 6. Son Goku (Dragonball Z) 7. Kintaro Oe (Golden Boy) 8. Vash the Stampede (Trigun) 9. Toma Kamijo (To Aru Majutsu no Index) 10. Isaac Dian and Miria Harvent (Baccano!) Anime Characters - Honourable Mentions: Those that could have and may probably be able to make the list: Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) Belldandy (Ah! My Goddess) Son Gohan (Dragonball Z) Vegeta (Dragonball Z) Misaka Mikoto (To Aru Majutsu no Railgun) Claire Stanfield/Vino/The Rail Tracer (Baccano!) Ladd Russo (Baccano!) Himeko Inaba (Kokoro Connect) Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto) Kyon (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) Alucard (Hellsing) Top Ten Surprisingly Cool & Awesome Supporting Characters: In every anime series, there is at least one secondary or supporting character that is introduced that proves him or herself to be much cooler and more awesome than a lot of the main characters of the series. Upon searching through hours upon hours of episodes of all sorts of anime, I was able to come across a handful that are, at this time, still being processed into this list. I have yet to decide on who else to include and in what order, exactly... 1. Gajeel (Fairy Tale) 2. Kurozuma Wataru (To Aru Majutsu no Railgun) 3. Jin/Taxi Driver (Canaan) 4. Doctor Knox (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) 5. Bundai (Samurai Champloo) 6. Sendo (Hajime no Ippo) 7. Ul (Fairy Tale) 8. Chihiro Fujimi (Ah! My Goddess) 9. Akio Furukawa (Clannad) 10. Anko (Naruto) Honourable Mention(s): Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) Urd (Ah! My Goddess) Claire Stanfield/Vino/The Rail Tracer (Baccano!) Deo (Last Exile) Naruko Yokoshima (Seitokai Yakuindomo) Slash (Mahoromatic) Top Ten Hottest Anime Girls: Bare with me, this is just a matter of personal opinion. I'm not in love or attracted to any animated chicks, but... let's be honest, Jessica Rabbit's a cartoon character and in an official television broadcast, she was voted as one of the hottest women in movies. This list includes some of my favourite characters and not just the hottest. Guys (and girls, not pointing fingers or anything)... a lot of these gals can turn a few heads with people... 1. Tsukiumi (Sekirei) 2. Sylvia van Hossen (Princess Lover!) 3. Saeko Busujima (Highschool of the Dead) 4. Mizore Shirayuki (RosarioVampire) 5. Revy (Black Lagoon) 6. Kanzaki Kaori (To Aru Majutsu no Index) 7. Seras Victoria (Hellsing) 8. Nico Robin (One Piece) 9. Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann) 10. Samui (Naruto) Honourable Mention(s): Konan (Naruto) Nami (One Piece) Erza (Fairytale) Lucy (Fairytale) Sumika Murasame (Sasameki Koto) Kazetsubaki (Maburaho) Mina Hazuki (Darker Than Black) Anko Mitarashi (Naruto) Tsunade (Naruto) Yoruichi Shihoin (Bleach) Rangiku Matsumoto (Bleach) Kallen Stadtfeld (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) Ren (DearS) Top Favorite Naruto Episodes: I just had to put this list in. Even though the Naruto story is filled with clutter and has annoyed me a lot from time to time, I feel that there are several episodes out of the many hundreds that must be acknowledged as top of the line and worth watching. The best of the best. Again, this is my own opinion so you probably may have a different list, but these are episodes that I feel are the best in the entire series and would recommend to anybody. Just to point out, these are episodes in the series that do the main character Naruto justice and the show in general: 1. Naruto Episode 101 - Gotta See! Gotta Know! Kakashi-sensei's True Face! 2. Naruto Shippuden Episode 186 - Ah, the Medicine of Youth! 3. Naruto Shippuden Episode 238 - Sai's Day Off 4. Naruto Shippuden Episode 235 - The Kunoichi of Nadeshiko Village 5. Naruto Shippuden Episode 236 - Friends You Can Count On 6. Top Ten Dragonball Z Moments: In honor of one of the classics, I have to mention ten of the greatest moments that happened in this show that has forever etched itself into my memories, so here we go: 1. Gohan's First Super Saiyan 2 Transformation 2. Vegeta's Final Flash against Perfect Cell 3. Goku's Surprise (It's over 9000!) 4. Gohan's Father-Son Kamehameha against Ultra Perfect Cell 5. Goku's First Super Saiyan Transformation 6. Goku vs. Vegeta (First Fight) 7. Vegeta's Sacrifice against Majin Buu (Even though the entire Buu Saga sucked ass for obvious reasons) 8. Goku vs Frieza 9. Goku and Piccolo's Driving Lesson Episode Honourable Mentions: Gohan Goes Super Saiyan for the First Time Mirai Trunks First Appears Ginyu Force Beatdown Frieza's First Death on Namek Goku's First Death Gohan's Hidden Power Cell First Appears Cell's Massacre Tien vs Semi-Imperfect Cell Mirai Trunks reveals his parents Vegeta's Pink T-Shirt Top Ten Dragonball Z Villains: This show has some great characters and terrific villains. So why don't we see how they rate. :) 1. Frieza 2. Cell 3. Broly 4. Vegeta 5. Cooler 6. Dabura 7. Dr. Willow 8. Androids 17# and 18# 9. Super Buu 10. Radditz Honorable Mentions: Dr. Gero Babidi Majin Buu Top Ten Least Favourite Anime Characters: Need I say more? Every once in a while I come across a character who is completely unbearable, and I think I know the reasons why. Among the list of characteristics and attributes that gives me reasons to be pissed off at these characters include a combination of insensitivity, arrogance, indifference, they're too strong for their own good, they're regarded as 'geniuses', they've killed characters I liked, have retarded outlooks on life, attract all the girls while having no desirable qualities whatsoever, are deceptive to a fault, and basically show or feel no love. You gotta have love man. Furthermore, I don't like characters that don't have thos hilarious, super devolved freak-outs that other characters have. I'd like to see them lose their composure more than other characters, because it gives them more dimensions as characters. Of course, this is but a rant, so take it whicher way you want. So here we go... 1. Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto) 2. Gendo Ikari (Evangaleon) 3. Suzaku Kururugi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) - P.S: I can't tell you how much I hate this guy. He's the cock blocker of anime. 4. Itagaki Manabu (Hajime no Ippo) 5. Jellal (Fairy Tale) 6. Tsuchimikado (To Aru Majutsu no Index) 7. Tobi (Naruto) The dick Tobi, not the goofy one. I liked the goofy one. 8. Nina Einstein (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) 9. Toshiyuki Aoshima (Ah! My Goddess) 10. Envy (Fullmetal Alchemist) Top Ten Favourite Anime Openings: The best of the best anime openings ever made for the shows they lead into. 1. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) Opening 1 - Guren no Yumiya by Linked Horizon 2. Naruto Shippuden Opening 4 (English Sub & Dub) - CLOSER by Inoue Joe 3. Baccano! Opening - Guns N Roses 4. Cowboy Beebop Opening - Tank! 5. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig - Rise 6. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Opening 2 - Hologram 7. One Piece Opening 12 8. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun Opening 1 9. Code Geass Opening 1 10. Gurren Lagann Opening 2 Top Ten Favourite Songs: 1. Chasing Hearts by Miwa 2. Far Away by Nickelback 3. Summer Paradise by Simple Plan 4. My Sharona by the Knack 5. We Built This City by Starship 6. Son of Man by Phil Collins 7. Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something 8. Bad by Michael Jackson 9. Kids in America by No Secrets 10. Gun’s and Roses by Paradise Lunch Top Favourite Fanfictions: It’s really hard making any decisions for this list because there are just so many, lol…. The Clothes off Your Back by FateChica Lightning Passion by DarkHeart81 Seduce My Wife! by Narf-For-The-Garthoc Story Stats: In Progress: Drifting Melody of the Wanderers Art of Appropriation Steam and Sweat On Hiatus Discontinued: Budokan II: Darkness Returns Failed Projects: Deleted A Warrior’s Heart, a Hunter’s Honor Warrior of the Dark Ascension Other Accounts Deviant Art: AlphaDelta1001 - http:/// Random Articles: A little post from a Mystic Vegeta 666 I wanted to hang on to. :) Mystic Gohan is the strongest non-fused, non absorption using, non GT characterTo begin I will state that in this topic I am not acknowledging Dragon Ball GT in anyway what so ever from this point forward. Also to clarify I am saying that GOHAN AT THE END OF DBZ IS THE STRONGEST NON-FUSED, NON ABSORPTION USING, NON GT CHARACTER. Now I will begin: 1. The Mystic power up for Gohan was permanent in fact if you look closely enough even after the ten years of peace Gohan has the same hair style and same look about his eyes. 2. Also for the record Mystic was a ONE time transformation. After Elder Kai unlocked his power Gohan basically went Super Saiyan forever with much greater power. In fact one way of putting it is Gohan went Full Power Super Saiyan 3.5 with no power drain. 3. Now we KNOW that Gohan is stronger than SSj3 Gotenks. When Gohan arrives to battle Super Buu I believe Trunks and Goten state that yes Gohan is stronger than than they were when they were fused as Gotenks. 4. Now with this revelation we can connect the dots a realize that SSj3 Gotenks is more powerful than SSj 3 Goku. The reason this must be true is if you look at the SSj 3 Goku vs. Fat Buu battle Goku barely has an edge over Buu. While Gotenks at Super Saiyan can make a stand against a much more powerful Super Buu. 5. So with all of this info. we know that Super Saiyan Goku would not stand a chance against Super Buu. So therefore if Super Saiyan GotenksSuper Saiyan Goku then of course we must assume since Gotenks has a far better mastery of Super Saiyan 3 that 6. So with all this info we know that Mystic GohanSuper Saiyan 3 GotenksSuper Saiyan 3 Goku 7. To finally end any Goku arguments Goku was scared to fight Super Buu the same Super Buu that Gohan PWNED so yeah GohanSuper BuuSuper Saiyan 3 Goku and Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta. 8. Now to conclude this some people say that Goku is more powerful because Gohan did not train for ten years at the end of Dragon Ball Z. It is entirely possible that Goku surpassed Gohan the ten years between the Buu Saga and the end of DBZ, but we have no evidence of to support how strong Goku got, and if Gohan lost power or below I have a small list of what we know, and what we don't know: Gohan had no need to train as is power up was most likely permanent (though it can be assumed he didn't train probably) We do not know for sure if Gohan did not train at all for ten years We are not sure if Goku was training (though it can be assumed, but still) We have know way of seeing how strong Goku was To add to the point above we do not know how strong Uub was so that is not a fair measure of strength. I cannot believe that Uub is as strong as Kid Buu simply because if after training for 7 years in the after life Base Goku cannot take Super Perfect Cell than I doubt after 10 years of Earth training Base Goku could stand up to Kid Buu If Gotenks mastered the Super Saiyan 3 form then I cannot believe Goku can get stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks without another transformation Please listen to this the world will not end if Gohan is stronger than Goku. These are just the facts all of these things have been stated in the manga AND even the ANIME. Possibly, this is all I can think of at the moment, sorry. |
