Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter.
Why hello there! So, me. I'm a geek in every way imaginable, and when I enjoy something, I have a tendency to obsess over it. Just a tad. Few things bring me as much joy as magic and music - in terms of fanfic, this generally means Harry Potter, Wicked, and Glee. If you're reading my Harry Potter stories, I do apologize, but they're on something of an indefinite hiatus. I've changed quite a lot and as such, most of my inspiration and motivation has changed. Also they're rather terribly written. I may return to them some day though - in the meantime, my deepest apologies!
As of late, I have become somewhat of an avid Glee fanfic fanatic, but this does not lessen my love for Wicked and Harry Potter - just perhaps overshadows a bit.
In terms of me, myself, and I, I'm a geek. I quite enjoy being a geek. However, geek does not mean socially awkward introvert, as some television stereotypes would have us believe! At least not in my case. Academia is simply my strongest suit, and as such, 'geek' is generally the first word that comes to mind when I describe myself. I have a passion for learning...anything, really, the reasons why, and making connections, and just seeing things in different perspectives - learning in and of itself is a joy for me. History, science, music theory, English, math, philosophy, foreign language...anything and everything.
However, I have a deep love for music as well. Music is truly capable of expressing that which one would have never believed expressible. My love of music also translates into another form of my personal geekdom - that of the band geek. Trumpet, vocal, a bit of percussion...any given building's music wing is pretty much my orbital - or it would be, if I was an electron. (Yeah, I wasn't lying about whole geek thing.)
I love seeing the world in new and different ways - through literature, through travel, through photography, through a foreign set of eyes, through a microscope, through philosophy through song or dance or theatrics, from the sea, from the sky, upside down - perspectives fascinate me.
I have an incredibly dry sense of humor...some of the time. In truth, I just, to quote Mary Poppins, 'love to laugh'. More importantly, I enjoy making others laugh. I love making other people - friends, family, random strangers on the street who are probably actually out to get me - happy.
I'm ridiculously sarcastic. Honestly. If you don't understand sarcasm? I apologize in advance. I occasionally claim that I hate people, but this is in fact a lie. Most of the time, that is.
I'll listen to pretty much any kind of music. Indie rock, show tunes, Glee, Wrock (as in Wizard Rock, as in, yes, music based on Harry Potter.), instrumental, and rap if absolutely necessary - though I try to avoid it at all costs, as I'm kind of a snob in that I feel it has very little musical value. But that's just me. Favorite artists or bands include Bright Eyes, Muse, Death Cab for Cutie, Maroon 5, the Remus Lupins, the Glee cast, Ingrid Michaelson, Panic! At the Disco, Noah and the Whale, Red Hot Chili Peppers...it varies from day to day. I'll gladly listen to instrumental scores, and more than half of my iPod consisted of Broadway showtunes, at one [point...not ashamed in the slightest. Also enjoy Lady Gaga's stuff- it's something of a guilty pop pleasure. I'll take indie or Sinatra any day of the week though.
So. Fanfic. I've now passed my fifth anniversary of fanfic addiction! I feel so proud...cough...ahem. Perhaps not. But there are worse ways to go about life. Regardless. I will not abandon my stories, ever, but I update sporadically, perhaps once or twice a year. [...okay, once every few years, now. Whoops.] For this, I absolutely apologize. I was not cut out for a life of fanfic writing, and though I personally love quick updates...sadly I rarely have the time or the ability to do so myself, for which I do sincerely apologize.
My fanfic preferences!
Faberry. OTP. Perhaps THE best pairing of all time. I understand - there was once a point when I swore I would never try it...yet now, I am, without question, a diehard Faberry fan. Just try it. There are so many classics out there...if you'd like recommendations, let me know, I'll be glad to point you int he best direction. Brittana, naturally, is excellent as well.
Favorite Glee fanfic of all time is, without doubt, dylanhart's Should Have Asked for Directions. It is truly a masterpiece, and gives countless "great" works of literature a run for their money. Romance, heartbreak, angst, laughter, tears...it is ALL there. And Taylor Swift references, too, among countless other gems throughout. You really can't go wrong. At all. Even if you don't think Faberry is for you...just go read the damn story. It is, in fact, "fantasmic".
There are, however, countless other fantastic Faberry fics, if one only puts in the effort to find them!
Harry/Ginny are generally my HP OTP...but there are exceptions to (nearly) every rule. Naturally, going hand in hand, I also generally enjoy Ron/Hermione as well.
I'll read pretty much any canon...and a helluva lot of AU, as well. Generally prefer soul bonds or Super!Harry, but I've, excuse the pun, Siriusly gotten to the point where I'll read pretty much anything at this point.
The best series of all time for HP is, no question, the Dangerverse series by whydoyouneedoknow. It is phenomenal. Just read it. Go. Now. And fall in love with the series. An amazing author, and an even more amazing series.
Other enjoyable works in HP fandom consist of those written by caputdraconis14. A completed Rose/Scorpius and a near-done Lily/James, and it's all thoroughly enjoyable. Hurrah!
Gelphie. I have kind of fallen off the Wicked fanfic bandwagon, but Gelphie is certainly a phenomenal pairing. Fiyeraba is also tolerable in small doses, when well written. Anything but Gloq, really.
So. That's pretty much all! Any questions...well, you let me know, yeah? Yeah.
That's all for now, folks! So. Talk to me if you feel so inclined...there are few things I love more than intelligent conversation!
