"People like you need to create. If you do not create, Bernadette, you will become a menace to society." - Where'd You Go Bernadette?
Guilty as charged.
Just graduated with a BA in Theater, emphasis Writing for the Performing Arts. I have always loved science fiction, from the time I was tiny (if there ever was such a time), and fantasy: loves fostered by Star Wars, Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, and surprisingly not Harry Potter. I was never much of one for magical realism.
The thing I love to focus on, both in my original and fan fiction works, are the human relationships, even in a SciFi or Fantasy setting. It's the basic truths of human interaction that make certain stories great, in my humble opinion, and it's the story that can be distilled down to human psychology that is a truly meaningful one.
In other news, an academic paper I wrote about Shakespeare's Hamlet was published in an online journal. If anyone is dying to read about "an often-overlooked lesson from the play, about the price of generational conflict and repression" (not my words), PM me and I'll send the link.
