Author has written 18 stories for Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Shaman King, Digimon, Pokémon, Mass Effect, Green Lantern, and Prototype.
Welcome to my profile page. Many know me here as Talos the Saiyan. Also known as just plain Talos on Spacebattles, and Sufficient Velocity, which will both share my output in terms of fics. I'm a writer by trade, though not yet published. I write fanfics as a means of sharpening my skills, and perhaps as a way to interact further with a series that has caught my interest. I write pretty often, though not much of what I do will always end up here. So I don't really have much of an idea of what kinds of fics you'll see me working on. In the past, I've done Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Prototype, Star Wars, Warhammer 40K and many others. If it catches my attention, chances are I'll eventually write something for it.
I don't update often, I don't really write for the crowd. While I appreciate reviews as much as the next guy, my main purpose has always been to improve my own skills, and to have fun while doing it. To that extent, I'll drop a fic if I stop enjoying it even if it is by far my most popular story. Best I can say then is that I am sorry, but I just don't have the muse to go on with it, especially not when I am often juggling several projects. That said, there's really no reason I won't eventually go back to a fic as well, and some of my stories have gone years without updates before coming back to life. If whatever you like isn't being updated right now, that doesn't mean its dead. If you like, you can even drop me a line and ask if I have any intention of going back to it any time soon. I don't mind talking to people, and quite frankly, it can be pretty fun to talk to fellow writers and readers.
My current writing project nowadays is actually running games on google docs. I run RPGs as a way to keep my hand in, and I've gotten pretty good at it if I do say so myself. Not sure why I am really mentioning it here other than to brag of my insane skill with the written word (Yep, that's the way. If you keep implying that you're a literary god, everyone has to believe it!) But seriously though, I have a lot of fun thinking through the implications of a low of systems and power types, and I love nothing better than to world build something that we only get the smallest hint of in the parent series.
So, who wants some backstory on this account? No one? Too bad, it's my profile, and I want to keep this stuff somewhere. This account was originally 'sstalos'' when I first joined FFnet. It later became ''SSTalos'' and later morphed into just plain ''Talos'' (which is my handle more or less everywhere else.) Eventually, I finalized it into ''Talos the Saiyan'' as a reference to the first fandom I wrote for, (Dragon Ball Z) as well as my very first iteration of the name. (''sstalos'' meaning ''Super Saiyan Talos'')
You know, sometimes it's hard to imagine just how long I've been on this site. I've been here for a very long time, let me tell you. Sometimes, I feel like a grumpy old man, watching all the new bloods post their stories. Back in *my* day, we didn't have no fancy avatars for our stories, and we didn't have no fancy new formatting! We had to post our stories in the rain! Uphill! Both ways!
Seriously, though. It can be weird to think how far FFnet has come in the time since I joined. This account was first used back in 2007, it's been nine years since that day, and I've watched as nearly all the people I knew when I first started drift off. From my generation of writers, I am one of the few left here, and even then, I don't check back so often.
So let it be said to all of you younger writers out there who like to work together, and have friends who you regularly check up on, enjoy it while you can. Because if you last as long as I have, chances are, you'll not have nearly as many as you used to.
But enough doom and gloom. If you've read through this boring-ass profile, you'll probably be interested in my works of fiction below. I'll be honest and say that most of them are not up to my current standards. I keep them as museum pieces, to remind me how far I've come. ''A Very Nasty Surprise'' is the most up to date one, but even then, the first chapters are markedly worse than the latter ones. But hey, if you wanna check it out, go ahead. I ain't gonna stop you. Drop me a line if you wanna chat, or wanna ask some questions, or maybe just leave some reviews. I've been on FFnet for a good long time now. Chances are, I'm not going anywhere soon.
