Hello, my name is Professor Guttenberg and I am a dumpster diver of the obscure and lost items of FFN. Welcome to my humble archive. As such I've managed to procure lost fanfics which were thought to be consigned to the dust of this subculture's history. As such what, I find and what I post is as is. I will not tolerate the hooliganisms of tattletales taking the presumptious position of "rule enforcers" on the content I post for that consult the first paragraph above. If they have any problems with what I intend to do, they should touch the grass as I've done so often and take their literary Soyjak-finger-pointing elsewhere. I'd rather be a bone-picking vulture than a willfully-ignorant hypocrite. My job is to give fics a second chance. An important part of this has to do with the original authors who all but left FFN and would not even bother with replying to queries concerning their abandoned content. With the current state of affairs of FFN I say they're lucky. Thus, much of what I found is presented in the state I found them as much as possible, with few alterations warranted. As such, read and enjoy. Bulletin: Fics remastered so far! Azumurder Deathoh by Not-as-Thrilling-as-Advertised Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kan: Kanashii hen by WOLFEDEN Studios The Village by SpatulaCastle (chapters 1 to 10 only) Nazi Zombies by LRJG Leader (chapter one only, only one retrieved). In Memory of Agent Vernon Wilkes Jr by Rei Nokato. The Ocean! by What's-Yer-Offer. State of the Mythos by Regina Demonica. Tomb Raider: The Quest for PEPPERMINT by DarkPhoenix-24 9/24/22 Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kan: Kanashii hen by WOLFEDEN Studios The Village by SpatulaCastle (chapters 1 to 10 only) 9/20/22 Yesterday, I was tasked to take down four works belonging to an author at the request given to me out of anonymity, fan of their work. Which is why I took down them and put up a few fics in their place. Hope you enjoy. 9/15/22 I'm gonna be "remastering" some of my posts. That is I'm bringing them up to Wayback "freezeframe" standards whenever possible. Following today are: Nazi Zombies by LRJG Leader (chapter one only, only one retrieved). In Memory of Agent Vernon Wilkes Jr by Rei Nokato. The Ocean! by What's-Yer-Offer. State of the Mythos by Regina Demonica. Tomb Raider: The Quest for PEPPERMINT by DarkPhoenix-24 9/6/22 Looks like I'll be heading deeper into the hole now. I'll be running more of the usual risks. Don't where I might come with this. Suffice to say, bringing up fanfics wouldn't be a cakewalk as they used to be. Some are tantalizingly great offers, save for the fact the original authors are technically still on site or are active elsewhere, some fics are truly lost forever while others are just too spicy to post. Quite the Labyrinth to say the least. 8/5/22 Hello again. I wonder if I should continue. Still, I got enough to last the year. 7/29/22 My last update for this month: Took down Predator: Global Conflict by ED209 because it turns out he's still active. The folly of me to do so. I heartily apologize as I had not vetted the writer's profile properly. - Professor Guttenberg. 7/1/22 Hey guys, I see that my archival work has been modestly well-recieved. Thanks for your support, I had joy bringing these lost works back to the fore. They really deserve the chance. I also came to another epiphany. This isn't the job of one man, I can only find, vet, format and post so much. If you didn't know by now, my source is is the Wayback Machine, either the frozen pages and links of FFN from years past or the massively-compiled txt files archived in repack. It could be your chance to help preserve FFN by voluntarily saving fics, profiles, forums, and communities in their minutiae by copypasting their URLs via Wayback. Webcrawlers can only take so much information at any given time and with a place as huge as the internet, they may overlook some things. Furthermore, I urge you to partner free fic downloaders like Fichub and more as they provide your favorite fics in downloadable form via HMTL zip, ePub or PDF, not just for FFN but AO3 and Spacebattle Forum. Also, take care what you find and take because you might run into old fics that still-active authors had taken off and discarded and also certain spicy fics that would trigger some, for that they are best only to be read and shared privately. This also comes to what I'm gonna do for this month. I find that daily serializing isn't practical in the long-term. Too much of a schedule to keep up. Instead, my uploads would be highly irregular. This is meant to be a hobby, after all. I hope I spelled everything for this month. And don't stop loving what you love. -From your archivist, Prof. Guttenberg |
