Author has written 11 stories for Rurouni Kenshin, and Highlander.
Hi. Thanks for stopping by.
Drop me a line to let me know what you think of my work. Those reviews are important. I love the compliments - who doesn't?! - but I need critical feedback, too. No flames, please - they don't help. Not that I've gotten any - everyone is wonderfully polite and supportive. But I want my stories to be rich, and to live, so that I enjoy their creation and all of you can enjoy them too. Rich stories are the ones I like to read, so I'd like to be able to write like that, too. Thanks.
Be aware that I own nothing of importance except my good name and the love of my family, friends, and two fat cats. Any copyrighted characters or situations I write about are the sole property of their creators and the creator's authorized agents. If I play in your world, consider it a compliment, for you have captured my imagination. I will use your people gently, because that's the way I'd like my people to be used if they ever come to life on a page anyone besides me ever reads. Other than that, I go wherever my pen takes me and while it sometimes leaves me hanging, I'll try not to do that to anyone who takes on one of my stories. There's nothing worse than getting involved in a story and then not being able to finish it.
So there it is. See ya around...
Hey, just a reminder, voting for the UFO awards starts tomorrow at(take out all the spaces). I have 2 stories graciously nominated by persons unknown (thank you!!) so go check 'em out and if you like them, vote for them!
Go into the Vote 2007 section on the above page and then scroll down to "Rurouni Kenshin" to see the first story - "Passing The Night Stars". You can see I'm up against some very talented competition there. Then keep scrolling down to the "Works in Progress" section to the second story listed (it's a crossover) entitled "Caged". Links are provided for you to pop into the stories and read them.
Even if you decide not to vote for my stories, I'd appreciate a review on what I've done thus far. We authors live for reviews and your honest feedback helps us write better for your enjoyment and our own.
Hey, I got second in the Rurouni Kenshin category in the UFO awards! What a great way to celebrate a year of publishing stories. (Pen is doing a happy-dance) Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me. It really means a lot to know that a bunch of you like what I do. (Pauses to bow very formally, then starts to caper again) Hang with me, there's more on the way. Not fast, but coming along, so keep checking back.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I moved "Double-edged Sword to the Peacemaker pages to see if it would glean any interest there. That means, of course, that I lost the 3 reviews it's gotten so far, which kinda sucks, but ff(dot)net doesn't allow us to crosslist, so there wasn't much else to do. If you saved it as a favorite or listed it for story alert, those links probably aren't valid anymore, but you can re-link it by going to the list below. Sorry about the trouble. It just doesn't seem to be attracting any interest on the RK pages, which I guess isn't much of a surprise because Okita's not exactly a well-known character in RK. Even if you can sort by using him as a main character. The PMK pages don't let you sort based on characters, and that's a bit of a bummer. I'll see how it goes.
Arggghhh! Two weeks of vacation is almost at an end and I have written virtually nothing! I hate writer's block. Why is it that I come up with all kinds of ideas when I don't have time to write them down and no ideas when I do have time? Talk to me, characters! Beats forehead on table...
Big apologies for lack of updates. Life is out of control right now. Work is super-busy, I am helping friends move (out-of-state, so it is very sad), and I recently lost my diabetic cat of 15 years and my heart just hurts. That little guy got me through a lot of tough times and he is sorely missed by me and his kitty-sister. I haven't given up on any of my stories (yes, that is plural), but I haven't been making progress, either. Thanks for all your continued support and readership. It means a lot.
Moved two of my stories out of the Peacemaker category and into RK. I feel less constrained on Okita's character in RK because he's really pretty undefined there and I have a hard time with making a character based on a real person a homosexual when there were no indications in his real life (that I have ever read, anyway) that he was interested in manly love. I understand that's part of the PMK universe, but I just can't agree with it. It feels like libeling someone who isn't around to defend himself. If he was an author OC, that would be different, but the guy may still have family out there. If any of them were to actually read these stories, I wouldn't want them offended by how I've written him. On another note, it was so much easier to re-list the 2 PMK stories than it was to move "Double-edged Sword" the first time 2 years ago! My how ff(dot)net has changed!
Progress on stories? Not so much. I think I have to ditch about half of the latest chapter of "Caged", which may make some of you insanely loyal readers (you must be insane to wait this long between chapters) ready to cry. Trust me, I am. I LIKE that part! But it's just not working anymore. I may have to do a series of out-takes after this is all over, like they do on DVDs. It would be easier than writing the story, and probably longer, too!
Take care, all
Would someone just shoot me so that I have a better excuse for lack of progress than writer's block? Never thought it would take over 3 years to finish a story. Arrrggghhh!
Wah! It's almost time for my "annual update" on Caged and I've made only a little progress! I feel so ashamed...
I've gotten many reviews for Chapter 20 of "Caged" and I'd just like to thank everyone very much. I'm not responding individually because I'd be so tempted to give things away. I don't want to spoil the suspense. I appreciate every one of you hanging in here with me and being so patient. There are more good things coming - had a lovely revelation the other day that I have to put into action. Sometimes the waiting really does help the story along. I will try not to make it another year (!) but you never know. No promises about timing, but I will do my best to make sure the quality of the story remains as high as you expect of me. Thanks again!
If anyone is interested, I've got a deviantart page. No stories posted (hah!) but if you're interested, I'm posting some of my favorite photos there (yes, all taken by moi). Search for "PenWandering" - that's me. Let me know what you think. I like feedback on photos as much as for writing and it's a lot easier on you! :)
I am attempting to scrape down and repaint the house and it is taking most of my time. My muse has fled - I think it's afraid of being roped into helping out! So not much story progress right now. :(
I've had a request from Halle to translate "The Photograph" into Russian, but there's no way to respond directly since Halle didn't leave an address. I don't mind as long as it's a true translation and you give me full credit. I'd like a copy - it makes me smile to see my stories in other languages and I have a friend here who speaks Russian (he's from Belarus) who might enjoy reading something in his home language. And in answer to the comment also contained in that review - this story does reference the movie "Okita Soji - The Last Swordsman" with Kondo's portrait and reference to O-Chisa. I was intrigued by there being no known photo of Souji and the situation portrayed in the movie seemed an opportunity...and a reason to keep him sitting still long enough...to get one. :D
I'm still out here, but work is taking a bite out of life. I hate that I am leaving "Caged" hanging with no progress, but I also feel that I short-changed some of the story by not developing some characters and situations further in the beginning. It leaves me struggling to make it work logically now. And I have so little time to work on it. Sigh. On the other hand, I just read the last couple issues of Kaze Hikaru (19 and 20) and what do they have? Souji in a photograph! LOL. I wonder what happens to that one?
