Author has written 1 story for Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew.
Thank you to everyone for reading (and reviewing!) my first published fanfic, Gold Fever. I only wanted to share this story with all of you, and the wonderful comments you have left are much appreciated.
Upon discovery this site, I was quickly inspired to write Gold Fever, an homage to the SuperMystery stories from the 1980s and 1990s. Although I haven’t read an SM (or a Files or a Casefiles) book in many years, I hope I have stayed true to the characters of our favorite sleuths. I have tried to add some depth to the characters, as well as a little bit of a timeline (i.e. life after high school). Also, it always bothered me that there was very little continuity in the books. I know that is part of the charm, but it’s nice to see the protagonists trying to cope with the real world once in a while, which is what I have tried to include in some places.
However, I must confess that the driving force of this story was definitely the plot. It took me approximately two months to write, with the first month spent working and re-working the storyline. What attracted me to Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys in the first place was the mystery, and I hope I’ve written one that keeps the reader guessing until the end. Writing the story from the detectives’ different points of view along with effective cliffhangers at the end of each chapter was fairly challenging, but refreshing at the same time.
Again, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I’m currently toying with a new idea, a mystery that would introduce Ned and George to the Hardys. As before, I won’t start publishing until the story is complete, but hopefully I’ll be bitten by the writing bug again so it won’t be too long of a wait.
