Poll: Preferred pairing for Ilia in Professor Arc: Student of Vacuo? This is mostly a curiosity poll, though if there is a massive response I may try a one-shot for that pairing. Vote Now!

Yep. So, thanks to, most likely, having nothing better to do you are now staring at my user profile on Fanfiction.net. Congratulations.
Since you're probably expecting to read something about, well, me here, I suppose I can put down some information about myself and what I'm working on, though I do want it noted that this seems like a large amount of effort on my part to minimal on yours.
I'm a thirty year old guy, from and currently living in the state of Wisconsin. As most people who know me will tell you, I'm calm and quiet to the point of usually being overlooked in most situations, which suits me just fine. Thanks to having more than a few teachers in my family, I have a deep rooted interest in history, especially of the military variety (Particularly of the obscure and largely useless types, I can still identify the main batteries of most, if not all, battleships of the second world war age. Yay me.).
My abiding love of science fiction began when my father bought me a copy of Wedge's Gambit, the second book in the X-Wing series, and I was forever hooked, going so far as to create my own little universe and language while in grade school, a universe I am still expanding upon in the hopes of on day writing full sized tales for it.
Currently I work as an a glorified software consultant, but hope to eventually become a writer or a video game programmer (the latter of which is actually what my degree is in).
Stories I Recommend and Support:
Awake - "I woke up in a glass tank, in a body I was pretty sure wasn't mine, and that was just the first couple of minutes of my new life. Everything pretty much went downhill from there." -> Written by The Blocked Writer, I'm serving as their beta.
From A Shard, Darkly - "Life might not have been easy, but it was good. I lived in a small colony where everyone was basically family, a place free of prejudice and free of hate, far away from any kind of conflict. And then it all fell apart because of me. Now I'm alone and in over my head, just trying to survive and thrive the only way I know how." -> Written by Ozymandeos, I'm serving as their beta.
Omega: Pharaoh's Return - "The Arrows of Knesset are not the largest gang on Omega, or the strongest. But they're the only home I've ever known. Now with my uncle returning to the station, with new plans and strange allies, it looks like my whole world is about to turned upside down. Set in Katkiller-V's Another Realm Mass Effect Universe." ~ Written by Tusken1602, I'm serving as their beta.
The Old Ways Extra - Waking up next to a corpse isn't the best way to start your day as I find out. Stuck in a place I shouldn't be, it's all I can do to try and survive until the skies darken. But when you're pit against a centuries old Matriarch with little more than the generosity of strangers even that becomes a challenge. Vo0d0o-D0L's take on another of the Matriarch's experiments within the AR-verse.
Massive thanks to GreaterGoodIreland for creating a Tropes page for my Another Realm series. If the link doesn't appear below (The links in my profile don't always seem to work appropriately) it can be found at: tvtropes . org / pmwiki / pmwiki . php / Fanfic / AnotherRealm. Remove the spaces, of course.
Please, if you have the time, take some of it and edit the page. I would love to see what my readers think of the tropes in play within the story. If you don't have an account there, or don't want to make one, feel free to PM me with your thoughts and I'd be thrilled to add it for you.
With the already grey area that all of us here are writing in, given that this is Fan Fiction, if anyone wishes to use characters that I've created in my stories within their own please feel free to do so. All I ask is the following;
Preferred Writing Music:
What I like to read: Anything that's well written that catches my eye really.. in terms of published stories, that currently means the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and Destroymen by Taylor Anderson. Waiting for the next ones in either of those series is always painful because I want them the moment I finish the latest one.
As far as fan-fiction goes.. my taste is a bit eclectic. The first criteria is that is has to be well written, and despite my own occasional grammar failings, has to be reasonably well done in that regard. Usually I find new stories on TV-Tropes when I elect to dive into a new universe, although since I've hit most of those I've gone back to the old stand-by of looking up pairings or scenarios that I like. I suppose my biggest road block is that I like it to be believable and relatable to canon. OOC, even sometimes minor bits of it, can be a huge turn off.
Fanfic I Want to write at some point but probably never will: A Mass Effect/Battletech story, focusing more on the negotiations and political chaos that would be caused by the aliens of the ME galaxy finding the Inner Sphere and Clans.
