~THE LATEST NEWS~
11-20-2011: EXTREMELY BAD NEWS. My laptop's hard drive has crashed. I've got it fixed now, but all my files couldn't be recovered anymore. So that means all my fanfic documents are gone. It couldn't have come at a worse time, because I've been done with some of the chapter updates, and was planning a mass update around December. Well. I guess that's a huge setback, as I try to remember my fanfic ideas. But as I have classes still, time is not my leisure. So you can consider all on-going fics, and me, to be on EMERGENCY INDEFINITE HIATUS.
Rest assured that I'll definitely be back though.

~ANIME and MANGA~
So yeah, you might ask why there's a separate section for this. Well, I say that it covers so many areas that it has to separate from my profile being written as just favorite animes and favorite manga.
When it comes to anime, I'm a little picky... I'm not easily pulled into liking other animes through friend recommendation. I have to see them for myself for me to like. If the anime is given recognition/recommendation by good reviews, I might make a mental note to search for it later or buy a DVD. I like animes with good art that doesn't hurt the eyes. A plus point would be having a nice OP. I also like animes with unique plots but I'm more or less inclined (if you see my anime list) to watch and like animes that contain magic, detectives, cards, bishounen and cute girls xD Oh and ones with cute mascots. (E.g. Mokona and Kuriboh~). I mostly avoid bloody and gory anime as I can't stand those and I'm scared of blood. I also refuse to watch hentai.
When it comes to manga, my standards are the same with anime. I do not mind manga that take forever to update/frequently on hiatus as long as it's good. Completed or not doesn't matter to me.
There are some series wherein I have watched the anime only, read the manga only or have done both. Seeing as in most series, the anime deviates from the manga drastically, I sometimes prefer the manga version. In the following list, I'll note if I've seen both versions or not. This is in no particular order.
1) Gakuen Alice (Anime and Manga)
Haha, how can one not get addicted to this series? xD It is a mixture of comedy, romance and an underlying dark action plot. Gakuen Alice is the first fandom I wrote for when I first started fanfiction. All thanks to my classmate in high school. My first fanfic is in my other account and it's sitting there for like, who knows how long. Currently, I'm not writing for it, mostly due to the anime having stopped running with the manga still going on. I've also not been able to follow the manga very closely... The last episode of the anime is very far from the manga's latest chapter. I think I'll write here again if I ever get the drive to read through the entire manga.
Favorite Characters: Hyuuga Natsume, Sakura Mikan, Nogi Ruka, Imai Hotaru, Kokoroyomi Yome, Sono Kaname, Tsubasa Andou
Pairings: NatsumexMikan, RukaxMikan, RukaxHotaru
2) Prince of Tennis (Anime)
I got pulled into this by my older sister, who bought a complete subbed episode DVD. Needless to say, I got pulled in, thanks to the nice art. Oh and the fact that every episode there's a new bishounen on the screen. My liking for Prince of Tennis made me active on FFnet again (I was inactive for a while) and start more fanfics that I can't unfortunately finish at the moment because of busy schedules. Among my anime list, Prince of Tennis holds the distinction for being the first anime to get me into shounen-ai. Well, it's kind of hard not to, what with all the male characters in there. I got pulled in, thanks to my fellow forumers at the POT stands for Pointless but Original Talking forum. :D I might or might not continue writing as currently, my ideas are stuck because I can't write, and that DVD of PoT is currently missing. I need to find it and watch again. T_T
Favorite Characters: Echizen Ryoma, Fuji Syuusuke, Kunimitsu Tezuka, Kikumaru Eiji, Sengoku Kiyosumi, Yukimura Seiichi, Karupin
Pairings: FujixRyoma (FujiRyo or Thrill Pair), TezukaxRyoma (TezuRyo or Pillar Pair), TezukaxFuji (Perfect Pair), OishixEiji (Golden Pair)
3) Eyeshield 21 (Anime and Manga)
While I was still high on loving sports anime, I came across Eyeshield 21. The first episode and first chapter got me hooked because Sena's so cute and Hiruma's so crazy xD The series did not disappoint and I followed the manga till the last chapter. I love the graphics they make in the anime of Sena's run. Currently making only one-shots here.
