Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter.
I consider profiles to be quite pointless. Especially those of writers. Writers are meant to write, writers are meant to weave lies into words and make them seem real, writers are meant to amplify and glorify and exaggerate until they make a prince out of a troll. And that's what a profile is...more words, just connected into coherent sentences. Not necessarily the truth, not necessarily what you make them out to be. I don't suppose you can get to really know a person, until you really get to know them. And even then, part of them, their mind, is locked away from you.
That being said, I won't tell you much about myself (for further clarification, re-read above paragraph). But what I will tell you, is that I'm an avid Draco/Hermione shipper and simply love reading stories from that ship. Some stories I read left me with an unsatisfied feeling, and I really, really wanted (for once) a story that went my way. So I decided to write. Now, mind you, I'm no Shakespeare, but I do try.
10/10/2008: About me (if you don't want to know me, then just skip this)
Wow. I must have been feeling especially cynical when I wrote that (above). Or my pathetic attempt at being mysterious. Whatever.
Star Sign: Virgo! Yay! Lol, no, I don't particularly believe in horoscopes, they never do come true..well, mine don't, anyway.
Likes: Sleeping. My bed. Reading. Writing. Walking (I adore walking to places...if it's not too hot). Rain. Beaches. Water. Coca-Cola. My friends (none of whom read fanfics :S). Meeting new people. Buying shoes. Animals (preferably the 4-legged, furry variety). Chocolate. Music (my life source).
More about music: I do think I'm rather obsessed with music. I'm not particularly interested in playing music (I took piano lessons for a time...while playing the piano was fun, sitting through 90-minute 'theory' classes and doing theory EXAMS at the end of each year was NOT my idea of fun. So I quit. And I quite taking voice lessons when I realised that I was paying the lady more than she deserved, considering what was teaching me)...but I love listening to music, especially when I read or write.
My current music favourites: Paramore, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback, Fallout Boy, Cute Is What We Aim For (what a mouthful!), Panic! At the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Gomez, Muse, Zero 7, Coldplay, Deftones, Gnarls Barkley (odd-one-out, or what?), Placebo, Ok Go, All-American Rejects, Remy Zero, Eels...and tons more...I can't remember them right now.
My all-time favourite: Incubus. I'm not a die-hard fan, my room isn't plastered with their posters, I don't know the biographies of each and every band member...and I'm not even sure I know all their names...but I love their music. I never skip their songs on my iPod and that's saying something, because I skip over songs a LOT. TV channels, too. What can I say? I get bored easily.
Dislikes: Insects. Lizards. Spiders (arachnids, not insects). Peas. Beans. Raisins. Anything with raisins in them. Fruitcakes. Too-sweet or too-oily foods. The heat (trust me, where I live, it's hot all-year round. I deee-test it. Thank God for beaches). Crowds. Noise (like drilling, for example). Cigarette smoke (sure, go kill yourself for all I care, but don't you dare take me down with you! Secondary smokers -people inhaling cigarette smoke- have a higher chance of getting lung cancer than primary smokers -the ones doing the actual smoking). Hypocrisy (I have offended quite a lot of people with my honest opinions. Whatever). Snobs (a little hypocritical of me maybe, because apparently, I have an 'unapproachable' air. That is, until I start talking. Then 'unapproachable' flies out the window).
My writing: I like writing, but I wouldn't consider it as a profession (I'm firmly decided on finance) -nor am I presumptuous enough to believe I have enough talent to become a professional writer. So, I write fanfiction -it's fun, you don't have to introduce characters from scratch, and you can write whatever you like :D
I'm currently writing two multi-chaptered fics: The Fine Line and Rush Of Blood To The Head. I have written one one-shot: Moments In Time.
My all-time favourite Dramione fic: It would have to be The Dragon's Bride by Rizzle. I don't think you can find it here, but it's posted over at Coloured Grey.
Other favourites: I absolutely worship The Fallout by Sage and Water by kissherdraco (both can be found on CG). They're WIPs but those are two stories I will never lose interest in, even if it takes them ten years to update.
I've been writing, or trying to write, fanfiction for the past...one year, I think...and while it's exhilarating in many ways, one of the most difficult things I find doing is to weed out my own mistakes. This is mainly because I hate re-reading chapters over and over again...I'm liable to get bored and change the whole thing. If I kept doing that, I'd never get around to posting anything!
So beta-readers (in my opinion) are very important. Sure, you can't post a chapter as soon as you finish writing it, but when you do post it, it's much better than what you initially wrote, and readers have the pleasure of reading an error-free piece of writing. I, for one, get very put off by spelling mistakes in stories...one very common mistake I've noticed is how many people write 'defiantly' or 'definately' when they actually mean to write 'definitely'. If the plot is good, spelling mistakes do very little to change that, but correct spelling and grammar makes the story more enjoyable to read.
But then again, this is fanfiction, and things like that shouldn't matter much, right? Right. Except that to me, it kind of does...I'm just really weird like that :)
So my beta-readers are:
OrbThesela: She beta-read most of my chapters for The Fine Line and did a really good job of it, too! The best part of it was that she's a speed-reader and I got the chapters back within a day or two...with mistakes corrected and opinions of what changes could be made. Super!
youroctober: She beta-read Moments In Time and is working on Rush of Blood to the Head. A marvellous beta-reader, with an awesome style of beta-reading. I love it! A link to her Perfect Imagination profile is: http://www.perfectimagination.co.uk/User/view_Youroctober.html
