Author has written 5 stories for Maximum Ride, Young Wizards, Labyrinth, and Harry Potter.
Hi, I'm Ash, formerly nightingale07. I'm surprised if you're actually reading my profile, since I haven't been really active on this site quite a while. I've been reading a LOT, with the occasional review, and after discovering my absolute love for Harry Potter fanfiction I've finally started writing one!
It's tentatively titled Learning to Fly, probably Drama/Action/Adventure, rated T and likely won't be posted until I have at least half of it finished, so it'll be a while. I am looking for a beta for it though, so if you know anybody good (or are good yourself!) please PM me!
~Edit: Chapter One of Learning to Fly has been posted! I got fed up with waiting, and I have enough of it outlined that I'm comfortable getting started at last. Thanks so much to Kali Rose and Hero Memory for preliminary beta work!

I'm 17, American, and (according to almost everyone I know) completely crazy. I love to read, write, and draw, and I make my own jewelry. I love to sing, even though I haven't been in choir for years, and I play the piano. I am positively addicted to Post-it notes and cafe mocha, and I adore cats and horses in equal measures.
I have a goldfish named Fitzwilliam Darcy and a pet sister (she's thirteen), a ton of bffs who rock this world and are just as crazy and hilarious as I am, and a reputation for being a geek that's frequently reinforced by the fact that I'm almost constantly on ...
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...

Fics in the works:
Learning to Fly: Chapter One up!
Child of the Storm: Another Harry in America fic; he survived the curse because it channels the lightning - and so can he. Somewhat creature fic, mostly just a conglomeration of ideas that places half of Harry's mother's (estranged) side of the family in America, and him being a descendant of thunderbirds. "You have a gift; you are a child of the storm. And you can ignore that gift and let the storm buffet you, or you can embrace it and learn to ride the winds." Concept, developing slowly.
Lily White: just a concept at the moment; either a young Lily and Petunia ficlet focusing on Pet's jealousy of her sister, or fairy-tale-esque parallel telling their story, only more dramatized and medieval.
Cursing Shakespeare: DraMione fic paralleling Romeo and Juliet - "My only love, sprung from my only hate" kind of thing. An exercise in writing romance and a different and often controversial pairing. Little more than a name at this point.
Begin Again: Two rulers, endlessly in combat, one deposed only to take the other's place and return once again to take the throne. They've chased each other in circles through the eons, never dropping back or gaining ground. Their first transgression must have been severe to warrant such a curse as punishment for already-doomed lovers... but no one remembers what it was. The only way to break it is to rule together for thirteen years in peace... and that seems about as likely as finding the person who cast it in the first place. Role Reversal(s), includes canon.
The Mortal Instruments:
Bane: '"You are the BANE of my existence!" she used to shriek at him in anger. 800 years later, the name is the only thing he's kept to remind him of his former life. Are eight centuries of experience good for anything more than making more bad memories? There are times he believes it is.'
Unexpected Quarter: "Who exactly was the man in the bar who helped Dairine in High Wizardry? What led him to be there at just the right moment to orchestrate her escape in the Crossings? What part do any of us really have to play in the grand scheme of things... and who are the lucky ones who get things explained to them afterward?"
Invocation: "When the Stranger came, I realized that this was the time of which I had been told. I knew long before it began what part I would have to play, what sacrifices I would be required to make. I knew what pain I would have to bring... and I did it anyway." How much courage would it take to go calmly to your death? Or to not let your guilt taint your feelings toward one who you would have to let die? When Ed told Nita he had never been loved... he lied. The original Song of the Twelve.
Witness: "Thrice heard, thrice witnessed, thrice bound." She smiled wickedly. "Begone, foul creature. You have no power here."
If you've ever felt like banging your head against the wall saying "angst... angst... angst... angst..." like in Wizard Angst from PotterPuppetPals, post this in your profile.
