Author has written 11 stories for Hetalia - Axis Powers, and Sherlock.
Hey! I'm Maggie. I'm just a student who loves to write (and who occasionally enjoys a small swim into the visual arts as well). My favorite drink is this cup of vanilla milk with a touch of caramel from this one café in Okinawa, and I thoroughly love USUK to bits.
You can find me at the following locations:
I used to try to reply to all my reviews, but then they led to really long conversations that I couldn't uphold, and there are far too many for me to keep up with. I read them all still, but if I don't reply to yours, please don't take it personally.
Should you want to talk to me about something, send me a PM. I will reply to those.
Manga/Anime That I'm Most Obsessed With ATM:
Hetalia, by Himaruya Hidekazu
Non Manga/Anime That I'm Most Obsessed With ATM:
Horatio Hornblower (as both the book series and the A&W TV movie series)
Alfred F. Jones/Arthur Kirkland, from Axis Powers Hetalia
I like other pairings from other fandoms, of course, like Shwatsonlock, for example, but even with them, no matter the extent of my feelings, I eventually lose inspiration and interest. I can't write Sherlock/Watson every single day, like I can for these two. I can't dream about them, or think about them for hours on end. But for Alfred and Arthur, the possibilities are endless, and I think that's a sure sign that they are truly my absolute OTP.
FANART FOR MY WORK
A Not-So-Classic Romance
Ace of Diamonds
Above the Line
On Better Terms (Rated M, US/UK, some RusAme/RusUK, Romance/Angst, 28 chapters)
This is something I started years ago, so the beginning of it is an atrocious butchery of the English language. However, going back to edit it takes more time than I have to give at the moment, so that's how it'll stay for the present moment. The M rating is because it has dark, kinky themes, so beware before you read. It's explicit.
A Polite Secret (Rated T, UKCan, Romance/Angst, one-shot)
This was a prize for someone who got something right in one of my trivia questions for On Better Terms, way back when. It is also an old work, and rereading it gives me quite a few queasy feelings. However, I do not think that I could do better at the moment, mainly because I don't ship UKCan right now whatsoever (or Maple Tea, or whatever you call it). Thus, it shall also remain as is until further notice.
When You Believe in Things That You Don't Understand (Rated K, England/Romano, a little Spamano/USxUK, Horror/Humor, one-shot)
This was a randomly selected story from the list of replies I received for my "Crazy Little Fic" idea over in A Not-So-Classic Romance. SakuraMoriChan was the one who suggested this. It was far out of my comfort zone, but that's what I asked for! I do not expect it to be taken seriously, so please enjoy it as lightly and as much as I enjoyed writing it.
A Lesson in Biology (Rated K, John/Sherlock, Romance/General, one-shot drabble)
As the description says, it's a really short drabble. It barely even has a storyline. However, since I rarely ever write Sherlock, and this is actually the first Sherlock thing I have ever written past a few sentences, I felt like it was a special something that I needed to mark down and keep with me, no matter how short or how terrible. First fic in a new fandom is a landmark event, I feel. It was quickly written and only vaguely edited, so it's not something to take seriously. Just enjoy. =]
SWEETHEARTS WEEK 2013
Day 1: "Always Beside You" — As Vast as the Universe (Rated T, US/UK, Romance/Friendship/Tragedy, 7 chapters)
It was written all in the span of 24 hours, which means that it was rushed and haphazard. But I want to do all my fics for this week in only one day each, so you'll just have to make do with the unedited version until I find time to go back and make it better later. Also, it's the first tragedy I've ever written! Wheee :3
Day 2: "Masquerade" — Ace of Diamonds (Rated K, US/UK, Romance (implied)/Crime, one-shot)
This little plot bunny just came into my head, and then it never left. I love thinking about first encounters for all types of situations between the two of them. This could eventually turn into a longer story, or it could somehow be melded to fit in with my idea for that longer thief!Alfred/detective!Arthur fic. We shall see!
Day 3: "Sweets" — Hidden Sweets (Rated K, US/UK, Romance/Friendship, one-shot)
I don't even know where I was going with this one, but I guess I've always sort of wanted pastry chef!Alfred and patron!Arthur to appear somewhere, and I've yet to see it written. I really wanted to build a whole universe around it, make it a multi-chap (like I want to do with everything), since one-shots always feel so rushed to me. But I tried! Dedicated to Haku, Danya and Justa-fangirl, and also to all of you whose kokoros I have broken. Here you go, have something sweet. =3=
Day 4: "Rainbow of Colors" — Charmed (Rated K, US/UK, Romance/Friendship, one-shot)
This is my first experience writing in Pottertalia, but I've been so inspired by all the art recently, so how could I not? Plus, I've been meaning to write more fluff for this week, simply because I put you guys through enough angsty hell as it is already, right? :D
Day 5: "Flowers" — From the Ground Up (Rated K, US/UK, Romance/Humor, one-shot)
This is part of the collection I've decided to start called "My Heart Has Been Transfigured" (which is an AVPM reference, because AVPM is awesome). Most of these ideas are going to likely stem from conversations I have with you guys, so it's gonna be a collaborative effort. Feel free to let me know some of your headcanons!
