What if . . . Mrs. Gardiner's Lambton relations had been a little more well-to-do and what if she had stronger and longer ties to them and to Derbyshire? In this variation Elizabeth begins to spend summers with the Gardiners in Derbyshire at a fairly young age. As a result she develops her own ties to that part of the world and its people, including the Darcy's of Pemberley.

The Bennets are much richer, because Mr. Bennet became an eccentric inventor who was the business partner of Mr. Bingley's father. Elizabeth's best friend who she grew up with is Caroline Bingley. A Fantasy Variation: Mr.Darcy needs to find a mate for his griffin, leave Netherfield, and fulfill his responsibilities. A series of short stories where we take a few more liberties with canon. What if situations in a person's life resulted in a serious character shift? What if there were situations in the past which might alter the entire course of a story? And what if non-canon characters interfered with the storyline as we know it? Would she consider marriage to save Longbourn? A prolonged arrangement in place, what happens when a certain gentleman comes to the area years later?

What if Elizabeth Bennet was not really a Bennet? Suspend a bit of reality and read along. In this story Elizabeth is not born Elizabeth Bennet of Longbourn but rather Lysette Fitzwilliam of Glenwood. A crime committed fourteen years before resulted in her disappearance from the Fitzwilliam family and reappearance in the Bennet fami!y.

When a heartbroken Darcy returns from Rosings, the Fitzwilliams are determined to help him. With some assistance from the Gardiners, they bring him and Elizabeth together, paving the way for love and friendship.

In this story the Bennets have better connections. A compromise early in the Earl of Matlock's life led to a large age gap between Col. Fitzwilliam and his elder brother, the Viscount. The Viscount is of an age with Mr. Bennet. The friendship between the two led to a higher ranked godfather for Elizabeth. It is light hearted with little angst.

What if Darcy's first meeting with Lizzy was not at the assembly in Meryton, but instead took place four years earlier when Lizzy accompanied her aunt and uncle on their holiday to Derbyshire. A brief meeting in the bookshop in Lambton instead of a crowded assembly room might make all the difference. This is a short two-part story.

Mrs. Bennet fled from Longbourn with her lover and Jane two months after Elizabeth was born, leaving little Elizabeth behind with Mr. Bennet. Mr. Bennet dedicated his life to raising Elizabeth. He had loved Elizabeth dearly from the first time he picked his little girl up and she smiled her baby smile at him, and grabbed at his sideburns.

Elizabeth is given Netherfield and leases it to Bingley. How will this affect Darcy's attraction to her when he comes to stay with Bingley?

It is rumoured that the Darcys' link to Pemberley is not exclusive to their earthly life. In this story, Elizabeth saves Georgiana Darcy from being abducted by Wickham in London. However, she does not stay on the scene long enough for either lady to learn the identity of the other person. These events have consequences for how the story develops. HEA

In this story, I imagine what might have happened if, upon Mr. Bennet's sudden death and their eviction from Longbourn, Elizabeth decided that she would rather become a paid companion rather than be dependent on her relatives. HEA

In this story I wonder what might have happened if Mrs. Bennet died the year before the opening of the original P&P and Mr. Bennet married a sensible lady. I try to follow the events of the original. HEA

When Elizabeth inherits 10000 pounds a year, she finds herself the object of unwanted attention, even from the odious Mr Darcy who had previously declared her 'not handsome enough to tempt him'. As per her godfather's request, she joins her aunt Sempronia in London, to be introduced to the Ton.

Miss Bingley's machinations go awry when she upsets her sister, and Mrs Hurst instead of helping her trap Mr Darcy once and for all follows her own scheme instead. - With rather unexpected results...

Her family's behaviour during the Netherfield Ball has Elizabeth hide away in the billiard room where she finds a certain book carelessly left behind. Perhaps Mary is right and reading is to be preferred to dancing...

Posting-in-Progress, celebrating the 5-year anniversary of this publication and I'm returning to to post my backlist stories. This is the first JAFF story I wrote that wonders what if Elizabeth saved Mr. Darcy on the evening of the assembly from a riding accident?