Favorite Characters: Kobayakawa Sena, Hiruma Youichi, Kaitani Riku, Shin Seijuurou, Kakei Shun, Anezaki Mamori, Yamato Takeru, Devilbat-sama
Pairings: HirumaxSena (HiruSena), RikuxSena, ShinxSena, KakeixSena, YamatoxSena
4) Ookiku Furikabutte! (Anime and Manga)
Just when I thought my sports anime love phase was finally over, along comes Ookiku Furikabutte. I can honestly say that among the sports anime in my list, this is my MOST FAVORITE. OoFuri is very unique among sports anime for focusing on character interactions, based on most reviews I've seen. Most of the character interactions hint shounen-ai, but that's only to those who have developed the eye to hunting for those.
OoFuri has also won lots of awards, such as the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for best creative work (2006) and then the Kodansha Manga Award (2007). Honestly, after having read it and watched it, I felt it does deserve those. Art in the manga isn't what you'd call stellar but it's good enough and it makes the scenes funnier. A-1 did an excellent job on the anime, giving it a summery feel with the light pastel-like animation. Oofuri is a wonderful mix of laughs, baseball action, shounen-ai romance hints and an easy-to-follow plot. Unlike other sports anime that makes up character moves that are out of this world, techniques that defy the laws of physics amongst other things, Oofuri takes things to the basics and doesn't make any overpowered and showy characters. Every character has weaknesses and are equally likable, even the opponents. Besides the fact that Mihashi's just too lovably cute and Tajima makes you laugh at every panel, Oofuri can get you hooked to baseball even if you have no prior knowledge about the game. Oofuri can only get better~
There's a second season for the anime, entitled Ookiku Furikabutte ~Natsu no Taikai Hen~, which was aired this year, though only 13 episodes. Still, it lived up to its predecessor, still being focused on character growth and the importance of teamwork. There's probably no material for a 3rd season yet since the anime has almost caught up to the manga, though like always, the fans can always wait~
Favorite Characters: Mihashi Ren, Abe Takaya, Tajima Yuuichirou, Izumi Kousuke, Mizutani Fumiki, Takase Junta, Nakazawa Riou
Pairings: AbexMihashi, IzumixMizutani, HanaixTajima
5) Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Anime)
I got curious because many people and sites highly praise this anime. Well, it just so happens that my sister bought a DVD too, so I watched it. This is an anime that I would describe as a "blow you away" anime because simply put, the plot is one of the most intricate I have ever seen. I'm also a fan of CLAMP art, so that was a bonus point for this. I'm just... speechless after watching this that I couldn't wait to buy R2. CG is an anime that makes you think of the philosophical and moral right of justice (wow did I just write that?). The conflict of the means to achieve justice between Lelouch and Suzaku is well-done. They are reminiscent of Athrun and Kira in Gundam SEED a little but then since both series are done by Sunrise, it's understandable. Excellent OP and ED songs, Flow is good. CG is a very open-ended anime, and the plot leaves much open holes for fanfic writers to venture into. And Lelouch and Suzaku are total love.
Favorite Characters: Lelouch Lamperouge, Kururugi Suzaku, Gino Weinberg, Schneizel El Britannia, Lloyd Asplund
Pairing: SuzakuxLelouch, GinoxKallen, LloydxCecile
6) Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny (Anime)
Since I mentioned this up there in CG, I'm delving into this next. SEED is the first Gundam series I've ever watched and it truly touched me. The conflict of friendship and killing others between Athrun and Kira is one that got me hooked. Lacus is also a good character and her songs are very beautiful (Rie Tanaka has done a stellar job). I love all the OP, ED and BGM songs of this anime, performed by some of the best seiyuus and Japanese artists. While most things were left unexplained in favor of developing the action and romance, it's still good and you often find yourself either agreeing or disagreeing with the philosophies of the characters regarding peace and power. Gundam SEED holds the distinction for being an anime wherein I am okay with both shounen-ai and het pairings for the main characters.
