Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter.
My name is Lucy, and I've been writing Severus/Lily fanfiction on my account at DeviantArt for three years now: For most of that time, I've been working on one long fanfic, Sympathetic Magic, based on the Hogwarts-years of Severus Snape and Lily Evans. I've been trying to think how I can summarize the story (255 characters in the plot-synopsis box was nowhere near enough!), but all I can think of to say is that it's about how much I love the characters, and how much they love and hate each other!
Anyway, since the end of my story is looming into sight (although heaven knows what I'll do with myself when I've finished it), I've decided to post it all on fanfiction.net and livejournal. (This is going to require a lot of editing of the early chapters, so it will be a while before the entire story so far is up here). If you get hooked (oh, how optimistic I'm being! ;)) then you can see later chapters by visiting my account on DeviantArt, where there are 119 of them!
At first, the chapters of this story were just little character sketches, or scenes that would occur to me, without any real connecting narrative. (That's why the first few chapters of Sympathetic Magic are pretty free from incident!) But gradually, a plot took shape, based around Severus and Lily - but also other characters I never would have believed I could learn to love, like Narcissa Black and Lucius Malfoy.
And, at first, the story was grimly routed in canon, and I knew that everything would join up with the events of J.K. Rowling's beautiful novels. But, as I wrote, all the certainties got eroded. Things happened to the characters which seemed to prevent them from logically turning into their canon counterparts. So, the story has been spiralling into the realms of AU for a while now, and it remains to be seen whether I'll decide to yank it back on course. ;)
The story was originally posted on DeviantArt because I wanted it to be close to the amazing fanart which had inspired it. And, if anyone ever gets interested in the story, and wants to see where some of the ideas came from (and even how the story has been illustrated over the years) then please head to Deviantart and check out my faves gallery. There is a special folder for story illustrations here (whenever I receive an illustration for this story, I burst into tears of joy and dissolve into a gooey pile of gratitude - but, amazingly, this didn't put everyone off! ;) Some wonderful artists have put this story into pictures for me, and I'll always be grateful to them!)
Oh, yes, and it's dedicated to my friend Melorik (or Sam, as I expect I ought to be calling him by now! I get so used to the DA usernames...)
Thank you to anyone who reads and (especially) reviews the story! I really hope you'll like it,
