Author has written 17 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, Ninja Turtles, Incredibles, Bible, My Little Pony, and Monsters Inc.. Okay then time to update this a tad. In any case I'm in my mid-20s (and thus probably becoming uncomfortably close to being 10 years older than the average age of fanfic writer), female, and until recently a Masters student in the Biological sciences. I am atheist/agnostic. Was raised presbyterian christian if you're curious and from N.Ireland. That being said my sole Bible fic is actually not bashing it- rather shocking I know. I'm also pansexual myself and find the idea of 'warning' for slash or femslash in specific fics pretty ridiculous so if that's a deal breaker for you and it offends your sensibilities please look elsewhere. I will however try to warn about things which actually matter these days- but tread lightly in older fics, not only are they of poorer quality but warnings may not always exist where they should. (I'm pretty sure for instance either Randall or Raphael of Monsters Inc/TMNT fame have said something objectionable.) Re. Some deleted stories/fandom drama: I have some fics I'm not proud of here, some I'm okay with overall. I'm realising that me starting overly ambitious multichapter fics or promising prompts before I do them is kind of a bad idea- eventually I run out of steam or it just doesn't happen. I've since deleted the Monsters Inc fanfic 'Connections' partly due to this and I apologise for those who liked that fanfic (especially since it even resulted in fanart). But honestly upon re-reading it it had so many problems and I wasn't especially proud of it, not anymore and a part of me wonders why I was. And fanfic is supposed to be fun anyway. It was overly-complicated for one thing especially since I didn't have a concrete plan (at least I learned from my mistakes there with my current 'Family' project). I do believe Randall can be redeemed in some fashion, but my opinions about Mike were immature and I was even treating my favourite character Sulley in such a way that I didn't like. It was also riddled with errors, my Boo was probably a Sue, and most unfortunately it did become the source of some fandom drama I unfortunately didn't help with (and I gravely apologise for that) and so it's pretty much soured me to it. I just feel embarrassed with myself thinking of what resulted. I think it really went to my head at the end of the day. In the end I'm more pursuing 'Family'. Which I hope won't 'woobify' Randall too much nor villify any of the characters (not even Waternoose, yeah we'll see his side soon enough). He's more or less still unpleasant to people and his actions still must be questioned but I hope to make it at least vaguely understandable in some way (and even have some laughs! It can't be a constant downer- I wouldn't survive.) I suppose Connections may be an idea I'll later revisit. But I wouldn't hold my breath, honestly. But you never know. In the end though: TL: DR- Connections: I wasn't having fun with it, just having the old thing up here wasn't making me happy and I felt like a fresher start. I apologise once again for those who will miss it. I think it's perfectly fine if you like Randall as out-of-out evil or not. Randall in of itself wasn't originally -intended- to be sympathetic anyway (and he does many terrible things!), and I can perfectly understand if it annoys people. I guess I'm having my own fun with the character you know? Plus I actually plan to write fics which don't involve the guy. I've always loved Sulley and I'm becoming quite appreciative of Mike. In the end with regards Randall I do think there can be more to him, but I don't believe in shaming people who think differently. After all, even as a jerk he can be entertaining! Another fic I'll discuss is 'Not Afraid'- honestly it just airs out rants with regards DH and the epilogue, looking back it was MORE than just a bit vitriolic, but I'll keep it up for old times sake I guess. Besides I think Percy's profession does suit him in it. On another note this thing is hooked up to the email account I had during my bachelor's degree so expect late replies or maybe no replies at all. But I love them all! If they're positive or constructive or even better a mix of positive and constructive, I'll be happy. I actually hope to write a novel (a fantasy series in fact bangs on in my head), but of course I'll have to be more disciplined for that. I started writing fanfic a bit later than most (at 19) and I have mild dyslexia- hence I assure you my first fic here is terrible partly for that reason and at times I miss mistakes- plus I don't take this too seriously to get a Beta (though I do my best by myself). In a way however fanfic has helped me more in terms of writing than school ever did, and I thank both my past and present critiquers. You in essence, are my true Betas. Kudos to you. At one time, I was actually worse at this thing as my first fic (a TMNT fic with a female OC) here shows! :D Current multi-chapter fic in progress: Family (Monsters Inc): Sulley and Randall (Main characters). AU. (Alternative Universe). Hearing a less than pleasant exchange between Waternoose and Randall makes Sulley more than a little concerned. But will offering the abrasive Randall friendship and support really change anything at all? Because sometimes family is what you choose. A/N: More or less an AU fic where quite by chance Sulley stumbles across something he shouldn't 6 months prior to the events of the original movie. In his attempts to understand what's going on and his genuine concern for Randall a friendship begins to form. Though it will take some time, after all Randall is quite skeptical and doesn't care much for Sulley himself at first. May try to incorporate what I can gather from the newest prequel as well on occasion but of course that may be playing with fire! I also upgrade a background character Betty into a more prominent role. Chapter postings will be around every other Sunday at their longest. There isn't really any serious shipping in this beyond the fact Celia and Mike of course are together. Current chapters posted: Prologue; Chapter 1; Chapter 2 Current chapter progression: Delirium (Part 2/3) I'm close, so close! Minimum date aimed for posting: 23rd of June to the 30th of June You know one thing I hate about writing? Other plot bunnies keep annoying me while I'm writing something else, it's even worse when they're multi-chapter ideas and I have no idea how to go about them. Regardless I shall post some of these ideas here. One-shot ideas are however ones I may actually try. Mimicry: Monsters Inc: (Oneshot- Sequel to Found) Sulley finds Randall but in order to ensure their immediate survival he may have to take a cue from him. (Action scene practice, more or less). To Forgive/ May the Best Monster Win: Monsters Inc: Oneshot. Sulley brought Randall back; Mike thinks Sulley is all too easily tricked. Randall it seems, is as competitive as ever. Mike perspective. Third person. Can I keep it? (One shot) "Sulley you're not supposed to name it. Once you name it you start getting attached to it!" Before Boo came, Sulley used to kind-of-accidentally-okay-deliberately bring more regular strays home. Much to Mike's annoyance. Sulley and Mike centric. Dangerous Game: Monsters Inc: (Multi-chapter fic- Sequel to Found.) A man has already got a name for himself for hunting humans, but as it happens the so-called 'Most Dangerous Game' is actually somewhat of a disappointment. Upon finding Randall and Sulley however he feels he may have come across a real challenge. Meanwhile Mike upon trying to find Sulley runs into two human women- a hunter who has a bone to pick and a detective who are both on the criminals trail. Dark but some comedic relief in Mike and the women who have to deal with him. No shipping. The Obvious Solution: Monsters Inc/Incredibles (Multi-chapter) Sulley follows and finds Randall, but as it happens the ravings from the Monster World about kids flying and blasting things with lazer cannons or using mind powers wasn't all that far fetched. Unable to return and armed with Randall's blending abilities and Sulley's strength, the obvious solution is to become super-heroes. Pretty silly and humourous but would get its odd sad and even dark moments. (Title idea from Evil Diva) Three's a Crowd: Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (I have no idea how long this would be, possibly a long oneshot or short multi-chapter) Frankie is working hard to help Foul Larry out in various ways after the events of Good Wilt Hunting. Wilt has to admit, somehow their friendship bothers him even if they've both technically buried the hatchet, but he isn't sure he wants to dwell too long on why. Some Wilt/Frankie shipping perchance? (Don't judge me.) |
