There is a scene in the movie where the giants are brawling and one of them walks away with half the company on its leg, and Kili calls for Fili in what is probably fear, and when the giant crashes into the mountain Thorin panics a bit. (Note that I don't care which of them actually almost-dies in the movie; for the purposes of the fic it's Kili.)
