Shippings I Can't Stand:
Ron/Hermione (The comment that the two of them fight like an old married couple doesn't present a happy image for marriage at all. Sibling bickering and rivalries are more accurate descriptions of how those two act around each other. This quote from Mage Rising (HP fanfic) by DeusExMatty is only too true.
ATLA: Aang/Katara; Zuko/Mai
PJO: Percy/Rachel; Jason/Piper (I see Jason and Reyna as the Roman counterparts of Percy and Annabeth. Piper, to me, is the Other Girl.)
COTT: Jay/Theresa (Jay's character just bugs me in general.)
Heir Series: Seph/Madison (I hate the character of Madison in general. She so doesn't deserve to land a great guy like Seph)
Hunger Games: Peeta/ Katniss; Gale/Madge
Chronicles of Narnia: The Pevensies with anyone, with the exception of Susan and her various beaus. I guess because C.S. Lewis never hint at or expressed any romance potentials for the Pevensies, I just can't picture them with anyone. Also, because anyone paired with them would be most likely be an OC.
Arrow: Oliver/Laurel (Maybe they are each other endgame in the comics [which they are not, by the way, considering that they are divorced and in the new 52, they don't even know each other, but Arrow is different world, and the two of them together just doesn't work here. Aside from the fact that their scenes seem really forced, Oliver cheated on Laurel with her sister and Laurel slept with Oliver's best friend when she thought Oliver was dead before dating the friend afterward. There's just too much history and baggage between the two of them; it's just a destructive relationship. If they do end up together, Oliver will forever be feeling guilty for cheating on Laurel with her sister that led to said sister's "death." He will always be in the wrong in their relationship, and his actions will always be hanging over their heads. Although the character of Laurel has been pretty spotty so far and the writers have not been doing that great of a job developing her, what kind of message does it say about her as a character/ person/ woman if she ends up with the guy who cheated on her with her sister, an action that led to her sister's "death.")
"It's very difficult to acknowledge that level of anger and resentment, that hate, towards somebody you also love very much," Sweets said. "To have such strong, opposite feelings about one person is very conflicting."
"Love and hate aren't opposites," Booth said.
"Then what is the opposite of love?" Sweets asked.
"Indifference," Booth said simply. "The opposite of love is not giving a shit. If you hate somebody, though… you can't feel that kind of fire towards somebody you don't care about. You almost have to love somebody, to hate them. When it comes down to love and hate, they're only a step apart, really. They're not that different. They're consuming, they're powerful, they shadow everything else you've got going on… the only difference is that one makes you happy, and the other doesn't."
"That's extremely insightful," Sweets said, and his face showed that he truly felt it.
"And for the record, I didn't hate my father," Booth added. "I hate what he did to us as kids, and what he did to mom… I hate his alcoholism, yeah. I hate a lot of things about him, but I don't hate him. I love him. Always will."
"It takes a lot to love someone unconditionally," Sweets said. "It takes even more to acknowledge that a person is separate from their actions, and that you can love them even in light of those actions. I think I owe you an apology as well, Agent Booth—I greatly underestimated your insightfulness."
The Mirror of a Bad Dream (Bones fanfic) by K. Elisabeth
"Do not pluck a bloom while it is but a bud. You never know what color it truly will be." Reluctant Hero (A:TLA fanfic) by P.A.W.07
Life is rhythmic. Every aspect, from the rigidly scientific to the deeply spiritual, has a rhythm about it, a pattern—something one can settle into and feel, and move with. The sun rises, the sun sets; the tides ebb and flow; cells divide and multiply. Perennials burst forth from the hardened crust of winter and, as surely as a newborn child takes their first gasp of air, brightly-colored buds will protrude from their stems and open themselves to the world. We fall into these patterns that pass and overlap one another effortlessly, and it becomes our life. We fall into the rhythm of life, and it allows us the pleasure of hearing the tempo for what it is—music. The Mirror of a Bad Dream (Bones fanfic) by K. Elisabeth
"Those who are not students of history are condemned to repeat it." Linda Downey, The Wizard Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
"Such an unattainable aim; luck won't be on his side for this... Well, I don't blame him for his choice...Truly captivating is a rose's beauty; ceaselessly desired by so many; but its thorns make them very wary... As only one is allowed to hold it ever so firmly." Day Before Spring Break (PJO fanfic) by Lerysakon
"He had you and he was going to hurt you. There was no choice to make." -- Oliver to Felicity in CW's Arrow
