Hey! I finally got tired of my old profile, so I decided to write a new one. :)
My name in real life is Megan, not Hoshi. People always seem to think I'm Japanese because of my penname, but I'm not, even though my dad was born in Tokyo, but that's an entirely different story.
My penname, Hoshi Nagaiki, is actually a name one of my best friends in the entire world gave me when I was 12. See, we used to make up these grand narratives with the characters from all our favorite animes (e.g. Yu Yu Hakusho, InuYasha, Fruits Basket, PreTear, etc) and we inserted ourselves into the stories with names we gave ourselves. Mine was Hoshi Nagaiki. Even though we stopped making those stories up a long time ago, I still use my old name from it as my internet persona.
Anyways, the real me is a reticent English major at my local university. I write a lot of stories, original and fanfiction, but I decided not to do the creative writing concentration out of a mixture of pragmatism and trepidation. Instead, I'm doing professional writing, which is awesome because revising and editing is my favorite step of the writing process!! :D
Speaking of which, if you need a beta-reader, I love playing editor--it's what I'm studying to be--so feel free to submit your stories to me! I usually complete chapters within a day or two, depending on how busy I am.
My History with Fanfiction:
Well, I got my first account on this website on my eleventh birthday, but I had been reading and writing since I was about nine. I can't even remember what my first penname was because that was about seven years ago, but I know that I never want to find that account again. My writing at that point was rubbish. I would get a lot of reviews for my stories, more than I do now, but as I've learned over the years, lots of reviews equates to next to nothing on this website.
My first fanfiction story was called Absurd, and it was about Hermione finding the first Harry Potter book in the restricted section of the library and reading it. Most of the story consisted of Hermione trying to tell Harry and Ron about it, but they kept saying that she was absurd. Somehow, the characters from The Lord of the Rings made an appearance in it, but I don't remember why or how anymore.
Anyways, nine years and one account later, I'm still on this website. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.
Like many of the people on this website, I go through stages of obsessions with certain things. For the sake of further procrastination of my work, I am going to detail some of the fandoms that made up my life.
Pre-9 years old: Around this age, I was obsessed with Pokemon, Scooby Doo, and Harry Potter. I wasn't innovative enough to actually write stories about them, but I did use to pretend that I was at Hogwarts and play Pokemon with my friends and things like that.
9-11 years old: This stage of my life was ruled by Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. I was possibly the weirdest nine year old at my school, just because I was the only one who had read all The Lord of the Rings books and could tell you the names of all the characters and their fathers and their swords and everything. This was also when I started reading and writing fanfiction, most of which were odd crossovers between Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings . . . .
11-15 years old: I was obsessed with anime. I wish I could leave it at that, but I can't because this was probably the period when I wrote the most and was most involved with the fan communities. (The internet had just reached a huge popularity boom since dial-up was becoming extinct and you could talk on the phone AND be on the computer at the same time!!) The animes I was most obsessed with were InuYasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Fruits Basket (more of the manga actually), Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, Code Geass, and Ouran High School Host Club, and those were just the ones I was most obsessed with. . . . At this time, I was still a big Harry Potter fan, but it was kind of on the wane. I also, really liked The X-Files and Boy Meets World.
16-Now: THE BEATLES!! I discovered The Beatles music when I was 16 and I have not turned back. I even made a whole section dedicated to them below, so yeah! I love them. My Harry Potter obsession is still on the wane, but I still love it a lot since it's been with me my entire life. Recently, I've been getting into The Hunger Games and The Monkees and have been writing a lot of fanfiction about both, so I guess you can expect that from me.
The Beatles and I:
Favorite Beatle: Paul, but George is obviously the cutest and John's 1965-6 hair makes me swoon and Ringo's probably the nicest :D Oh, and Paul is my favorite because I have the most fun writing about him. Like John, I am very interested in his motives(:
Favorite Beatles Album: Revolver is the greatest one! I listen to it like everyday. Personally, I think it's better than Sgt. Pepper -GASP-
Favorite Song from:
Please Please Me: "A Taste of Honey" and "There's a Place"
With the Beatles: "All I've Got to Do" and "Devil in Her Heart"
A Hard Day's Night: "Anytime at All" to "Things We Said Today"
Beatles for Sale: "Rock and Roll Music" and "I'll Follow the Sun"
Help!: "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and "I've Just Seen a Face"
Rubber Soul: "Think for Yourself"
Revolver: "Here, There, and Everywhere" and "For No One"
Sgt Pepper: "Getting Better", "She's Leaving Home", and "When I'm 64"
Magical Mystery Tour: "The Fool on the Hill"
The Beatles (White Album): Disc One Side B plus "Long, Long, Long" and "Helter Skelter"
Abbey Road: "Here Comes the Sun" and "Sun King" plus George's guitar part between "Polythene Pam" and "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window"
Let It Be: "Two of Us"
Singles/Past Masters: "I Call Your Name", "She's a Woman", and "Day Tripper"
Anthology: "Ain't She Sweet?" (from Anthology One) and "Not Guilty"
Live at the BBC: "Young Blood", "I Just Don't Understand", and "A Shot of Rhythm and Blues"
Hoshi's Rules of Fanfiction:
1. I will not read any story if there is bad grammar in the summary.
2. I do not add stories to my favorites list unless they are complete or I don't think they will ever be completed.
3. I only use the alert system for stories in massive sections like the Harry Potter one or sections I hardly ever check.
4. I will not add anyone to my favorite authors' list unless they have written two or three stories that are on my favorites' list or I'm friends with them in real life.
5. I will not read stories in which direct quotes are pulled from books, movies, songs, etc. without being credited. (Seriously, there's one story on here that I was really fond of but then it started pulling block quotes from Cynthia Lennon's book, John, which I was reading at the time, and I suspect other things as well, without giving credit to the original authors, and I just couldn't read it anymore because that's such a disrespect.)
6. I do not review stories if I have nothing nice to say, and I will not give silly reviews that simply say 'Update soon' or 'I love this!' because they're not beneficial at all.

One Final Note:
Thank you to everyone who has ever read or reviewed my stories! I sincerely appreciate it. Every day I see fanfiction email in my inbox is a good day. Thank you for that and more!:D
