Every fanfiction writer wants to believe their stories will be finished. But so many of them (perhaps even the majority) get distracted, or don't have time, or just lose interest in their own fanfictions. But even so we keep our stories online because we still like them and we'd like to see them through one day. We tell ourselves we didn't lose interest, and that there will always be time to get back to writing them.
But eventually a time comes when we have to realize that we won't get back to writing them. And that time has come for me. It's with a heavy heart that I finally type this out: I don't intend to finish any of my fanfictions for the foreseeable future. It's been hard for me to believe this because these fics were so important to me - but I don't have an interest in continuing the huge story arcs that Thrash and St. Lucifer's would have had, and, though I still love the fic, my time spent writing Clash of the Teens could simply be better spent writing original content. So I'm going to stop believing that I can finish these. Now, just as I used to whenever I'd update my profile, I'm going to go through all four of my fanfictions and talk about what's happening to them and how I feel about them.
1. Clash of the Teens: Release the Krapen - My only truly mature fanfiction, I can't believe it's already been so long since it was updated. Here's the truth: I tried twice, all the way into 2013, to write the next chapter of this fanfiction, because I had ideas of how it was going to go so that it wouldn't be too long and so I could definitely finish it. But I was stupid. For some reason, for some unfathomable reason, I would only write my fanfictions in ff.net's own document editor. The only copy would be there. And documents on ff.net are deleted after 90 (previously 60) days. So, both times the half-finished episode 6 of this fanfiction was lost to the void after I waited 90 days without editing the document. Why didn't I just put it in Microsoft Word? Well, I think it was probably because I couldn't believe I would be so stupid to forget to come on the site and not write for 90 whole days. But it happened. Twice. I have no one to blame but myself. And I'm not gonna lie, I still hold out hope that one day this fic will be finished. I want so much to write about what will become of Robin and Starfire, who escaped Control Freak's clutches, and Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy, who were less fortunate. Because I still like those characters and still like what I did, and would have done with them. And because I liked it so much, Clash of the Teens will remain on this site. As for its prequel, read about it below.
2. Thrash: Alm and Gelios' Rise to Power - Where it all began. Spawned from a "Zatch Bell: Behind the Scenes" fanfiction on the long-since deleted Zatch Bell: The Card Battle forums, this was my first fanfiction on this website, a look at two guys just trying to make it as a band in LA. It wasn't a very good fic. If I wrote something in it that I thought wasn't very good, instead of deleting it and writing something better I'd just write commentary right there in the fic about how it wasn't good. Part one of the third chapter was an exposition dump where I turned the characters of Cowboy Bebop into a band that existed in the past of the fic, and then said that they all died. I knew this wasn't good but I wrote it anyway, and said in the fanfiction that readers probably wouldn't like it. Who in their right mind would do something like that? Me, apparently. Thrash was fun and I liked the way I wrote the characters (the main two who were markedly different from how they were in Zatch Bell, and the other two, Lee and Edna, who were OC descendants of other anime characters), but it's frankly very embarrassing to read and very inconsistent, so I've saved it in a word document and deleted it from the site. I actually planned to rewrite the entire thing to make it better, and got a little bit through a first chapter, but it wasn't to be. Goodbye, Thrash. I loved you and maybe the concept of a demon band will show up in an original work one day.
3. St. Lucifer's College for Daemons of the Nether - The fic that always got the least attention. Like I mentioned earlier I had big plans for it, and a few characters and events outlined with no way, and no real interest, to get there. This was a crossover featuring demons and monsters from all kinds of media, starring a younger Lord Loss from Darren Shan's Demonata series (which to this day I've only read the first two books of...but unlike this fanfiction, I still plan to finish this series eventually), and a younger Zant from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This fanfiction was to feature Majin Boo and Trigon (who make appearances in the second chapter), Midna (who is alluded to in the third), a little Ridley from Metroid as a pet Zant would raise for awhile, a female character who I've unfortunately forgotten the details of (I feel pretty had about that), Him from the Powerpuff Girls as Loss's master, and even a half-bat character inspired by Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell album. No kidding. I looked forward to building the character relationships in the fic (Loss and Majin Boo were going to play chess at one point) and getting Zant to where he needed to go to end up as the villain of his game. But I lost interest pretty early on, and the fic was just sitting on my page with hardly any content. So I've also saved it in a word document and deleted it. Farewell, St. Lucifer's. "St. Lucifer". I still think that's pretty funny.
