Author has written 6 stories for Avatar: Last Airbender, Coraline, and Star Fox.
I am Aryck1095. Welcome to my profile.
I come to FanFiction mosly to read, and rarely post any stories unless I'm certain they're perfect. Even after I post at least one chapter, I usually encounter a horrible writer's block that prevents me me from going any farther. So, for the most part, I'm just here to enjoy FanFiction, offer critique and give positive feedback to encourage the brilliant writers here.
I read mostly fan fiction for Avatar:The Last Airbender and am a large supporter of KatAang pairing. I used to like ZuTara, but the batshit craziness of the shippers of that fandom was way too much for me to handle. I haven't seen the movie, and I don't want to. The TV show and the fan-fiction and art are all I need, screw M. Night's crappy live-action re-write.
I'm an avid video gamer, and I tend to prefer titles the likes of Halo, Dragon Age:Origins, Mass Effect, Crimson Skies:High Road to Revenge, Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic, The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim (which I prefer greatly over Oblivion) as well as various Mario games (primarily the Paper Mario series) Fallout 3 and Fallout:New Vegas... I'm mostly a single-player guy, and I mostly stick to Halo multiplayer-wise. I won't touch Call of Duty for it's rather drab look and lack of personality. Right now I am greatly anticipating the impending release of Halo 4, that which looks like it may very well live up to the original series after all.
As far as books go, I mostly stick with the Harry Potter series and various Star Wars novels. Haven't picked up many books since I found this website... this place is simply overflowing with so much talent, it's a wonder it all goes unnoticed by most of the world, or so it seems.
Not very big with movies, but I do have a few favorites, and an appreciation for quality writing. I enjoy the original Star Wars trilogy, the Harry Potter movies (most of them) the Man With No Name trilogy, the Dirty Harry films, Death Wish, Aliens, Predator, Jurassic Park, Coraline (note to self:get the book) The Matrix, The Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption.
I dedicate most of my spare time to the realms of fiction. My world is that of art and writing. Mostly I simply appreciate the incredible work of others, though I'd like to get more into writing, myself. I have a ton of story ideas just sitting around in the back of my head. Confidence issues and writers block have kept me from getting them down on paper (or I suppose, on the moniter) but I've begun to move forward a bit, slowly but surely. I've always enjoyed reading since I decided to pick out a book for myself rather than the crap my teachers in school picked out for me (hated summer reading assignments for their garbage lists of "approved" books. Morons...). Reading has been fun... but now I'd like to write as well. Wish me luck. I'll need it...
Currently a work-in-progress.
Not Good Enough(Avatar:Legend of Korra)
A short oneshot written in the early days of Book 1:Air, where Mako contemplates his feelings for Korra and recieves advice from a certain someone who knows a thing or two about flling for the Avatar.
Flying Lessons(Avatar:TLA/Crimson Skies parody)
Failed attempt at creating a parody of the Avatar storyline featuring themes from both Avatar:The Last Airbender and Crimson Skies. Abandoned years ago. No plans to continue; I have no idea why this is still here. Seriously, if I ever update this story, it will be a miracle. Will likely delete eventually.
My thoughts on Avatar shipping:
KatAang (Katara x Aang) is my OTP, as I said. Just the thought of these two makes my heart melt.
Anybody can see clearly that the two are meant for each other; it's not like most romances I've seen. Katara and Aang have a real foundation to their relationship, the unbreakable bond of friendship, trust, and love that is apparent throughout the entire series from the moment Aang is freed from the iceberg. Most other romances just seem like nothing more than a whole bunch of random flirting followed by a kiss and/or love scene, to me at least. Then of course there's the really touching, heart-breaking moments in the series, such as Katara pulling Aang out of the Avatar State in "The Desert", Aang's visions of Katara in "The Guru", and that tragic moment when Katara thought Aang was gone for good at the end of "Crossroads of Destiny".
As for ZuTara... keeping in mind what I said about said about the foundation of Katara and Aang's relationship, Zuko and Katara didn't even establish a friendship until the very end of the series (within the last 6 episodes, to be exact) and never showed any romantic interest in each other. Simple as that. ZuTara was never meant to be Canon, nor should it be. I used to like the fan-fiction this ship brought to the table, but between my growing interest in KatAang, the fact that ZuTara made less and less sense as the series went on, and the ZuTarian's excessively bitter reaction to the Book 2 finale, I got tired of it.
Besides... *ahem* KatAang forever :)
So... new series, new ships. the only apparent ones so far are KatAang, Tenzin x Pema, and MaKorra. Oh, and Korra x Bolin, I suppose... there was the faintest hint of it in the second episode, though not much.
Not sure about MaKorra just yet. It hasn't really grabbed my interest, though we're only two episodes into the series. So far, it's not quite the same as KatAang, though it is clear that they like each other; still, unless it can really grab my attention with some of those touching moments, that powerful bond of friendship and love that made KatAang so epic, I'm not getting into it too much. I'm more interested in seeing Korra's story, and maybe some flashbacks of Katara and Aang's married life somewhere down the road. I also want to see moreof Aang and Tenzin's relationship as father and son, and the lives of Tenzin and his siblings growing up.
I'm hoping Katara can be... reunited with Aang at some point in the series; it's just so depressing, when she says "Aang's time has passed... my brother and many of my friends are gone..." Not only is Aang gone, but so are most of the characters we came to love in the original series...
Don't get me wrong, I love the new series so far, and I love some of the new characters, namely Korra, and Tenzin and his family. But the new Team Avatar, Mako and Bolin... they just can't hold up to the original GAang. Maybe I'll like them more as the series goes on, but it will never be quite the same as the original series. Still... it's good to have Avatar back.
