I’ve been reading stories on this site for a few years now, and I thought I would try my hand at writing for a change. I am a former US Marine Corps infantryman. I generally like crossovers, because I feel there is more of an opportunity for originality with them. Most of my stories will probably be crossovers. I draw a lot of my inspiration from the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. I will try to have my stories written several chapters in advance of where I am publishing, but I am not committing to any sort of regular release schedule. I would like to post new chapters once a week, but I have no reason to believe I'll be able to pull that off consistently. I also don't want to make promises about what will be in any one chapter. It frustrates me when I see authors promise that their next chapter will have this scene, or reach that point, and it doesn't. I write what seems to flow organically, and if I come to an appropriate break point, I stop the chapter, regardless of if I've covered what I thought I would. I don’t currently take requests for stories. I already have my next several projects decided. I appreciate if you enjoy my writing enough to make a request, but I have enough ideas of my own to be getting on with. If you have an idea for a story, I encourage you to write it yourself. Even if you don’t think you can write well, give it a try. You may find a talent you never knew you had. l also don’t write harems. I know that they are popular, and they can be fun to read, but they won’t happen in my stories. They smack too much of wish fulfillment to me, not to mention how sexist they usually are. They also force authors to waste time trying to justify their absurd relationship, and they remove the impact and the power that two characters falling in love should have. In general, I believe in making substantial changes to canon when writing a story. I do not like directly quoting from source material, as it of comes across as jarring and lazy. In crossovers especially, I believe the whole point is making changes. After all, if you have introduced a whole new character into a storyline, that story will inevitably change. As such, do not read my stories if you just want a rehash of familiar ground with a few new scenes. |
