Author has written 9 stories for DC Superheroes, Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Justice League, X-overs, and Inception.
I'm a Male Singaporean teenager (late teens) and write for fun. While most of my peers are busy playing videogames and sports, I entertain myself by writing fan-fiction.
My first fan-fic piece was written when I was eight-ish, based off a line of Lego building toys. I'd like to think I've gotten consistently better as the years go by. Like most nerds around, my "resume" of fandom expertise includes DC Comics, The DC Animated Universe, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, James Bond and Lara Croft. My former downstairs neighbour (I moved) and very good friend Thompson Colton, who also has an account here, shares many of my interests, and when we're not working on fan projects, watching James Bond films or playing old X Box games with each other, we're bouncing fanfic ideas.
I like to think of myself as being semi-cultured, sorta like goat's cheese, and am a fan of the broadway musical version of The Phantom of the Opera. I'm a big fan of DC superheroes, Batman in particular. I became a fan after watching Batman Begins and Batman TAS, which completely changed my attitude towards comic-book superheroes. These versions of Batman was dark, realistic and mighty serious!
I've various other hobbies too, and enjoy watching a good movie. I'm a big fan of the Lego line of building toys and am deeply peeved that almost all my peers view it as childish. Creating custom pieces and building alternate models from Lego sets is something I always enjoy. My favourite lines are the Star Wars and Batman licenses. I'm also looking forward to the Indiana Jones line in 2008. I read plenty of trade paperbacks and any decent Batman comics I get to borrow from the library. My favourite comic writers/artists are Dennis O' Neill and Jim Lee. My favourite author is Anthony Horowitz, whose wonderful novels (particularly the Alex Rider books, Scorpia is my favourite) have inspired me a great deal. His very effective character and location descriptions, as well as his deftness with the English language and exhaustive research, are quite astounding. I love to draw too, though am not all too good at it. Please check out some of my work at: my DeviantArt account . The stuff I draw is mostly fanart - mainly based off the Tomb Raider Legend game and several DC characters.
Like most guys, I'm a big action fan and am trying to write decent action scenes. It's a useful skill, especially with all the high-octane fandoms I've listed above. Also, I'm a sucker for romance, as most guys secretly are for sure.
As for my personal fanfic peeves, I really dislike Mary Sue fics. Writers who insert avatars of themselves into various fandoms aren't the best around, with no offence intended. I think a skilled fanfic writer is one who is able to weave a convincing yarn by combining the right amounts of established fan-canon and original content, a true challenge indeed. As far as my future work goes, I'm hoping to hone my skills in order to one day, just maybe, become a professional screenwriter. I'm as green as anyone else, so please review my work and drop one or two words of constructive criticism, if you don't mind. I'm happy to take advice.
Please do drop by my blog, ,where I post my movie reviews and other film-related ramblings and musings.
I will warn you that I'm not the most committed author around, and often drop ideas halfway in pursuit of other ones - but hey, I try. The piece I'm proudest of is "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Crown of Utama", which is about as complete as anything I've ever written, because it actually has an ending.
