Author has written 9 stories for Harry Potter, and Pride and Prejudice. Hi! Well, the teenagers who led me to fanfiction are teenagers no more. In fact, the daughter has flown the nest (literally, as she moved from our home near the east coast all the way to Utah!), and the son graduates high school in May 2018. I've added a niece who adds much joy to my life. Though I still enjoy a good Harry Potter story, I also like The Avengers, Lord Peter Wimsey, and Pride and Prejudice. Many moons ago, I majored in English and minored in French at university. Currently, I'm employed full-time as a publications specialist at my alma mater. My job responsibilities have evolved from writing and editing copy and taking photos for an alumni newspaper to rarely taking photos but still editing and writing for an alumni magazine. I also now help maintain a college website, online and mobile events calendars, and a visual display system. I still find that FanFiction is a great way to relax after doing the millionth article on the guest speaker who spoke to the captive audience of students who only came to get extra credit! I suppose it is the fact that I spend my days writing news articles that influences my story-writing style. If narrative is not your cup of tea, my stories are probably not for you. If so, welcome aboard! Pet Peeves The grammarian in me goes nuts when I read "stationary" (stand still) when "stationery" (write on) is needed or when "I" is used as the object of a preposition or verb. For heaven's sake, if it does not follow a form of the verb "to be," use "me"! You will rarely be wrong. Abandoned stories are annoying, too. If you've lost the muse, say so, but give us a summary of what you had intended to happen to allow closure, please. |
