No One knows how old yoga is. It originated as long as 10,000 to 5000 decades ago. It was handed down and has gone evolution. The reference to Yoga was found when excavations were made from the Indus valley - an strong and influential civilization from the period. This culture developed around the Indus river and the long gone river in northern India and had sewer systems, baths as ancient BC.

While religions continue It goes to all people to want to create yoga their production. It has many facets which is found from the Hindu and Buddhist religion, but the basic principals are worldwide and based on"the eight limbs of yoga", which are available in most religions.
The History of Yoga is described as four phases:

Vedic Pre-Classical Period Period, Classical Period, Post Classical Period and the Modern Stage
History of Yoga

Yoga Is said to be as old as civilization itself but the oral transmission of the clinic, has left several gaps in its history. Earliest archeological evidence concerning the presence of yoga is found in Mohenjodaro seals excavated from the Indus valley, depicting a figure seated in a yoga pose. The rock seals put Yoga's presence around 3000 B.C.

The Vedic Period

The next Reference yoga is found in the Rig Veda, the earliest text on earth. The Vedas, dating back to 1500 and 1200 BC, are a collection of hymns, mantras and brahmanical rituals which praised a being. Meditation is known to in the book as discipline or yoking with no mention of a method or a practice to achieve this discipline. Yoga is also mentioned by the Atharva Veda to controlling the breath, using a reference.

Pre-Classical Period

The creation of the Upanishads, Between 800 to 500 BC, marks the interval called Pre-Classical Yoga. The term Upanishad implies that the only way a student could learn the truths was by sitting near to a guru and means to sit near.

The Maitrayaniya Upanishad summarized a path to liberation. Patanjali's Yoga Sutra was later to mirror these avenues with elucidation and a couple of additions.

Two yoga disciplines Gained prominence now: karma yoga (course of ritual or action ) and jnana yoga (path of knowledge or study of the scriptures). Both paths resulted in liberation or enlightenment. https:// -Gita, written around 500 BC later added the bhakti yoga (the path of loyalty ) to this route.

It was in the time of the Upanishads the idea of Ritual sacrifice became the notion of sacrifice of the ego through action, self-knowledge and wisdom and was internalized. This remains an important part of yoga's philosophy today. Now Much like the Vedas, the Upanishads contained nothing of what we'd term as yoga asana practice. The first and most important demonstration of yoga arrived in another phase.

Classical Period

Written some Time Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, in the next century produced a milestone specifying what's now called the first period. This pair of 195 sutras (aphorisms) is regarded as the first systematic demonstration of yoga, also Patanjali is revered as the father of yoga.

Patanjali described the route of yoga (ashtanga yoga), which described a practical treatise on living and laid out a path for attaining stability of the mind, body and soul. Strict adherence to which would lead one. The sutras serve as a guideline for living in the world, although the necessity to master the eight limbs in series is no longer seen by yoga.

Post-Classical Period
It Was in this period the belief of this body as a temple had been rekindled and a clinic also to prolong life and to rejuvenate the human body was designed by yogis. It was no longer required to escape from reality; rather the focus was alive in the moment and about the correct path. The quest of the bodily halves and the spiritual and the necessity to harmonize the mind, body and soul led to the production of Tantra yoga, to Hatha yoga in the tenth or ninth century, and to cleanse the body and brain.
Contemporary Period

Yoga in its current avatar owes lots of To learned gurus who traveled west to spread the benefits of yoga, or researched and generated distinct schools of yoga. Back in 1893 Swami Vivekanada spoke about Raja yoga and addressed the Parliament of World Religions at Chicago. Swami Sivanada introduced the five fundamentals of yoga and wrote several books on philosophy and yoga. J.Krishnamurti, the prolific Indian philosopher, affected thousands with his writings and teachings on Jnana yoga.

The defining epicenter of daytime yogabegan in 1931 with Krishnamacharya.

T The Hatha yoga school was started by krishnamacharya in the 1920s. Three of Krishnamacharya's most famous students were-Pattabhi Jois, who developed the school of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga, Indra Devi who introduced yoga to Hollywood, and B.K.S. Iyengar, who created Iyengar yoga known for its focus on body alignment and because of its use of props.

Since Then, many yoga gurus are becoming pioneers, popularizing yoga in keeping with the changing times, and finding new styles.

Yoga in the Usa has been Focused on the practice's Asana side, but a yogi knows There is far more to the experience. I advise students Styles and you will find one which gives you the maximum enrichment.
