![]() Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter. Greetings to all my wonderful readers, Thank you for finding me and enjoying my stories. Many of you have written to me wondering if they will ever be updated, and the truth is that at the moment, I don't know. As a young LGBTQIA person, I found refuge and acceptance in the world of Harry Potter. I found a place where I felt I could be myself. I made wonderful friends - including the fantastic Mischief Managers who I know know introduced many of you to Casting Moonshadows. Finding out about JKR's views on trans people was a real blow. I cannot abide that members of our community have been victimised, discriminated against and excluded from a world we had all assumed would be welcoming of those of us who often find themselves misunderstood and excluded in our everyday lives. I feel like I have had a precious part of my childhood and young adulthood ripped violently from me and I have been left bleeding. The wizarding world was my refuge, my therapy and my comfort blanket. I have stopped buying any Harry Potter merchandise. I will not watch the films on any streaming services anymore, nor will I watch any future series or films linked to the world. I will not do anything to contribute in even a small way to financing the discriminatory vitriol that JKR is using her platform to promote. My stories have always been free and have never funded JKR in any way, but the wizarding world has soured for me now, and I am not sure if I will ever feel ready to come back to it - even through fanfiction. This may change in the future - particularly if JKR comes to realise how damaging and ignorant her views are and changes her mind. But for the moment, I am done. I may occasionally drop in to edit some of the horrific writing from early chapters, just from sheer embarrassment about the state of it being out there on the internet, but I will not be adding anything new. I will leave these stories here, because I know many of you have written to me to say you revisit them often as a form of comfort and escapism from your difficult lives. I would not wish to take that from you. Please read them in the knowledge that in Moonsign's wizarding world, trans people are welcomed and celebrated - along with everyone else who just wishes to have the freedom to be themselves. It is a place where we care for one another, support one another and stand up for those who experience discrimination and willful ignorance in their lives. Your reviews pop into my emails still and I read them and enjoy them, so don't stop sending them. It warms my heart to know that in spite of everything my writing can bring comfort to un-met friends around the world. And when you are ready to move one, there are thousands of wonderful books and authors out there that would welcome you into their words with open arms - not matter who you are. Find them and immerse yourselves in the magic and adventures of a thousand other worlds. With love always Moonsign |