Day 6: "Worlds Away" — Alfred's Dark Arts (Rated M, US/UK, Romance/Humor, one-shot)
Also from the collection called "My Heart Has Been Transfigured." It was smutty by request, and I was actually quite tentative in writing it, since I've only ever written two smut scenes in my life, neither of which I am happy with. But I had fun, which I'm guessing is all that counted? Still, don't ever expect quality smut from me. xD
Day 7: "Celebration of Love" — THIS DOESN'T EXIST! :'D
I was travelling all day on this day, and since I was studying for a test and catching up on sleep while on the plane, I didn't have time to write down much of anything. But I'll have you know that my whole FF account is basically a celebration of USUK love, so that should make up for it somewhat. xD
Sorry I couldn't go out with a bang! Maybe next year.
A Not-So-Classic Romance (Rated M, US/UK, some FrUK/FrUS, Romance/Drama/Angst, 60% finished)
This is my main focus at the moment, and it'll be the one with the longest chapters each update, most likely. Updates should come as fast as I can manage. Every other week, maybe? At the moment, it's looking to be around twenty chapters, but I rarely ever plan things out well in advance, so we'll see where it actually ends up.
My Heart Has Been Transfigured (Rated M, US/UK and UK/US, Romance/Humor/Friendship, unknown percent completion)
A collection of the Pottertalia one-shots that just hang around in my head. A lot of these ideas are likely going to stem from people I talk to here and there, so if you have ideas, please review and let me know! If I feel inspired by them, I'll definitely try to write some of them in. And since it's just a bunch of thoughts and ideas, it's going to be sporadically updated and VERY minimally edited. Just for laughs, and not at all quality. xD
Above the Line (Rated M, US/UK, Romance/Drama, unknown percent completion)
This is a fic for Haku's birthday! I hope I can finish it before her next birthday rolls around, hahaha. It's very much a guilty pleasure fic with less depth in plot than usual, so don't expect too much on that front. I'm mainly writing it so I can take the time to describe Alfred's good looks and wax poetic on how much Arthur gets weak-kneed for it.
PLANNED STORIES (IN ORDER OF LENGTH)
Uphill Gardening (US/UK, rated T, Humor/Romance, one-shot)
Alfred, always one to ask the important questions, decided to pop in on Arthur one day and ask him to explain a few phrases he didn't quite understand from British slang. Most of it was cockney slang or harmless swears, but a few of them made Arthur inexplicably speechless—especially once he heard of where Alfred had learned all of these words.
Pennarum Vincula (one-sided US/UK, rated T, Angst/Tragedy, one-shot)
That bright smile... that golden hair... that shining aura... Alfred was the center of Arthur's solar system. Like Icarus, the Briton naturally deviated toward his sun—out of curiosity, maybe, but more likely out of a slew of other complicated emotions. However, Arthur knew that there would be consequences for this silent admiration and captivation, and that one day, just like Icarus, he too would fall, by his own fault, into the sea and drown in the waves.
Like a Pair of Glass Slippers (title subject to change) (UK/US, rated T, Romance/Angst, three chapters)
Cinderellaverse! Prince Arthur went searching for that shoe owner, all right. But he found the wrong gal, simply because he was looking for a woman. Alfred Jones is the unfortunate man who had wished to turn into a woman for just one night so that he could dance with his beloved prince. Two years after the marriage, Alfred is working (in his dream job) as the private assistant to Prince Arthur, who is unhappily married to Francine Bonnefoy, the one who fit the shoe, but didn't fit his heart. After such grave mistakes and misunderstandings, can Alfred's true dream of marrying his prince ever be realized?
My Bonnie Flies Over the Ocean (US/UK, rated T, Romance/Angst, three to five chapters)
Alfred is a pilot and Arthur runs Heathrow's flight control. They met and fell in love over a series of Heathrow encounters, first through voice, and then through dates. At long last, Alfred is ready to pop the question. He wants to move in and start a life together, and he's finally ready to make that request—if only his travels would bring him back to Heathrow for one last time. Warning: unrealistic on-air conversations; highly unprofessional and totally for fun. This is just my chance to make them flirt so hard.
