Hey, valued readers! Thanks for visiting my profile page, and I hope I can provide you with hours of entertainment…hopefully mostly through my stories. =) I do like talking quite a bit about fanfiction, though, so if you ever just want to chat about your or my stories, just message me! (It’s nice to talk with real people instead of the voices)
It doesn't really matter, but I am a male American of 22.
I write for myself, first and foremost, but I also really, really enjoy reader reviews. (Who doesn’t?) Even negative ones, as long as they’re not flames. The psychological benefits of receiving feedback, called extrinsic reinforcement, for you technical psychology types, have a strong effect on me, and can really give me more energy to produce fanfiction.
My Writing Style
I’m the type of writer who listens first, and types later, especially for dialogue. I like to sound out the entire conversation in my head before putting it in writing, just to make sure that the characters really WOULD say that and that it is phrased in a way that sounds natural or likely.
I also take lots and LOTS of notes, recording my ideas. Since I have a short term memory for details, I have found that it’s necessary to take as precise notes as possible in my notebooks while an idea is still fresh in my mind or else it will be lost to the void forever.
Abrupt mood shifts are a recurring trait of my writing. I like them because they add dynamics and layers to the work. Some may not, but that’s okay.
Plot arcs are, without fail, planned out beforehand, which is incidentally one of my favorite things to do.
I like to write long chapters at times, but I also try to trim excess and only retain what I consider the quality writing in the chapter.
My sentences can be long-winded at times, I tend to get a little clause-happy, and I employ more verb modifiers than are necessary. But I find it keeps the paragraphs from getting dull. I like to change up the rhythms! XD
Also, I am always, ALWAYS open to feedback and suggestions about my writing or the plot of the story. Although, every time, I have a plot written out for the story before writing, I am interested in what you, my audience, has to say, expects, or wants to see happen. I try to be pretty flexible, as long as the advice doesn’t completely contradict my prior intentions for the story.
I always try to stage an intimate distance between the reader and characters, in order for some amount of empathy to evolve in that virtual relationship. I do this because that's the kind of writing I like the best. :)
Lastly, many of my fics are overly bitter. This is mostly due to my outlook on life (sad, but true). My personality, on the other hand, is quite outgoing, jokey, and talkative, so those two sides clash in many ways in my writing.
Despite the tendency towards bitterness, not all of my fics have sad or dark endings. Many do, however.
My Favorite Fanfictions
I already have a list of favorite fanfictions, yes…but this is where I would like to pay homage to the ones that I think are truly impeccable products of exquisite craftsmanship.
My Favorite Pairings
Being an anime fan, I have entered into the near-unavoidable behavioral pattern known as Shipping. I’m not adamant about any of my ships to the point of virulent hate against their opposition like some shippers are (I’m looking at you, RoxasAxel fans!!!). These are more of just my preferred pairings, whom I enjoy rooting for (and reading about). As a side note, some of them are very nontraditional…but I tend to enjoy more unconventional pairings, since I think they can bring a new spice to romance in that series, and will allow us to see characters in a different light. It also just seems more original. ^_^ Of course, I have some very traditional ones in here, too.
So, without further ado: my fave pairings!!!
Tsukune and Mizore (Rosario + Vampire)
Kenji Harima and Eri Sawachika (School Rumble)
Nagisa and Tamao (Strawberry Panic)
Oz Bezarius and Sharon Rainsworth (Pandora Hearts)
Tails and Tikal (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Sonic and Shadow (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Sora and Yuffie (Kingdom Hearts)
Rin and Kaede (Shuffle!)
Nana and Kouta (Elfen Lied)
Kurt and Kitty (X-Men Evolution)
Rika and Keiichi (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
Rena and Keiichi (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
Kurono and Kishimoto (Gantz)
I know there’s more, but I’ll add them once I remember them.
