"One nice thing about putting the thing away for a couple of months before looking at it is that you start appreciate your own wit. Of course, this can be carried too far. But it's kind of cool when you crack up a piece of writing, and then realize you wrote it. I recommend this feeling."

"I believe that liberty is the only genuinely valuable thing that men have invented, at least in the field of government, in a thousand years. I believe that it is better to be free than to be not free, even when the former is dangerous and the latter safe. - H. L. Mencken, "Why Liberty?" 1927
“If our civic attitude is more freedom, less judgment, less morality, less interference from the state, less interference from the family, less interference from the church. If we are working hard at silencing those very voices that give us protection in society we ought not be surprised when they cease to protect. It is to the degree that we encourage those institutions properly, that evil is controlled. The answer is God's answer. Government properly functioning; the family properly exalted and functioning; the church properly being allowed to function in culture instead of being made fun of and marginalized. That's when you are going to see some difference.” – Greg Koukl, Stand to Reason radio
My blue rose's little essay on homosexuality:
I believe that homosexuality is morally wrong and bad for society. I do not hate persons who practice homosexuality but I hate of the sexual act that homosexuals perform (in the same way, I do not hate adulterers but hate the act of adultery). I understand and agree that homosexuals have the right to practice homosexuality without fear of prejudice and discrimination. I also understand and agree that homosexuals have the right to practice homosexuality in the privacy of their own homes without government interference. I respect that. In turn, I hope that homosexuals and their advocates will respect my right to protest the cultural acceptance of their behavior.
I do not have an issue so much with the fact that people are practicing homosexuality as much as I have a problem with the global, societal and cultural trend towards the acceptance and celebration of homosexual relationships and behavior. My main concern is not about homosexual behavior per se but about validating a behavior that is immoral and bad for society.I know that I will offend many people with my view on this, but I believe that silence on this issue is a form of acceptance or cowardice. As Martin Luther in 1521 said before the Imperial Diet:
“Unless I am convinced by sacred Scripture or by evident reason, I cannot recant, for my conscience is held captive by the Word of God, and to act against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me.”
