Poll: I'm at some sort of crossroads and wondering where I should go now: Which type of tone should Blossoming of a Leaf take on from now on? Note: That doesn't mean I'm gonna go with the majority or anything. I just want an idea of what genre you think my sto Vote Now!
Author has written 12 stories for Naruto, Warehouse 13, Castle, and Fire Emblem.
I'm back, beotches!! 'Bout time I give this profile a bit of an overhaul (I think it's done? There's a lot of stuff in here O.o)
Name's Melyssa (Mel for short). I'm from Québec Canada. Female, just in case you'd be wondering. (First language is french, hehe). I'm now 28 and some and still hoping I could go back to being 19 (but not, because I was such an angsty boat, lol). Yeah yeah, I'm shutting up about it, I know I'm not that old.
I'm married to a wonderful wife, but we're doing this long distance thing and it sucks, so I'm hoping getting my writing muscles back to working conditon will help make the time until we can be together go by faster.
I'm a little lazy. Silly, dorky, cute, I love making the lamest puns just to get them weird looks from people. I'm a big teddy bear. My nickname is Krash (your clumsiness truly), I'm almost 5'7" and quite the tomboy (and proud of it).
I also recently jumped onto the fitness bandwagon and train somewhat like they do for crossfit. It's become a pretty big part of my life, and I think has a bit to do with how little I have been writing lately. So here's to trying to balance it out a bit better, right?
Work, school and stuff: I graduated from college with a degree in "computer science", sorta. Programming and analyzing. I'm a coder, yea? All these logical puzzles, I crush 'em. So yeah, I'm one of those geeks that can make computers do all sorts of things. My speciality is website programming though.
Music: I have relatively simple, albeit a bit narrow-minded tastes in music. Big fan of electric guitar and haunting riffs. I lean towards punk-rock/hard-rock-> melodic metal for the most part. not huge on growling or songs that are strictly screaming/screeching. I like video game music. Can't stand most pop/rap/dance/dubstep (UUUGH whose idea was it to make music meant to make me nauseous? Seriously, anything with loud bass, I physically can't listen to for very long. And it also makes me want to hit things. Bad combination). Not big on country either.
Favorite bands: I-Exist, Digital Summer, Social Code, Cavo, Thousand Foot Krutch, Sum 41, Rise Against, Fair To Midland, Demon Hunter, Eve to Adam, Shinedown, Trapt, Evans Blue, err... Honestly? I have a last.fm account ( Although these days I listen to my entire (that needs cleaning up) music library on random a lot, lol. (And if we're going down nostalgia/special-occasion line, old school Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, NSync (ROFL! *shame*)
My fave songs of all time (there's a bit of a pattern... lol):
Books: Mostly like dystopian YA stuff. Hunger Games, that type of stuff. Loved the Bourne Trilogy. Enjoyed bits and pieces of the Ender's Game world (more Bean's story than Ender's tho to be honest, and I haven't read all of it yet. The religious views had me cringing a few times, too.). Used to enjoy Fantasy, not sure what happened to that (y'know, Forgotten Realms, LotR). Mostly am a comic book/manga reader.
Mangas: (Yes I need a section for that alone) Devil and Devil is by far my favorite manga. the story's funny and enthralling and I love the character development - the whole demon/angel/human thing. Slam Dunk comes second best with GTO close enough (O-Ni-Zu-Ka! Wee! lol), then Berserk, Trigun (once you figure out the art style. It's a bit of a mind-blowing fest in the beginning), FMA, REAL, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Rurouni Kenshin, MAR, Buso Renkin. Scott Pilgrim was pretty awesome too! Then there's the beginning of Naruto, it was great, before the manga started being all about Sasgay? I'm in the process of trying to reread the whole thing from the beginning of Shippuuden now that it's over, we'll see if I can get through it. I enjoyed Dragon Ball! (I'd go and watch the animes for most of those books at times, but I get tired of fillers quick, and the books just have that special charm). Honorable mentions to Tsubasa, Bleach (which I also never finished), Yu-Gi-Oh which was my first manga and how I got into it in the first place... I think that's it? lol
Movies: The Bourne Trilogy is an old favorite. Scott Pilgrim was fun. Huge Marvel movie fan these days (even if the plots are hit and miss, usually the action makes up for it! lol. So Avengers, Captain America, Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy was a BLAST!). Homeward Bound will always be my childhood favorite. I'll always enjoy a bit of SciFi. Super Mario Bros (not a good movie, but its got a sentimental value!). Donny Darko remains a classic, and hey, I really liked the first Boondock Saints for some reason. I'm not that big a movie fan though, so, y'know)
TV Shows: Okay, so many things to mention here. First of, I'll be a Whedon fangirl til the very end. Sorry! So Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse, Agents of Shield are all up there. Then there's Xena Warrior Princess. I actually enjoyed Tru Calling. Warehouse 13 was great until the last season (seriously, Pete and Myka did NOT belong together. WHY!?). Loved How I Met Your Mother and White Collar. One Tree Hill saved my life. Currently The Flash is up there in my favorites, with Supernatural in there. Arrow's first season was good, second okay, 3rd IDEK what I was watching. I'm enjoying iZombie and Orphan Black a lot. Daredevil and Orange is the new Black are the best thing on Netflix. I watch a few shows that I wish would just end by now for the sake of quitting while they still have *some* dignity left (*cough*Bones, Castle, OUAT*cough*). Oh and I do enjoy Dominion and Defiance. :)
Video Games: Used to love Final Fantasy (up until eh, 10? But my favorite will always be 6, then 7 close by), Crono Trigger, played a lot of Legend of Zelda and every Fire Emblem I could put my paws on. Will always be a sucker for Mario Kart/party/smash type of games even though I'm not that great at them. Ogre Battle is another favorite of mine (I must've played through PoLC 5 times over. My shortest run was like 75 hours! D) I like RPGs and tactical RPGs, basically.
If you wanna know more, I'm Krokador on pretty much every social media website out there, so shoot me a message, let me know where you found me and we can chat it up! :)
