Who I am: I'm apparently very lazy at updating this little blurb about who I am, as things have changed. I'm in my mid-twenties, happily married to my high school sweetheart, raising our daughter, and hopelessly nerdy. Most of my interests are steeped in fandom and other related pursuits. Oh, and I'm a girl (in case the name "Emily" didn't give it away).
As you can tell from my pen name, I like books a lot. I won't bore you with a list of my favorite books, but suffice it to say, I enjoy reading. However, I usually don't like fan fiction of my favorite books, especially not Les Miserables. That book is perfect the way it is.
I'm hoping to write a novel next November (2015); it'll be my first venture into original fic, so while I suspect my activity here will decline soon (I have a lot of research to do), I hope that I'll have all WIPs finished and no plans for any sequels. Once the novel's done, I'm pretty sure I'll be back here happily playing with other people's characters; making up my own is so difficult!
What I like to read: I've fallen back into Naruto fandom; it's all Neji's fault. The manga may have ended, but fan fiction never dies! I will never say no to a good fic from Tales of the Abyss, particularly ones that feature Jade and/or Dist as the main character(s), as Jade/Dist is my forever OTP. I also enjoy reading stories about Once Upon a Time, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Beetlejuice, The Princess and the Frog, Teen Titans, and miscellaneous other fandoms.
What I write: I like to write one shots, as they are quick, easy to read over and work into a coherent story, and don't require updating. However, I have been experimenting with writing longer works, but as I am not always great at thinking my story plots through, I try to make sure I have everything lined up before publishing a chapter. This does not always work, and this is your warning here that I am horrible at updating in a timely fashion. I do insane amounts of research for my stories and have a very hard time posting anything I feel is less than perfect. While I am sensitive to criticism, I would rather have a gentle critique or common mistakes pointed out to me so that I may fix what is wrong than have someone be afraid to point it out.
Currently, I've been writing a lot of Neji-centric fic (lots of NejiHina too), but I might branch out at some point and explore other aspects of the Naruto universe; I also have a couple Once Upon a Time fics I need to finish (don't write long epics during a TV season; every plan you have for the fic will change and it'll never get done). Some of this is Tumblr-exclusive (sometimes because it doesn't follow FF.net's TOS), but I'm pretty good about cross-posting here whenever possible. If you want to check out the Tumblr-exclusive fic, go here to my fic masterpost.
A Note about Pairings: I ship a lot of things, but when I find an OTP, I ship hard. A lot of my stories involve pairings of some sort, but I am trying to broaden my writing and make romance less of a focus. There are also certain pairings I adore and pairings I loathe. I am content to either ignore or not comment on pairings I do not enjoy and ask the reader to employ the same policy if an undesirable pairing is found in one of my stories. I am referring in particular to my great love for the Neji/Hinata (Naruto) pairing; I am well-aware of cultural taboos and believe that when it comes down to it, fandom is fandom.
If you like my stories, I assure you that there is more coming from my crazy brain, but it comes very, very slowly.
