"There was a girl, and her uncle sold her. Put like that it seems so simple.
Fiction allows us to slide into these other heads, these other places, and look out through other eyes. And then in the tale we stop before we die, or we die vicariously and unharmed, and in the world beyond the tale we turn the page or close the book, and we resume our lives.
A life that is, like any other, unlike any other.
And the simple truth is this: There was a girl, and her uncle sold her."
American Gods, Neil Gaiman
One month ago, a woman named Stasla Belikova died in the Ural Mountains. Belikova was a ghost according to Court. A young dhampir breaks into the queen’s bedchambers on a mission: someone inside Court killed her mother and she wants to find out who, starting with the decades-old murder of a guardian named Rose Hathaway.

When Rose is discovered by a record label and begins touring with one of country music’s greats, she’s drawn to the elusive bodyguard for Johnny Cash himself and the danger that comes with it.

Rose Hathaway, the dark horse of the figure skating world and Lissa's best friend, vows to knock Lissa's competitor out of the running, but to do that she needs a coach unlike any other. She seeks out Dimitri Belikov, a coach with a stellar reputation that has gone into retirement after losing his last skater, but a partnership of these proportions could backfire just as easily as it could send her soaring towards the gold.
St Vlad’s is the top team in the nation, everyone knows that, but after scores of talented seniors graduated, their squad is left decimated and when their coach is fired in a major scandal after the death of a student, it gets even worse. Rose Hathaway is the starring back base and co-captain of the St Vladimir’s cheerleading squad along with her best friend and trusted flyer, Lissa. They were expecting to have to go it alone in the fight against their fierce competitors from Court, an exclusive private school, but the administration of St Vlad’s has other ideas. Other ideas in the form of Dimitri Belikov, acclaimed cheerleading coach and a pain in Rose’s ass.
When the Lights Go Down
