Author has written 2 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Hello! I'm Antares, and if you're taking the time out to read this, I'm touched and it is a pleasure to meet you.
Initially, I created this account only for the purposes of reading but I got inspired and well, now I'm going to be writing.
I enjoy reviewing and providing constructive criticism. Emphasis on constructive criticism. I love helping people in a positive manner, encouraging them, and try to help them see the talent within themselves.
If I was ever mean to you in a review, I sincerely request you to forgive me. It's inexcusable and I'm not going to justify what I said or did. I have my reasons but that doesn't mean it is ok to be harsh. The internet has enough bad people and I try to avoid being amongst them, but there are certain occasions and for that, I apologize.
Ok, what do I like and what don't I like...
Harry Potter. Love the series, love JKR and I'm very unapologetic about it. Mostly love Harry-centric stories but if there is a well-written OC involved, I'm happy to read that too. I have my phases with the series though. There are times I enjoy dark Harry and angst and sometimes I get tired of it. It changes. Also, hate Emma Watson. Like Hermione, but that doesn't translate to Emma Watson. Books over Movies. Have not watched Fantastic Beasts, have the book though. Also, even though I love JKR, I wholeheartedly reject Cursed Child. Doesn't exist for me. Hate the names. I'd rather a Pigwideon than an Albus Severus.
Love Fleur, if done properly. It is very tricky to get this pairing right, but if done, it can be beautiful. You just need to ensure that the plot holes and reasons are fresh, not too generic and be a bit careful there.
Daphne Greengrass. No I don't have a thing for blondes. Also read a couple of brunette daphne stories too. I just love the fact that you use what is essentially an OC to write a beautiful story. But again, need to be careful. She shouldn't be a saviour who changes everything, so yes, needs a lot of attention.
Hermione. Used to love it, still might read a few if done well. Loved H J Potter. First fanfic I read and loved it. Reminded me of some really special times. Wouldn't read a similar fic now though. Also after Emma Watson, kind of lost my taste for it. Also I hate how OP Hermione is made out to be. She isn't a saint or an angel or God. She has flaws, she is problematic. We need to acknowledge this as a fandom.
Ginny - read maybe one or two? Wasn't sold on it in canon but I'm coming around to it.
Love unconventional pairings but again, it mostly is the writing that brings a person in.
Snape. Just no. Initially I was cool, but no, no snape. Bad human being.
Draco. See lines above.
Neville Longbottom. I get Ron bashing fics, I didn't like ron either after getting into fanfics. Then I read the books again and realized, yeah, I was an idiot. But that aside, why Neville? The fandom pushes him in the spotlight too much. He isn't a ron replacement and he isn't that good. The only reason he is popular is because of the actor (no issues with him). Separate the two and you might find the flaws in the character. Neville isn't a good person.
If you don't like it, don't read it. Don't waste either of our time with negativity.
While constructive criticism is appreciated, I'm not looking for it. I'm just expressing myself and don't really care for comments.
I believe everyone can write and everyone has the right to write. No one should be judged or called a bad writer. It isn't about talent, but merely the amount of effort one puts into the work they do. Guidance can help to a great extent on certain occasions, and motivation too. While the talent might help a writer become great, it is never the determining factor. It all comes down to effort and how much time and effort you are willing to put into it.
Also, never let anyone criticise your story. They have no right. Writing is a free space for you to express yourself. If they don't like it, it is their loss for not being able to understand you. IT IS YOUR STORY. WRITE IT YOUR WAY.
All the best. Have a good day.
