Author has written 44 stories for Harry Potter, and Stargate: Atlantis.
My name is Karren and I am 19 years old. I live in a small town in Victoria, Australia.
I am a writer of Harry Potter fanfiction, although I have very little experience in writing at all; I do it for fun, when I'm bored and it's my way of letting myself calm down and relax after a busy day at work.
Please note that I have also written one Stargate: Atlantis drabble called "Hiding".
I'm a keen reader of fanfiction also (Harry Potter and Stargate: Atlantis fics only) so if you want a review for your story, let me know and I'll be happy to give one.
My pen-name (Believe-in-Teyla) was a random decision on my behalf and it will make little sense to many so I will explain: I was reading a Teyla-bashing Stargate: Atlantis fic and I felt sorry for her being portrayed as a weak character. I admire a strong female character and any female who can kick wraith arse (SGA reference there - HP readers think Death Eaters) deserves to be respected!
I have written the following fics: "In One Word, Then in Three", "Foolish Games are No Saviour", "His Seven Sins" (and it's side-along fics "Her Seven Virtues" and "Their Seven Stages") and "Within These Walls". There's also two 4x drabble-chaptered story called "Bewitched" and "Darkness" that I very recently wrote out of sheer horrifying boredom.
I am also a writer of 'drabbles' when I have 15 minutes of boredom to spare (100-500 words is my current prerogative - yes I know, a TRADITIONAL 'drabble' is only 100 words but I don't care; I'm not a world-famous writer or anything). I've got quite the little collection under my belt at this stage... In fact, recently I achieved an entire alphabet worth of Harry Potter drabbles - From A right through to Z!
I originally intended "His Seven Sins" to be a stand-alone one-shot however the encouragement of all my reviewers influenced my writing of "Her Seven Virtues". I have now FINISHED writing a final one-shot to conclude the story (called "Their Seven Stages"). I WAS considering making it a SEVEN PART series called "The Rule of Seven" but after hearing that Battlestar Gallactica may only be continuing for one more season because the writers didn't want to "milk it beyond its capacity", I realised that leaving my "Seven" stories at three installments is enough for what I want to do and I don't want to milk it beyond it's capacity and make readers lose interest.
I have just started writing a story called "Blind" which I have made a good start on and have plotted out quite nicely. Things will of course change as I write but I am confident that people will take a liking to it. I will not be giving away the plot here, but stay tuned - it is being regularly updated!
I have also just started another chaptered fic, which is called "When All Seems Dark" - something I did not plan to do when starting "Blind" but I really like this plot and the ideas are smoothly flowing in so I want to get it written down as soon as possible - bare with me; I'm quiet at work at the moment so I've got plenty of time to write two chaptered fics! "When All Seems Dark" is also being regularly updated...
Some readers of my drabbles think I could possibly make some of them into chaptered stories like I did with "Blind". I did not attend to do this at all when writing the drabbles but there are a few that I think may have some potential. At the moment I am all-hands-on with "Blind" and "When All Seems Dark" but by all means I will let ideas about transforming one of my drabbles into a chaptered story brew in my mind. Who knows, once my Work-in-Progresses are completed, I may go on to do just that. if you wish to have you say on which drabble I should focus my attention on, there's a POLL available here on my profile page with my top 5 choices for you to choose from. I would really value your suggestion...
In reference to my SHIP of choice, I'm not sure as to what has attracted me to the Draco/Hermione ship only that it's adventurous. I always sailed for R/Hr but as that came to be in CANON, I sailed away, satisfied, in search for Hermione to have an affair.
I'm not fussy when reading HP fics but there are some elements that I can't really stand:
- Draco is a Veela!
- Hermione got suddenly hot!
- Draco, Harry or Ron being gay/bi/whatever (I just can't let my imagination run that way, sorry). I accepted Dumbledore and I would accept Sirius or Seamus or anyone else for that matter but not Draco, Harry or Ron!
- Girly-girly characterisation of any female character. Giggles, "ohhh!", Jump up and down like a stupid twit, Giggle, Giggle. Question: Has anyone ever MET someone like that? I pity you!
- Hermione is a SLUT! The character we love screams "I'm not a slut!"! People, if you want slutty fics, go with someone everyone hates - like Pansy!
- Quidditch change-room orgies ... i mean REALLY!
Likers of my writing, keep posted to this profile as I will update information about my fics as they are being written. Please note that I will not post a fic until I am sure that it will be finished. I left posting "In One Word, Then in Three" until it was finished (yes it is finished and I plan not to touch it again), as I also did with "Foolish Games are No Saviour"; I may very well do it with others unless the story is completely planned and set out and of a somewhat okay standard!
I hope you enjoy my fics and drabbles!