Mr. Bennet was a powerful mage and adventurer in his youth. After having his future children cursed, he decided to retire. The first time his wife was pregnant, he used his magic to prevent the curse, and Jane was born perfect. Thinking the curse was gone, he did not use magic when his wife was pregnant again, and Elizabeth now bears the full brunt of the curse. E&D, WIP, HEA

The rumour mill will be working over time and a dark conspiracy may be brewing against the happy couple, oh and we can not forget a healthy dose of family drama. I do not own Pride and Prejudice.

Darcy and Bingley receive an early lesson on their place in Meryton society. The course of their stay and their relationships with the people of Meryton change as they do. AU Pride and Prejudice.

When Miss Lydia Bennet is attacked on the road to Meryton on the morning after the Netherfield Ball, suspicions arise on all fronts. Was it a local tradesman's son? Highwaymen? Are the militia men responsible, or will they be the ones to apprehend the murderer? And why has the Netherfield party run off to London the morning after their ball? Truly, a most untoward circumstance...

Elizabeth, a young widow, and a new mother, has to deal with the loss of her husband, her new social position, and the possibility that maybe, even through tragedy, you can still find your happily ever after.

Well we've had the HEA. Darcy and Elizabeth have formed a loving bond. However outside influences are about to pop their happy little bubble for they cannot stay forever at Pemberley. Besides, with two such passionate people still learning about each other, there are bound to be difficult waters ahead. WARNING rating change in future chapters.

Shamelessly conceived after reading CheshireSorrow's Liberties Taken (May I suggest you read it). Warning, it is a little risqué for 1813. Mr Darcy finds himself in a rather sticky situation during the Meryton Assembly. Not yet introduced to Miss Bennet, they find themselves compromised and made to marry. And so the fun begins. Mr Bennet intended to father a son, and the P&P story hinges on the fact that he did not. How might life have been different if Elizabeth Bennet DID have a brother? This tale is regency set, but my knowledge of the period comes from the glimpses Jane Austen has provided in her work. I have filled the gaps with my own imagination, so I cannot vouch for its historical accuracy!

Dr. Bennet, Lady Catherine's personal physician, has brought his family to live in the shadow of Rosings park to benefit from the attentions of his patroness. Headstrong Elizabeth seems to thwart the great lady at every turn, but for the sake of Anne, Elizabeth is forgiven–until she refuses to turn her back on Mr. Darcy.

P&P Variation: "He could walk away. It was too fresh, after all, to think completely rationally in such a situation. He could walk away, but Elizabeth – his Elizabeth – was standing next to Wickham. Darcy does not accompany Bingley to Netherfield. Therefore, he does not meet Elizabeth until his first trip to Rosings, resulting in some major changes to the way their relationship develops.

When Elizabeth and the Gardiners visit Pemberley a year early, a bond of friendship and sisterly love forms between Elizabeth and Georgiana. The repercussions of this meeting change completely the way Elizabeth and Darcy interact once they finally meet.

Elizabeth never meant for this to happen. One mistake-one simple mistake-and her life had unraveled around her. Now, on a path she never expected or wished for, she must learn about herself, about the things that are lost along the way to who we will become, and about the power love has to heal as well as to harm. What if Mr Darcy had no opportunity to propose to Elizabeth Bennet at Rosings Park? What if he had made the worst fault and compromised her reputation instead? Would he attempt to repair such a fault or allow the Bennet family to fall into disgrace?

Based on the 2005 movie. What would have happened if instead of walking away in anger, they had just taken a breath and closed the scant distance between them during the proposal scene in the rain? A story about forgiveness and overcoming the obstacles of family, friends, society and their own pride and prejudices to find their happy ending. Fluff. Some characters are slightly OOC.

Netherfield Park, a neighbouring estate to Pemberley, is let at last by the Gardiner family. Soon, their eldest two nieces come to visit.
