Hello! I go by the pseudonym 'CrimpyTomato591,' and I'm just a guy that loves to read.
I highly doubt anybody cares about my biography, but I'll write a few lines anyways about myself on the off chance someone does.
To put it simply, I was raised on stories.
Growing up, my go-to use of free time was to consume stories in one form of the other. I eventually got a bit more critical on the content I went through, and started browsing fan-written works in the hopes of finding fulfillment of unexplored potential for series I wasn't entirely satisfied with.
It's a fun little pastime, seeing how similarly passionate fans build on the worlds and characters I've grown so attached to. I find this site especially appealing for fandoms I grew up with, like Pokémon and Adventure Time, because both have a great deal of storytelling potential that isn't ever tapped, given the need to keep them targeted towards a younger audience. I love seeing takes on those worlds with real, serious consequences and problems.
I'd say my favorite part of fan-written stories is seeing how an author writes their characters. It's fascinating to see them write a familiar person in an unfamiliar light and follow their explanation of how they got from Point A to Point B. That's what makes a story good, I think - when the author can breathe their own life into the worlds and create something that only they could create from the foundational pieces.
What this means is that I'm on board for virtually any story, so long as the author stays true to the characters and makes me believe that what happens makes sense in the context of the source material. If you want to make drastic changes to the canonical story, all you have to do is convince me of its legitimacy!
While I have not published anything to this site, I would definitely like to someday. I've always believed that, because so many things have already been done before, originality boils down to stitching together personal experiences into something new. My hope is to gain inspiration from the things I read both on this site and elsewhere, to the point where I can formulate a story worthy of being posted, despite my harsh self-criticisms.
We'll see if that ever happens.
Not sure what else is worth saying, so I'll close with this:
If you enjoy any of the same fandoms I do, I would highly suggest taking a look at my 'Favorite Stories' page! I have read a LOT of stories on this site, so while our tastes may not be the same, I can vouch for the quality of what I have saved, at least in terms of characterization and ideas.
