Author has written 19 stories for Harry Potter, Naruto, Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, Elder Scroll series, Hellsing, Bleach, Lord of the Rings, Fairy Tail, Soul Eater, To Love-Ru, Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Dragon Age, and Game of Thrones. Yo, how's it going. My name's Oso1991and I've been on this site for years (much to my own shame and pride). However during my time on this site, I've written more than a couple of stories of mostly crossovers of Naruto and Harry Potter with some of the more popular animes. I've noticed that the more I write and read, the better the quality of my stories become. So all people that wish to write stories, try them. Writing the first fanfiction is hard but it gets easier as it goes. However while I do encourage fanfictions, I MUST put this out. Even though you write this on your own time for your own enjoyment, people will read your story if you publish it on your story. QUALITY COUNTS! When I read a fanfiction, I immediately preview it on structure and grammar if it is worth my time reading it. Just because you are not paid to write does not excuse crappy writing and poor grammar! If you know that you suck at writing or have a hard time writing English, there are multiple beta readers on this site. Personally I welcome ideas and if you ask me to beta read stories, I'll be happy to and will respond as soon as possible. REVIEWS MATTER! Complimentary reviews are always welcome and make a writer's efforts worth the labor. Take criticism gracefully. While you can feel free to ignore the trolls and flames, constructive criticism are some of the most useful tools a writer can have. If you really want to give advice to a writer, PM the writer. Don't write a biting review on the story for all to see. It looks condescending and arrogant, especially if the reviewer cannot put their own advice in practice by writing a story. I welcome PMs so if you are really serious about a review, do it in private. I'll respond ASAP STORY LENGTH AND IDEAS ARE VITAL! Active imaginations are good but not ideas do not work well. For example when writing crossovers, action animes, genres, or ideas (Halo) do not mix well with completely different genres like Rio or Cars! The plots, idealism, and target audience are so far apart, it's not worth writing except if it is a parody. And even then, crossover parodies are usually slightly better off as spam. Also chapter story length counts as it reflects how much care and thought a writer puts in a story. Usually a good story has an average of 3000 words per chapter. Some of the more intricate and better stories can have chapters with 10000 words. So if I encounter a story with only 1000-1500 words per chapter, I skip it. So in summery, these are my views on fanfictions. So as you read the stories I've written, I sincerely hope you enjoy them and I thank everyone that take the time to read them and help me improve through helpful reviews. PEACE! Oso1991 |
