Author has written 22 stories for D N Angel, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, Death Note, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, My Bloody Valentine, and Supernatural.
Hobbies: When I'm not working, I'm glued to the computer, or to a book, or to my bed. I know that may sound like a very idle life, but that's because it is.
Music: I listen mostly to electronica and trip-hop, ambient type stuff. I also have a love for 80's and 90's hits, movie scores, and instrumental music, classical or modern.
I recommend Saltillo the most. Ganglion (2006) and Monocyte (2012) are truly works of art. One of the songs on his first album, entitled "Giving In" is a source of inspiration for my RE fic of the same name, and is my favorite song of all time. I also highly recommend Raised By Swans, any of the Pogo remixes on YouTube, anything by Akira Yamaoka, especially when he's paired up with Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and a bit of Cult of Luna.
Anime: Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Alchemist (2003), Elfin Lied, His or Her Circumstances
TV Shows: Twin Peaks, American Horror Story, Supernatural (the first 3 seasons anyway), The Golden Girls, Regular Show, Adventure Time
Books: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, Ariel by Sylvia Plath, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, A Rumor of War by Philip Caputo, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
I'd say what all of these books have in common is that they're highly observed - and it can be safely said all these characters feel pain so keen that despite their fictional surroundings they're telling the truth. And that's what matters.
Video Games: Silent Hill 2
Movies: American Beauty, The Fifth Element, The Professional, Spirited Away, Interview with the Vampire, Let The Right One In
My current ships:
Silent Hill: James/Maria, James/Angela, Henry/Eileen, Henry/Cynthia, James/Harry, James/Henry
Resident Evil: Leon/Sherry, Leon/Ashley, Leon/Chris, Chris/Sheva, Leon/Sheva, Wesker/Sherry, Jake/Sherry, Leon/Helena
Supernatural/SPN RPF: Sam/Jo, Dean/Jo, Sam/Sarah, Sam/Jess, Jared/Gen, Jared/Adrienne, Jensen/Daneel
I don't like bashing of any kind, on any character. If you poke fun at them in a "but we love you anyway" sort of way, I can read it, but my policy on hated characters is--if you don't like them, don't put them in your fic. Even for a character I hate, like Ada, I wouldn't like reading her being bashed. I'd kill them off before I do that. Usually characters I don't like either have a limited role in the plot if they're necessary, but if I can write a fic without them, they're going bye bye.
Update: Overwhelmed by the process of revision and rewriting. But by God, it's gonna get done!
The Life and Death of Rio Hikari (DN Angel) - I really hate to disappoint, but I'm not going to finish this.
Anything (Batman Begins/The Dark Knight) - I am currently rewriting this. It's undergoing a major overhaul. As soon as I brush out these kinks in the plot and the overall terrible, terrible writing. You know, this just might be beyond saving, it's so bad. But again, I'll let you know.
Ten Little Wolves (Death Note) - I'm never going to finish this.
Another DN Angel story of mine, entitled Wings of Desire, is in the process of being rewritten.
Most of the stuff prior to 2011 I will probably rewrite, for refreshment's sake. I'll replace the chapters soon, and update my profile when they're up. Some of my other older stuff will probably be rewritten too, like The Depth of Feeling - if only to rectify 4-5 year old grammar mistakes and whatnot.
Forgive me for the fics I'm taking forever on, or even outright abandoned. I know it makes me look terrible. A truly good writer shouldn't abandon their fics. It is hard though; when you fall out of a fandom and still try to finish a story, it's like you're cheating the readers who still love it even more out of what could have been a great story. Readers can certainly sense when an author updates just for the sake of updating, and can sense that no love went into the words they wrote. I would never want to do that to anyone.
All writers are vain, selfish and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives lies a mystery. Writing a book is a long, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.
Through joy and through sorrow, I wrote. Through hunger and through thirst, I wrote. Through good report and through ill report, I wrote. Through sunshine and through moonshine, I wrote. What I wrote it is unnecessary to say.
