I'll be charged with possession of the V for Vendetta graphic novel and film novelization, the Arkham Asylum graphic novel, a copy of 'Watchmen and Philosophy: A Rorschach Test' in paperback, two notebooks full of fan fiction notes, three blank moleskine notebooks, and dozens of pen with varying amounts of ink remaining, all on my person. Upon further investigation, they will find that I also possess the Watchmen graphic novel, numerous other notebooks filled with hand-written fan fiction, and scattered scraps of paper with ideas written in my handwriting. Upon this discovery, I will also be charged with intent to write more... And how will I plead? Guilty as charged." I sent this statement in a text message while driving home from Barnes and Nobel one night, my backpack filled to the brim with enough incriminating evidence to be falsely accused as a fan girl. I'm not, really. I just like twisting others' stories into tales of my own. I like taking what has already been established and fitting it into the mold of my imagination. I like to write thoughtful stories that are both provocative and serene, realistic and fantastic, deep but true to form. I try to get into the minds of the characters that I write, and some of them find a way to slip into my mind, demanding precedence in my thoughts, my dreams, and my conscious actions. In February of 2007, I decided to try my hand at writing about my favorite masked vigilante and thus began my V for Vendetta series, Volition. It is the largest bit of literature I've ever written. Some of my earlier work in this series is lacking, I will admit, but I like to think that it's getting better and better as time goes by. There aren't many readers or writers in this particular fandom anymore, but I'm not giving up. I have planned so much for V and Evey over the years and I intend to go through with it. Volition: vo·li·tion n. An act of making a choice or decision. A series of choices and decisions. The series is as follows, in chronological order: The Land of Do As You Please (In Progress) Of the Deepest Blue (Completed) Whispers in the Dark (Completed) This Vicious Cabaret (In Progress) The Show Must Go On (Coming Soon) In April of 2009, I began writing fan fiction for Watchmen. I'm currently in the process of feeling out Rorschach and am attempting to discover who he really is in 'Into the Heart of Darkness,' a rewrite of 'Love Thy Neighbor.' There's a lot to Rory that I think many overlook, so I'm taking my time to get a good handle on what he's about, how he feels, and why he does the things he does... And weave some fluff, angst, and a wee bit of romance in there for entertainment value. Also, I've finally given in and begun writing Parallax, formerly Blood From the Shoulder of Pallas, a Dan and Rorschach slash fic. Yay! Writing Watchmen fan fiction has reawakened my passion for writing, especially to continue with Volition, as I took a break from it for a year and a half. V and Rorschach are constantly in battle to win my attention, but I'm trying to work something out between them so that we can make this work. It's summer time once again and I have all the time in the world to write plenty for both of these and other characters. I'm foaming at the mouth with ideas and I look forward to the possibilities and potentialities that each day brings to the creative fountain of my imagination! Are you ready? Enjoy yourself as you venture through the landscapes I've painted, and if you have a comment, question, critique, suggestion, request, argument, or lollipop, please do share! I am also V4V on DeviantArt and would love to hear from you! The link to my profile is above under my homepage. All the world's a stage-- Everything else is Vaudeville! |
