I know a lot of authors have this odd craving for reviews, this is something I completely lack. Maybe its a side effect of me not reviewing much, but I believe a review should be a comment on a story, not just a "good job" and should be done if it is important. IE: if you notice one miss spelt word its not really worth a review, but if I stuffed up while typing a chapter at 2am in the morning and it has entire paragraphs that make no sense well then yes that is a good review. Having said that I still enjoy reviews because it makes me feel happy that other people are enjoying reading the story as much as I am writing it.
I have to say, parings are both the most important, and least importance thing in a story. Like most things with story's it all depends on the author. A good story is made better by a good paring, (see: a paring I like) while a great story doesn't need a good paring, or even a paring at all.Two prime examples of this are the Namikaze Hokage and Team Sharingan. both have a NaruSaku paring, which I hate for the sheer fact that the way Sakura has treated Naruto early on would keep him from forming that kind of relationship, and later on they form a more brother sister relationship. despite that they are both great stories that have made me actually enjoy that paring due to the authors great writing skills.
Having said that I do have a favourite paring. Naruto/Hinata. in my opinion they just go together so well. Although I have became partial to Naruto harem stories, as they allow both the great match up of naruto and Hinata, to be mixed with other match ups that work well. As long as its not ridiculous like naruto/everygirlandhermother
While as said above a dislike naru/saku and I really dislike naruto/minor characters. I don't know why but they just rub me the wrong way.
Updates: Infrequent would be an apt description. Although I am working (very slowly) on the latest chapter.
This is a list of what i think the Top ten stories I've read are and why. (no real order)
First major story I read here on Fanfiction.net and in my humble opinion; one of the best. Perfect Lionheart has created a wonderful story through his realistic portrayal of characters, expansions on cannon information and ideas, and his corrections for rather large inconsistency in the world we know as cannon. All the while weaving an intricate story with a compelling plot. I have re-read this story at least half a dozen times and each time I discover new piece of information that I either missed or failed to put together.
It seems like forever since Darkfayt last updated this story, although there have been several An's in the two or so years since the last real chapter, despite this I feel Demonic Nemesis is one of those stories that demands to be read. I consider this the best demonic Naruto story I have read on FF.net. While large chapter size, in-depth explanations, interesting character dynamics and several completely unique ideas serve to make a good story, the way in which Darkfayt has combined these four aspects of his story together is what truly makes it an excellent story.
Anyone who considering themselves a fan of the Naruto/Hinata pairing has read this story, and if you have go read it..NOW! All around considered one of the most well written Naruto story, Team 8 presents a compelling tale showing just how awesome the power of the butterfly effect is. The simple change of Kurenai inspecting the Genin before choosing a team (Which in on itself was spawned from a change we are as of yet unaware of (at least I think we are, been a while since I last read Team 8)) caused a radically different outcome for our favourite Genin and has spawned the behemoth of a story that is Team 8.
I feel the best description for the Neo Yondaime Hokage is; A five hundred thousand word monster of a story that will consume at least two entire days of your life, because you will be completely unable to stop reading. Yes you read that right, five hundred thousand, and still growing. Out of all the "Yondaime sealed in Naruto" stories this has to be the only one that has really drawn my attention. Most of the others feel like cheap knockoffs of this story.
We've all seen the young naruto meets Kyuubi story, but how many manage to pull off a good story and not one of the thousand sub-par stories we see floating around? Very few, This story is one of those few. Soul of the Seal follows the adventures of Naruto and his demonic teacher who raised him from childhood. Of course this leads to Naruto seeing things a lot differently to everyone else. A great read for anyone who enjoys a well written story.
Your classic Naruto travels back in time, ah but this time it was completely unintended. After the Akatsuki's extraction ritual runs afoul of a little seal Naruto invented he finds himself thrown in the distance past, just prior to the the third ninja war. Unfortunately for our blond hero his trip in time has left him unable to use typical Jutsu and is left with only one option, he turns to his mastery of Fuinjutsu (The art of seals). I would rate this is one of the few excellent time travel stories.
Another of the few excellent time travel stories, The Tragedy of Repetition shows how time travel is not all its cracked up to be. The Kyuubi decides in one final spiteful act to send Naruto into the past, with the intent of forcing him to suffer through the loss of all those close to him once more. When Naruto awakens in the past he discovers he is still in his older body, and now because he no longer contains the Kyuubi the majority of his powerful Jutsu are lost to him as he no longer has the Kyuubi's infinite chakra to power him. This stories greatest attraction is is characterisation of its main characters. None of that happy fluffy sunshine and rainbows stuff you see elsewhere, or the ignorant fool either. The characters are real, they seem like real people you could meet in the street (except for that whole ninja thing...) and they act in ways you can see yourself acting if put into their position.
The other Three of my top ten will follow at a time other then 3am in the morning.
