On May 3, 1996, in he peaceful neghborhood of Stockton, California, 4-year-old Alice Michelle Spencer would experience her worst nightmares ever. That night, her mother tucked her into bed and plugged in her nightlight into the outlet near her bed. She then left for the airport with her husband leaving Alice Michelle alone. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer had expected a babysitter to arrive to watch over Alice Michelle while she was asleep.
A few hours later, she awoke to the sound of the living room stereo playing. She curiously got up from her bed and tip-toed to her living room to find everything turned off except for the 3-foot stereo operating mysteriously to radio music. Frightened, she ran to her sleeping babysitter in the guest room and woke hr up. The babysitter turned off the stereo and told her to stop playing with it and get back to bed. She obeyed and went back to bed.
The next night, her babysitter let her stay up with her after she refused to sleep. Alice Michelle stood in the computer room watching her babysitter chat on the computer, when suddenly a tall white translucent figure who had seemed to form from the window curtains next to the babysitter rushed toward Alice Michelle and violently knocked her to the ground in an instant. She cried in pain and terror, which made her babysitter jump and pick her up from the carpet. Alice Michelle told her a ghost had knocked her down, but being an unbeliever, the babysitter simply said, "There are no such thing as ghosts. Stop dreaming about these creatures and don't listen to anyone who speaks of these spooky ghosts. They are not real." She then tucked her in bed and said good-night. Alice Michelle never saw the figure again.
Because of her babysitter's prompt words, Alice Michelle never told them about what she experienced when they finally arrived home. A year later, the Spencer family moved and relocated to another city. Eight years from then, it was reported that the spirit of a woman existed in the same house and roamed around at night frightening an old couple that lived there. Alice Michelle then told her parents of her past childhood experiences, and they decided to visit the old couple and tell them what she saw. Investigators and psychics flocked about the neighborhood, saying it was the spirit of a woman named Courage Sampson who was hung there accused of being a Salem witch. They say her soul has not rested and she is seems alive in that spot. Until this day, the house is still haunted, and many can say that when they tour the house they can feel her sudden motions and witness many electric-powered objects operate by themselves.
