Fifth of November
Remember remember the Fifth of November
with its gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
And what of the man by the name of Guy Fawks
who broke down the governments power?
He blew up the church and the senate and court,
and he blew up the parliament tower.
The prime minister roared to see such an act
and vowed his revenge on the spot.
Guy Fawks was arrested, then tried and convicted
death row than hanging he got.
And when that day came, May Fifth the next year
and Guy Fawks was marched out of his cell,
he laughed and he smiled with the crowd all the while
the noose tightened more with each yell.
The prime minister glared to see such a sight.
"Why so gay?" he asked angry and scared.
"Your death is just minutes away, don't you know?
You will die and none will have cared."
And Guy Fawks shook his head. laughed again and then said
"Wrong are you--and I have no regrets.
for a man, just a man, can be killed. That is true.
But ideals, no one forgets.
They killed him that day, burned his bones, his effects.
The situation was finally under control.
The prime minister laughed, had a drink and relaxed.
He had truly completely accomplished his goal.
But the peasants were stirring, they remembered Guy Fawks
and the seeds with his speech he had sown.
People were talking, were gathering, were plotting
and five years after that, revolution was grown.
