![]() Author has written 34 stories for Sherlock, Psych, Leverage, and Hobbit. I love to read, and usually end up reading far more than I attempt to write. Being a perfectionist as well doesn't help- I usually stop writing after a few chapters because I can't get it "just right" to meet my standards, then get distracted and go read someone else's fic instead :) I may be persnickety about spelling and grammar, but (as you'll see in my fics) I do have somewhat of an... obsession? love affair? inappropriate use? with commas. Tolkien was in love with description, spending pages upon pages describing his settings. Poe, however, disliked verbose clutter and felt that an author should go back over his or her own work and remove each word, seeing if the work still made perfect sense, and if so then make it those words less. I hope my middling offerings fall somewhere between those two literary masters! As to myself, I love reading a variety of categories: The Hobbit, Leverage, Doctor Who, Sherlock (BBC only, I've resisted watching Elementary with everything in me), NCIS, Harry Potter, Star Trek... pretty much all of them have wide open universes in which an author can easily play 'what if...'. Love whump as long as there's fluff after; adore looong fics (like bobmin's Sunrise/Sunset pair); and enjoy giving something new a try. While most of my fics are here, my explicit fics are posted only to AO3 (akblake) which is my primary archive. When I say explicit, I do mean graphic languages, sexual contact, het, slash, trios, and pretty much anything I can imagine. If that tickles your fancy, you're welcome to read them; if they're not your cup of tea, then don't go looking and you shan't find them :) As to the topic of places other than here, I am: I have done several (unrelated) fills for the Hobbit Kink Meme, which is the most *awesome* place to find story ideas. Not all prompts are "kinky" despite the name (though if you have a delicate constitution, I'd recommend caution as some can be raunchy or incredibly... unedited), so I suggest taking a look if you're ever gasping for a plot idea... I have to quit reading after a few pages because my idea notebook becomes too full and I get into trouble ;) Little Touches - http://www.fanfiction.net/s/10012509/1/Little-Touches My 'Friends' series has been a great source of enjoyment for me- fun to write, and so very plausible given the family-like setup to Leverage. It's a universe set in the moments outside of episodes (after, between, or off-camera) where Eliot, Parker, and sometimes Hardison get to look after each other. After all, it's what friends do! Very minor Eliot/Parker though most of that is unintentional (it's my favorite pairing and tends to bleed through) and I do try to keep the Parker/Hardison canon relationship for any writing set around the episodes after they're a couple. Here's the reading order as dictated by the main episode for each (as I may not write them in order, though they can all stand alone): A Very Rough Landing - http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9008595/1/A-Very-Rough-Landing |