4. TUMSATTFE or Smells Like Titan Spirit - The Ultra Mega Super Awesome Teen Titans Fanfic Extravaganza. I won't ever forget that name for the rest of my life. What started with a 14-year-old's thought of "What if Starfire walked into the Titans Tower living room naked one day? Why would she do that?" went from being a zany action fic to one with a legitimate plot that, being the only fanfiction I finished, is a good way to track the maturation of my writing and myself. And so I'm keeping it here, because of course you can't have the sequel without the prequel, even if they don't have much to do with each other. Oh, and so I don't forget: Trigon's original reason in this fic for wanting to destroy Earth was so he could get every copy of Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, an alternative cut of a movie that I still have never seen that came out a few months before I started the fic. I thought it was funny but I'm kind of glad I forgot I intended to do that before I wrote Trigon into the story.
I'm gonna be sad about all this for awhile, but it's better to face the truth. These fanfictions all helped me in some way and I'll always have them saved somewhere. So with that I say, thank you to everyone who ever read even a sentence of any of my fanfictions, or took a look at this profile page to learn a little more about me. If you even for a second thought to look at what I had written, what had come out of my mind, what had come out of the love for these animes and cartoons and books, than I give my thanks to you.
And thanks to Roxius, an author whose fanfictions were weird, interesting, and sometimes a little sexy, and just about the only person I followed with any regularity on this site - a person who, holy shit, it still writing fanfictions, and who, holy shit, has a Zatch Bell avatar right now.
And thanks to Diry, who wrote a weird yuri Puffy Ami Yumi fanfiction that I just never forgot. You had a cool name and I just feel it would be remiss not to mention you. Hey, now I might even be making my readers uncomfortable, just like the old days. That's great, right?
Thanks to all of you. Keep on writing. I will.

P.S. The 143 is for Snorlax, who is my favorite Pokemon.
Below is my old profile intro and name explanation, from around 2007. I keep it here because it helps me remember the kind of person I used to be. He was a little weird but he was a pretty cool guy.
Hi there! I'm TooManyGoodCharacters143, normally known as Umaniac143 (Uman for short), and I love everybody. But I HATE yaoi. So don't get all yaoing in my face or I will get angry! But keep in mind that just because I hate it doesn't mean I won't interact with people who like it. I try to give people a chance no matter what their interests are. Alright, maybe I'm not really that nice, but I try...to try. Now that you've been warned, here's some stuff that I like:
Nintendo, Gorillaz, One Piece, Zatch Bell, The books of Abarat, It, The Dark Tower Series, The Cirque Du Freak Series, The Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Demonata Series (I've only read the first two), David Bowie , ELO, The Beatles, Lost, The Venture Bros., and No More Heroes. I like anime and manga, but there are only a select few that I would say I "love", and so I don't consider myself a weeaboo or a japanophile. Reading manga is just a hobby for me (though it's a very good hobby).
(here's where an update on what I was up to with my fics would go)
Now that that's over with, I'll explain my name. When I revised my name (which was originally Umaniac143), I wanted the first word of it to be the name of an anime character that I like. My choices were:
"Radical" Edward (featured in my avatar)
Momon (From Zatch Bell)
To me, this was a lot. So I said "Screw it! There are too many good characters to choose from, and that EXACTLY what my name is gonna be!!" And so TooManyGoodCharacters143 came to be. As for the 143...You're just going to have to figure that out for yourself.
