Hello everyone! My name's Kaja, though it's pronounced Kah-Yah...think karate move (I know everyone who saw me perform at Dragon*Con in 2010 does.). I was born and raised in Kristiansand, Norway, though I moved to the US in the summer of 2005.
I am a big lover of Music--especially musical theatre. In fact, music is my life. It's always been my coping mechanism, and I'm not sure I'd be here today without it. Nothing beats venting through sing at the top of your lungs (like singing Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar after a guy pisses you off. Trust me, I speak from experience.) or listening to really loud music.
What else do I love? Well, I love reading, though I haven't gotten to read as many books as I'd like. I find myself reading a lot of stuff here on ff.net, along with fictionpress. But I have read some good books. I'm a big Harry Potter fan. I remember being in first grade back in Norway and reading the English version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (and yes, to me it is the Philosopher's Stone. That's the way I read it, so that's what I call it) and the other Norwegian kids couldn't understand my fascination with it--not to mention the fact that I could read an English book fine, but I was still struggling with reading in Norwegian (even though I'd lived there all my life). Since then, my love for Harry Potter has only grown, and I have to say, Darren Criss is my favorite Harry Potter :3
Also, The Southern Vampire Mysteries/Sookie Stackhouse Series. I was introduced to these books at the beginning of my freshman year of high school, but I didn't actually read them until later. Three summers ago, my mom started watching the HBO series True Blood. Soon after, my mom began buying the books, instantly falling in love with them. Even though I had grown up in Europe (where they have almost no censoring, whatsoever) my mom thought I was too young to read/watch it at the time. Finally, the summer between my Sophomore and Junior year, my mom let me take the first novel with me to Upward Bound. I was instantly drawn into the story. Also that summer, my mom let me watch an episode of the show, because of the smokin' hot Swedish vampire named Eric Northman. And one of the first lines he said in that episode, remains one of my favorite quotes today: "Is there blood in my hair?"
Other writers I like? I LOVE William Shakespeare. I always have. He's probably my favorite writer. I mean, not only was he just a phenomenal writer, he created five hundred words or so that we still use today. That man was a genius, and no one can argue with that.
What else...Oh, I am currently switching back and forth between reading several books/series: Howl's Moving Castle, The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Morganville Vampires series, The Wake/Fade/Gone trilogy (only haven't read Gone), and I'm working on finishing the Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm currently in Definitely, Dead.
But enough about literature (as if I. I could go on and on, but it'd probably bore you to death!)
Music! Oh, don't get me started on music. I listen to anything from Paramore and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, to Adele and Sara Bareilles, to Mozart and Handel, to The Glee Cast and Epik High. I have a very eclectic taste in music, and the only genres I can't stand are: most rap (with a few exceptions. i.e. B.o.B, Epik High, MC Chris, etc.), most things autotuned (except anything by Shmoyoho :D DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY), a lot of the R&B, and Heavy Metal.
Also, as I mentioned earlier, I LOVE musical theatre. Broadway is my passion, and I want to perform there someday. Even if I do perform there someday, I want to study music education so that I can pass on everything I've learned. What's the use in knowing something if you can't teach it to others?
My favorite musicals include: Wicked, Legally Blonde the Musical, RENT, Hello, Dolly!, CATS, The Phantom of the Opera, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Spring Awakening, The Producers, Avenue Q, Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Into The Woods, and many, many more.
But my current favorite, is a well known youtube sensation.
A Very Potter Musical/A Very Potter Sequel/A Very Potter Senior Year.
Understand now why Darren Criss is my favorite Harry Potter? Also, if any of you guys reading are AVPM/AVPS fans, and are going to Dragon*Con, you might spot me dressed as Malfoy rolling around on the ground going "DID SOMEONE SAY DRACO MALFOY?" *pose*
Well, now I'm ranting.
I'm a huge science fiction fan. I remember my mom introducing me to it when I was really young by showing me Star Trek IV. I've been hooked. My favorite show, though, is Doctor Who. I've been watching it for nearly ten years now--ever since my mom showed me the American attempt at making a Doctor Who movie when I was around 8 or 9 years old.
I've recently fallen in love with Supernatural and BBC Sherlock. I actually got to meet Misha Collins, Christopher Heyerdahl, and Mark Sheppard at Dragon*Con.
So, I'm gonna stop writing big paragraphs now. Here are some pairings I support:
Quirrel/Voldy (thanks a lot, AVPM)
so, some random stuff
MY GUY SIDE:
You love hoodies.
MY GIRL SIDE:
You wear lip gloss/chapstick.
Wow, look at that. Apparently, I'm both.
Also, if you want to contact me--for betaing, of if you want me to write something, or any reason at all--you can send me a message here on ff.net, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
