Visiting home after her break-up with Kurt, Penny finds that the Nebraskan nightlife was incredibly generous to her on her first night out as a single woman. The only problem is, alcohol-induced memory loss is taking its toll and she can't quite remember one very important detail: his name.

"It's just that you haven't turned the page for like... nearly two hours." Leonard offers a clueless Penny some help with studying, and they learn that the lines between cheerleader and nerd aren't necessarily parallel - in fact, with some work, they can form a neatly balanced equation. (That was cheesy, this is AU, a prequel-sequel to 'The 8 Simple Rules Paradigm')

Chuck has returned home for his annual birthday bash. When his ex-friend Bryce sends him an email he gets more than he bargained for. The CIA and NSA send their best to retrieve the information, but all is not what it seems, Chuck is definitely not the nerd they were looking for and even "demons run when a good man goes to war."

Some things don't conclude the way you expect them to, and Leonard and Penny learned this the hard way - but they also learn that 'dealing with it' doesn't mean something is dealt with, and time neither heals wounds nor erases feelings. Strays in a different direction from a canon plot which will be revealed further along.

AU fic. Leonard and Penny are in the same high school together. They just haven't met yet.

In this arc, Penny is the victim of a home invasion. She manages to inflict nasty injuries on the bad guys. This is a bit darker than the usual for BBT, but I am so intrigued by the Penny character and wanted to explore how she might respond if something scary happened. She is so strong. You go, girl. I have put my wife and myself in one of the chapters. See if you can find us.

Leonard and Penny are back together and starting to think about their future. Howard is going into space. Things happen. Things don't happen.