You Give Me Heart (title subject to change) (US/UK, rated T, Romance/Tragedy, around five chapters)
AU England, in a world where it's legal and accepted for one to donate any part of his body he wishes, even if it would be fatal, for it is a choice. Conversely, it is legal to get a transplant from anyone off the street as long as the other person agrees. Of course, the catch is that the person who receives the transplant, if he had been desperate enough to go above the regular request system and take advantage of this newfound law in the first place, has to pay the donor a large sum. And if he cannot afford it, then he must take care of that person, until debt is repaid fully in services rendered.
Arthur is terribly sick with a deteriorating liver he's had for years, and the system is treating him poorly, as it does most patients without a large sum of money in his bank. He takes matters into his own hands and convinces some bespectacled teenager in the hospital waiting room to take the medical tests and, if he passes, donate Arthur his liver. The operation is successful, but Arthur is, of course, not well off enough to pay. Thus, he is bound to care for Alfred in whichever way the man legally requests. (Remember that this isas far as I've planned, a tragedy; it's much darker than it sounds.)
Last Logged In (US/UK, rated T, Romance/Angst, unknown length)
Alfred and Arthur cannot stand each other. They work at the same company, though in slightly different departments, and the occasional times in which they encounter each other are dreaded by both: one because he thinks the other is a grumpy hard-ass, and the other because he's inexplicably attracted to that dazzling smile and hates to think about it. Each for his own reasons, they are drawn to roleplaying. They meet first on FanFiction, then move to Tumblr, and then finally to Skype. Angsty romance ensues.
We Hold These Truths to Be Self Evident (title subject to change) (US/UK, rated M, Romance/Angst, at least ten chapters)
Alfred and Arthur were childhood friends, their families having been close for generations, ever since the landing of the Mayflower. However, they themselves grew up on opposite ends of an unfortunate time in history, wherein anxiety abounded, tensions rose, and harsh actions were inflicted—all for the freedom of thirteen colonies. Having lost contact for years, the two of them finally met again, in the battlefield, in 1770, at each other's gunpoints. Feelings haven't changed, but circumstances sure have.
Fly Me to the Moon (US/UK, rated T, Romance/General, around twelve chapters)
This is inspired by Teenage Mouse's The Voice, which is a wonderful fic about Alfred being an astronaut, Arthur working for mission control, and the two of them falling in love over a series of conversations in space. It will most likely be quite different from her portrayal of the two, for I have a different take on the series of events and their personalities as well. I suggest you head over there and read The Voice, for it's simply marvelous.
Married to My Work (title subject to change) (US/UK, rated M, Crime/Romance, unknown length, but most likely quite long)
Arthur works for Scotland Yard as one of their chief investigators, quite young for his high position, but his brilliance and tenacity will show anybody that he deserves his job 100%. One fateful day, he is assigned to a new high profile theft case, his bosses hoping that he could crack it when nobody else could. Arthur thought it'd be easy at first, but he eventually starts losing sleep over the matter, especially when case after case by the same elusive thief come and go unsolved. The one who goes by the name of "Argeiphontes" is the first criminal to ever match Arthur's wit, a thief who is skilled enough to steal the most valuable objects from the most fortified places—foremost of which eventually being Arthur's heart right out of his very chest. (Will be darker than it sounds)
The Spy Who Loved Me (UK/US, rated T, Suspense/Romance, unknown length, but definitely long)
Arthur works for MI6 as one of their top spies. Alfred works as a bartender at a bar that also doubles as a small intelligence base for receiving and exchanging information for Her Majesty's secret service. He, of course, doesn't know that secret side of his workplace, and only makes and delivers the drinks instead. However, after an unfortunate incident involving a green-eyed "regular," Alfred is thrust head-on into the word of secret intelligence. And somewhere along the way, he finds out that he is good at handling weaponry and tough situations—a little too good, in fact.
How To Get Guys 101 (US/UK, rated T, Romance/Friendship, one hundred and one short chapters)
This is just another one of those collections that everyone seems to be doing. It'll consist of one hundred and one moments about ways I've ever imagined Arthur or Alfred meeting for the first time. Some will be humorous, others will be serious, some will be tragic, others will be sweet. Occasionally, they will be nations, and other times, they will be human. I will most likely hit past, present, and future as well. As a fun side project, I most likely won't update regularly.
Confessions of a Gentleman and His Hero (US/UK, rated M, Romance/General, unknown length)
This is another collection! I don't know how many chapters, but I just wanted a place to write down all the ways in which I've ever imagined them saying "I love you" (doesn't necessarily have to be a first time confession or romantic). As is with "How to Get Guys 101," genres and settings vary, and I'll only update when I feel like it.
