Grad school student who should be working on a thesis, not goofing off on this website...
Pet Peeves: (violating one or two of these MAY be forgiven if the story is that good, otherwise it means it's back button time)
-Authors who don't proofread. It's not that hard to spell check or use proper grammar.
-Authors who use words without knowing what they mean
-Spelling characters names wrong
-Saying it's not very good in the summary--why would I want to read it then?
-Ridiculous sex scenes that are obviously written by someone who doesn't know anything about sex
-Characters that fall in love immediately or "realize" they have deep feelings completely out of the blue, usually after "staring into her chocolate/coffee/ toffee/caramel/stormy eyes"
-Excessive descriptions of clothing
-Slutty Hermione, Artsy Hermione, Punk/Emo Harry, Super Powerful Harry who accomplishes everything with no obstacles, Man-Whore/Cheating Ron
-Stories that go on for so long that the later chapters have nothing to do with the earlier ones
-Authors forgetting detail/changing them in later chapters for no reason. It's not that hard to be consistent, read what YOU already wrote!
-Slash stories where one of them is "the girl," why can't they both be men?!
-Writing in second person. I didn't do anything, the character did. So stop saying you.
-Switching perspectives at random from I to you to he. Pick one! (and preferably not "you")
-Authors notes instead of a chapter. When I see an update I don't want to read about how you've been sick or had a lot of school work so the chapter isn't ready. Don't post until you're ready then! I don't need excuses.
