Following the events of the short story "The Second Weyr", Torene and M'hall are the newly named Weyrleaders of the just founded Benden Weyr, where a mysterious rider threatens the peace and new beginnings between Benden Weyr and Benden Hold. New traditions for Pern are established and frightening happenings unfold for the untried leaders. New and Canon characters and dragons.

It appears that all of Earth's traditional nursery rhymes have been forgotten by the Ninth Pass, replaced with the Harpers' teaching songs. But what if those old rhymes had been preserved, and adjusted to reflect life on Pern?

This is a short "what-if" story that brings a better ending to my least favorite part of "Dragonquest," the battle of the queens.

Duty has been drummed into him from birth; he must follow in his father's footsteps by marrying and raising a family who will do exactly the same in their turn. But when his cousin Kadin arrives at the Hold, he realises he can't hide his secret feelings any longer.

Menolly just wants to take a relaxing bath, but her fire lizards have other ideas.

When you start a new job, your company may give you an "employee's handbook" explaining your rights and responsibilities. What if the dragons of Pern did something like that for newly-hatched dragons? This is what it might look like. It contains good advice for all dragons, mingled with their befuddlement as they deal with the vagaries of the human race.

Inspired by some authors on this site and others, I've decided to attempt a few drabbles myself. These will primarily focus on a segment of Pernese society that is seldom mentioned and will feature both canon and original characters.

This is a prequel to 'Gone Away, Gone Ahead' set at Fort Weyr near the end of the Eighth Pass of the Red Star. Triumphs and tragedy await the weyrlings of Kadoth's clutch in their progression to become fully fledged dragonriders.

The Eighth Pass is over. At Fort Weyr, D'gar, Herebeth's rider faces the future without his weyrmate, lost to Thread just two Falls before the last. When Lessa brings the five Weyrs forward to the beginning of the Ninth Pass, he must face his fears, try to adapt to an altered world and take the risk of falling in love all over again.

Plenty has been written about what happens at the start of a Pass on Pern, but how does the planet react to a change over from fighting Threadfall to the long Intervals during which the Weyrs are no longer needed to fight the voracious Thread? Set at the end of the fourth Pass. (Mostly canon.) (Updates sporatically))

There are parts of "Beyond Between" that don't make sense to me. This version is very different from the "real" story, but you may like it.

Ramoth's new clutch includes some unusual eggs that hatch into VERY unusual dragons. Pern may never be the same. This is a crossover among Dragonriders of Pern, Inheritance Cycle, Spyro the Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon, Temeraire, The Neverending Story, The Hobbit, and the song "Puff the Magic Dragon." How does a teen-aged boy with a bad reputation turn into a respectable dragon rider? It can be a crooked path. Follow the stories of two very minor characters from Dragonquest, Pellomar and Birto, from the day they Impress their dragons to the day they become full-fledged Thread-fighters. But the complications that follow, while they aren't as bad as losing a dragon, are not easy to deal with. This is a retelling of the end of chapter XII. 500 years ago, dragons went extinct. But Pern has flourished in the absence of Thread. Harper Arya has always loved the tales of dragonriders. But she never expected to find dragon eggs, frozen in time, in the ruins of Fort Weyr. Or for the eggs to hatch and bond to her and her crew. With the stories true, not all of Pern is happy. But just how did dragons die in the first place?

A century after the end of Thread, the weyrs struggle to find their new purpose. Turmoil stirs in Pern, as holders are no longer content to support the riders and their dragons. Some riders believe they should be ruling Pern, creating dissent among those they should be calling allies. Every Pernese knows one thing, deep down inside: change is inevitable, for better or for worse.

James came to Lemos Hold four Turns ago, with no prior history of ever being holden to anyone, and no known family. When he unwittingly Impresses a silver dragon at a hatching, he begins to discover abilities about himself that will make him question his existence. Might change the rating, depending on how the story develops.

"Gone away, gone ahead..." A single Weyr could not hope to cover the whole planet, but the new Weyrleader is doing his best against the odds. What happens when the expected Ninth Pass does not happen?

What really happened to cause Wirenth and Prideth to go between forever? I have attempted to fill in the blanks for a portion of Dragonquest. And in the process, have made Brekke a more sympathetic character.
