I think it's about time I updated this ancient profile page.
With another semester of college nearly out of the way, I'm looking forward to a relatively peaceful summer that will finally allow me to sit down and start writing again. With any luck I'll be able to finish writing Super Mario 12 and perhaps even get started on Super Mario 13. I am really, really, REALLY looking forward to #13. So much is going to come together in the concluding story of the series -- Cyanara's backstory, the fate of the Trinity, the role of the mysterious girl in gray, and an entirely new land to defend from the evil clutches of...no, I'm not telling you who the villain is. Seriously, you didn't think the Empress was gonna survive forever, did you?
In my spare time I've also been working at putting music to much of the series. I'm treating each story as if it were a visual novel being advanced by the reader, giving themes to major characters, events, and places of interest, not unlike a video game OST. I can't lay claim to any of the music I'm using; I'm no composer, and I've merely been borrowing original tracks from such distinguished sources as the Conceptual Music Competition (). I'm trying to refrain from using pre-existing video game scores. I want the Super Mario Series OSTs to have a truly original feel -- nobody should be able to listen to the tracks and go "HEY! I know what game that's from!" Memories of that game will instantly erase the effectiveness of the music as far as associating it with another story goes.
So, if you're curious about my musical impressions of my own stories, have a listen or two:
Many thanks to the numerous composers participating in the Conceptual Music Competition. They keep providing a wonderful selection of original music that keeps on inspiring me.