Favorite Characters: Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Lacus Clyne, Cagalli Yula Attha, Mwu La Flaga, Stellar Loussier, Tori and Pink-chan xD
Pairings: KiraxLacus, KiraxAthrun, AthrunxCagalli, KiraxShinn (whoot! angst), MwuxMurrue
7) Pandora Hearts (Manga)
Um... I don't know where to begin because this is so awesome. Pandora Hearts is based on Alice in Wonderland, which is one of my favorite childhood classics (Go Cheshire!). But PH is just a wonderful twist of Alice... It has a darker and more mysterious tone, yet still manages to be very funny. Every character has depth and the mystery keeps you guessing with every chapter. Art is also awesome, particularly for Alice's dress. The latest chapters, though awesome, are also so sad. Why did *BEEP* have to DIE? D8
Favorite Characters: Oz Vessalius, Alice, Gilbert Nightray, Xerxes Break, Elliot Nightray, Jack Vessalius
Pairings: OzxAlice, ElliotxOz
8) D. Gray-Man (Manga)
I read DGM out of curiosity also, seeing as it was always in the top mangas. Oh man, I was never gladder to listen to curiosity. Action scenes never get old, and there's an ongoing mystery that brings up more speculation. Nice chara designs and love the depth of the characters. Timcanpy rules xD And the Millennium Earl is a funny villain, who's both sadistically evil and evilly funny. Heh. I'm a little out of the loop here because the manga is quite slow now. But it'll probably build up to something amazing so I can wait, I suppose.
Favorite Characters: Allen Walker, Lavi, Timcanpy, Cross Marian, Millennium Earl
Pairing: LavixAllen (Laven)
9) Yu-gi-oh! and Yu-gi-oh! GX (Anime)
I've always loved card games, although I could tell no one about it, as most would think it's too childish. Yeah, you heard me right. Except for the standard deck of cards (you know, the ones used in poker and stuff), I could only secretly love them. YGO and YGO GX only made me love them more. xD
Others have tried but only YGO and its succeeding series were the most successful in presenting card games in anime. As funny and laughable it may seem that the fate of the world can be decided by card games, it's actually sort of... refreshing and unique, definitely. You'd think their overdramatic flair of drawing a card, shouting DUEL! to the high heavens and using cards to destroy the world is too much for an anime about a card game. But hey, this is anime. Not a reality card game. The concept of magic mixed with cards is just right for my standards. There's also the fact that through the cards and duels, they manage to flesh out and develop characters. And I never get tired of the surprises in duels.
Yu-gi-oh: Yugi is so lovable and his bullied but strong on the inside character reminds me of Oofuri's Mihashi. And there's no denying that Atemu/Nameless Pharaoh is one of the most badass characters ever. xD And let me say it in all caps: BLACK MAGICIAN GIRL IS MY FAVORITE MONSTER CARD. Anyways, being the first season, YGO is considered the original and I agree. Nice animation and the OP and ED are some of the most badass. Gah, YGO makes me say that word too much, I swear. xD
Favorite Characters: Mutou Yugi, Atemu, Ryou Bakura, Mana/Black Magician Girl, Kisara, Kuriboh xD
Pairings: AtemuxYugi (Puzzleshipping), MahadoxMana
Yu-gi-oh GX: Many say that sequels to most series are worse than the original. I beg to differ. GX was an excellent sequel to the first series and though I would not say it surpassed the original one, I can safely say that they are equally good. Yuki Judai is a mixture of first series' Jyonouchi's lively personality and Yugi's penchant for surprising in duels and passion for the cards. He's a funny protagonist, a good fit for the GX series that's focused on a school (The first series' characters went to school but their school life was never a major point). Most cards and decks here have a theme. While YGO tackled issues regarding the strength of the heart and importance of friendship and trust, YGO GX focused on growing up and adulthood, and not fearing the future, which I believe, are fitting themes for a school-related series as that is what most students think about. I think it's good that they included Yugi in this series, implying continuity, although he sort of looked like a last boss in a game or something. xD OP and ED songs are, as usual, badass xD. Currently my obsession.
