I chose my name because of the fierce loyalty of Fawkes the phoenix and his beautiful lament. I want to take you to the highest depths and the lowest lows. I want to journey with you, stay by your side and never leave you. Maybe, if I'm fortunate--something I say may heal you the way that writing heals me. I had a horrible sickness in September 2009, which almost took my life. I have severe anxiety and depression stemming from that (PTSD --Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). When I read the Hunger Games in July/August of 2011 I burst into tears. I came to the realization that...I felt like a tribute in the Hunger Games. I felt all the anxiety and fear they felt, and I questioned if it was worth it. And each day, I had to live with what happened. And it was just too hard. So finally after bursting into tears after finishing the Mockingjay, I got the help I needed. Therapy is nothing to be afraid of. Because it's the best thing I could have ever done. I'm in a much better place now, I really am. And I have learned through therapy, and through reading The Hunger Games that if you work with it--that "Things can be good again." Some days it's really hard to be okay, but it's true. "It's like a game. Repetitive. Even a little tedious. But there are much worse games to play." Awards Honorable mention in 's Halloween contest! Why do you think it should win? Phoenix Refrain is an absolutely amazing author. I particularly lover her one-shots. While all of them are excellent, this one has to be my favorite. She takes a small part of the first book that everyone seemed to forget about and turned it into a masterpiece. As Gale was being dragged out of the room he was saying goodbye to Katniss in, he says, "I won't! You know I won't! Katniss, remember I-" and then his voice is cut off. No one really thinks about it, but what was it Gale was trying to say? Phoenix Refrain answers this question in this one-shot. What if Gale was about to say "I love you"? If he only had those two more seconds to get the words out, would it have changed the entire series? 'Remember' focuses on Gale and how he is dreading not getting the final words out. He expresses the pain he feels as he watches Kantiss love Peeta on TV. Truly an amazing one-shot. By PearyPants44
Title: Nine Words Author: Phoenix Refrain Rating: k Summary: Haymitch gives Peeta and Katniss something entrusted into his safekeeping on their wedding day. Why do you think it should win? The author is amazing. Normally, I don't like one-shots, but this is one of the exceptions. It's beautiful, inspiring, and really makes you want to cry. I had goosebumps and was crying by the end of it. It's one of the "Must-Read" one-shots out there for anyone, even if your don't like Katniss or Peeta. This one-shot focuses on something the was given to Haymitch before the rebellion, before Katniss knew her true feelings towards Peeta. Haymitch has forever held something secret, something that will break Katniss, something that will make even the strongest feel saddened(If you have a heart or a soul). -Nicky Dear Quotes: "It seems strange that my life should end in such a terrible place, but for three years I had roses and apologized to no one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must NEVER let them take it from us. I hope that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the worlds turns, and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. Valerie. " Take this to heart, I mean it. I love you guys!