Favorite Characters: Yuki Judai, Johan Andersen, Edo Phoenix, Marufuji Ryou, Tenjoin Fubuki, Jim Crocodile Cook, Yubel, Fujiwara Yusuke, Hane Kuriboh and Ruby Carbuncle
Pairings: JohanxJudai (AKA Spiritshipping and my current OTP), RyouxFubuki, YubelxJudai, RyouxEdo, Hane KuribohxRuby Carbuncle
10) Weiss Kreuz (Anime)
WK is what you would consider the 'old classics'. One of the earliest animes, the animation style speaks for itself. But hey, who said old meant bad? Weiss Kreuz (known as Knight Hunters in the English version) is an unforgettable anime. If you're one for mystery, espionage and bishounen angst, then this is the anime for you (like it was for me xD). The four protagonists may seem cliche but each have their own unique and distinguishing feature. The series is a little bloody, but then this is about 4 men who are florists by day and dark assassins of justice by night, what would you expect? Along with dealing with the 'dark beasts' of society, they have their own dark personal pasts to deal with. Weiss Kreuz is a German word, it means 'white cross'. The title is befitting for Aya, Omi, Ken and Youji, because of their line of work. And this is another series with badass OP and ED xD And a little tidbit is that almost all of them are sung by the group Weiss. They all sing the song so you can hear more than one voice but it doesn't sound like a jumbled mess of voices, the blending is amazingly pleasant to listen. The scenes for the OP and ED portray well the inner turmoils of the four protagonists. WK is a definite classic.
Favorite Characters: Tsukiyono Omi, Hidaka Ken, Naoe Nagi
Pairings: OmixNagi, KenxOmi
11) Detective Conan (Anime and Manga)
Given that this series has been running for 16 years now, it's not hard to believe its success. Detective Conan is the brainchild of the awesome mangaka Gosho Aoyama who began it in 1994. Detective Conan is probably one of those animes that make you go 'Oh, I always watched that when I was a kid!' because it's really associated with the 90's. Yet, it is still going strong, having spawned 14 box-office breaking movies (with several making billions and staying at the top of charts for weeks), a 500+ episode anime and 750+ chapter manga that do not show any signs of stopping. Seriously though, it's been sixteen years already, and Conan should really be an adult by now xD but as it's one of those animes with 'stopped' timelines, it can go on. It's a fresh concept for an anime, it's not about flying robots and magical animals, and the cases never cease to amaze. When you compare the animation of the present to that of the first few episodes, you can really see how much this anime has grown. The animation may change with better effects, but the story will never stop being amazing.
Favorite Characters: Shinichi Kudo/Conan Edogawa, Hattori Heiji, Kaitou KID, Mouri Ran, Mouri Kogorou, Haibara Ai, Kudo Yusaku, Kudo Yukiko, Kisaki Eri, Agasa Hiroshi

To all those who have read my fanfic Sharing a Heart, someone made a sketch of it! It's cute, it's almost exactly how I imagine of the scenes in the fic as I wrote it. For me, it reminds me of the scene after the transplant rejection, where Judai and Johan decide to call it 'our heart', which made me smile like an idiot when I was typing it. xD The art is very cute!
I have finally found out who did it, even though it was sent through an anonymous reply. It's none other than the amazing bunowl! 8D Thank you very much! You can all see it at:
By the way, two of my Spiritshipping fanfics, 12 Gemstones: Johan and Judai and Heartfelt Melodies, have been translated into Spanish by Saku Hyuuga Ishtar with permission from me. If you want to read them in Spanish, go visit her profile.
And as a final note... Feel free to PM/E-mail/contact me if you 1) want to discuss anime obsessions with me, 2) want to comment on anything on my profile or in any of my stories and 3) want to give me a wake-up call to update my stories. xD Sometimes, I might reply at once but on some other times, it would take a while.
